Easy but dazzling cake recipe for Turkey Day

Don't spend a lot of time in the kitchen (you need that time to work out Thursday morning!) but take a cake to the dinner that will knock their socks off. I've posted this recipe before, but it merits repeating:

SOUTHERN PRALINE PECAN CAKE

INGREDIENTS:
1 (18.25 ounce) package butter pecan cake mix (Betty Crocker makes one)
1 (16 ounce) container coconut pecan frosting
4 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
1 cup chopped pecans

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9 or 10 inch Bundt pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Combine the cake mix with the frosting, eggs, oil, water and 1/2 of the pecan pieces. Mix until combined.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 of pecans in the prepared Bundt pan then pour in the cake batter.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

ONE CAUTION FROM ME: THE CAKE MAY FALL APART WHEN YOU TRY TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE PAN, SO YOU MAY WANT TO BAKE IT IN A COUPLE OF LOAF PANS, OR THE LIKE.

Just Do It! :)

This sounds simply HEAVENLY - I've never heard of a recipe that you combine the frosting and the cake mix before baking. WOW! I will have to try this one. Could you drizzle powder sugar frosting on top before serving??? I just can't imagine cake without frosting. :)

Thanks again
Marcia

Yuuum! I had planned to make that last year. Maybe this year I will get around to it. Thanks for posting it HB!

Believe me, this cake does NOT need frosting, and I'm the queen of sweet cakes with frosting! And I've never tried it with any other kind of frosting in place of the one called for, so I don't know how it would work.
Just Do It! :)

It's Butter Pecan, and I think Betty Crocker makes it. I've bought it, so I know it's out there.

Edited: I did a search on the cake mix and it look like it's not made anymore. I DID find a Pillsbury Golden Butter Recipe cake mix, and I'll bet all you would have to do would be to add chopped pecans to the cake batter, maybe 1/2 cup or so. I think this would work as a sustitute.
Just Do It! :)

I bought my ingedients last night - I got a Golden Butter Recipe cake mix and will throw in some pecans in the mix. I was not able to find Butter Pecan cake mix, but I'm sure this will work fine. I'm droolin' already! The store was out of pecans except for glazed pecans used for pies, but that will be good - the sweeter the better!
Just Do It! :)
