ephedra=hydroxycut=ma huang?

Aren't ephedra and ma huang, a Chinese herb for weight loss, the same thing? And isn't ephedra the active ingredient in Hydroxycut?

Sounds like the whole thing is risky. I know ma huang is very dangerous to use.

Be careful out there!

I believe you are correct in this connection. If you look at the ingredients on some of these products the will say "ma huang (ephedra extract)" and list the amount of the ingredient.

I tried it for a while & you know what--it doesn't work!!!! So, not only be careful, don't waste your money!

The timing couldn't have been better. I just read an article in Women's Fitness RX stating how studies now show that ephedra and caffine are NOT dangerous to healthy individuals. This struck me as so weird because I have heard nothing but the exact opposite for years now. I don't think I'm ready to trust that study just yet.

I've been trying to give up caffine and I have done really good, over three months now. I had gone for two months without caffine and decided to try hydroxcut. I took only two pills in the mid morning because I didn't want to take three full servings and get all of that caffine back in my system. I took two pills in the mid morning two days in a row, then on the third day I decided not to take any. I got a mild 'caffine' headache (I've had enough of these to know when I have one) on the third day. So I just tossed my hydroxycut because I just don't like having a depenency on any drug. Maybe I'm just very sensitive to caffine.

You know,losing weight is good, being fit is better yet, but risking my health/fitness to lose weight is not for me.

DeeDee, you may very well be sensitive to caffiene. Good for you for listening to your body. I think many of us on this forum are too well educated about fitness to believe that there are a shortcuts to results.

MHO.
