Hi everybody:

I am wondering if anybody is taking anything to give them a little boost in energy throughout the day? I am very busy and during the day I could sure use a boost. Sometimes by the time I get home from work I have to really push myself to exercise because I feel so lethargic. Anybody have some advice for me??

Thanks in advance...

:) Marcia :)

Would you consider moving your exercise time to mornings? I've done that, and NEVER miss a workout like I used to when I worked out later in the day. It's too easy to not do it when you're tired or get busy.

Second, I started to take Chromium Picolinate in the morning, and I found that it helps my energy level. Also staying away from starches during the day helps too, like no white potatoes. I stay with greens, tomatoes, some protein, and whole wheat bread or a pita. How you eat during the day makes a big difference.

AND, don't let yourself get hungry, or your energy level will drop like a rock.

Eating a snack in the afternoon really helps. A carb/protein mix like yogurt & fruit, veggie-bean soup or apple & peanut butter are great choices.

Are you able to take an afternoon break and go for a brisk walk? Even if it's only 10-15 mins. This can really re-energize you. I go for a 30-min walk every day at work around 2:00. My afternoons fly by and I have energy that lasts into the evening.

Last resort? A cup of coffee or tea. Don't go for the pills. They really effect your metabolism and heart rate

Good luck!

I know this may sound really obvious but it is something I overlook a lot when I am really busy - water! I have been obsessional about drinking water recently and it really has boosted my energy levels.

Hi Marcia! You've really gotten some great advice but all I can add to everything else is reading the book "Eat Smart Play Hard" by Liz Applegate. She has a meal plan addressing more energy through eating certain foods and beverages. I found this book to be invaluable to me. I too was lacking a great deal of energy and do make sure you get enough zzz's. This is so important. Kathy

I find that during my break (I'm currently at school), a quick 10 minute walk in the fresh air, and some cool water, really gives me a boost to get through the rest of the morning. A cup of coffee works for about half an hour, then it makes me more tired - so I try to avoid the coffee.

For me, there's nothing like some fresh air and water!
