Ebay/Paypal Trouble

I have been selling on ebay for about 8 years or so. This is the first.....

I sent out a package to an individual which I had delivery confirmation for. Package shows it was delivered to confirm address provided. Buyer has the nerve to file dispute with paypal even still. I would think paypal would side with me (seller) as I did deliver to confirmed address and provided confirmation number???? Or will evil paypal side with buyer? I just think this was extremely nasty and low of buyer to do when she can clearly see that I shipped to the address she provided me.

Thankfully, they do not always side with the buyer. I had a jerk who won a bunch of my auctions last year and then wouldn't pay. He then left me negative feedback saying the items he had received were damaged and not as they were described etc... I never shipped him anything obviously and he ruined my feedback in one swoop. Unfortunately, there are jerks like this on ebay. I explained my situation to eBay and they actually ended up banning the guy and removing his feedback. You have documentation that the item was delivered, so I would contact ebay and file a dispute against his dispute. Most likely he has done this to someone else. That was how it was in my case. About ten of us filed disputes on the same guy at the same time. Hope it works out for you!

I had the same thing happen to me last year. I sent a package out via UPS with tracking number and insurance to a confirmed address and the buyer filed a dispute with paypal. Paypal said they tried to fight on my behalf, but in the end, I lost the jacket I sent out, the shipping, plus the money for the jacket was refunded back to the buyer since the she called her credit card company and said something had been charged to her account without permission. Some shady people out there.

What more can you do then ship it to the address provided? There's a certain amount of responsibility on the part of the buyer - and you did what you thought was right. I think you're covered since you can document that the package was received. What a jerk though. can you leave them appropriate feedback for this???

Just be sure that you send to a confirmed address on paypal. If you do that, and use delivery confirmation, then you should be covered. I got taken by somebody who paid with a confirmed address, then for some reason, I had to refund and they paid again. This time, they used an unconfirmed address. I didn't notice the difference and sent it out, with delivery confirmation. Several months later, paypal contacted me and the money was taken from my account b/c the buyer used a stolen card. That was over $150 that I lost. Plenty of losers out there. Also, I learned that time that when paypal contacts you, you better respond immediately. I hadn't seen the email and contacted them as soon as I did see it. There is a very limited amount of time to respond before your seller protection goes by the wayside. Heaven forbid you are on vacation or your email is down! In my case, it didn't matter b/c I'd sent to the unconfirmed address so it wasn't covered anyway. Just beware on all fronts!! Paypal is generally very easy to deal with and they are very nice when you call.

Hi

I found out that with Paypal even if you had sent to a confirmed address with UPS or a delivery confirmation, and the buyer claims that the package wasn't received, they will still take the money out of your account.

Paypal needs a signature proof that the package was delivered. UPS usually leaves the package on the front step (without a signature of course) and delivery confirmation does not require a signature, so those are not enough protection.

Perhaps you can contact the buyer. Ebay usually provide the buyer's number.

Good luck.

I know that's right. I got 5 emails from paypal in about a few hours time...I was like..WTH???? I contacted them soon afterwards. And yes, the address was confirmed, but it looks like I might be screwed anyways. This stinks! I think I will take the advice of filing dispute against buyer on ebay..what else do I have to lose as it looks like I may lose money anyways...this is pretty much stealing...people getting stuff for free like this as I am sure she has received item. I hate when others make it so hard for honest people to just sell from time to time. I don't make my living off ebay, and I am sure it would be hard to with these things going on. Sad, really.

Of course I can't say if this particular person is stealing...but it may be possible that the person never got it. Just last week a package was delivered to my house (left on the doorstep), but it was for my neighbor (correctly addressed with HER name and address). Of course we just brought it to her, but others may not do this. I have had neighbors bring me packages like this twice. So it could have happened this way? (or maybe we just have crummy delivery service in my area!) In any case I do think you should pursue your dispute, just consider that the "receiver" maybe actually did not get it, and someone else is to blame (by accident, or deliberate misconduct). If the person really did something wrong, it is likely (like the other case mentioned in this thread), that it will show up as a repeated complaint and you will help solve the problem.
