early morning workouts

I only recently started to do early morning work outs when I am able. I love them. Yes, it can be hard to get out of bed in the morning and to get moving off the chair after I've had my coffee but it's such a great feeling of accomplishment when I am done and I love not having to worry about getting my work out done later in the day! Sure, I get tired earlier but you can't have it both ways. I prefer to go to bed earlier and get up earlier during the week anyway.

Completely agree with everything said above. Up at 4:30 M-F and in bed at 9. I figure those days aren't mine anyway (work), so should start them off right. I feel sluggish and antsy (plus guilty!) if I don't do it. It would NEVER happen after work. On the weekend I do it later in the day. I do find that I burn more calories and am much more flexible the later in the day I do it. The metabolism is fully revved later in the day. In the morning I do it on an empty stomach, but drink one cup of coffee prior to starting. I find I need to do a light week about once every 3 months to be able to sustain this schedule. I feel brand new after that week.

I would love to workout in the evening, and always did prior to having children. But this schedule is the only one I can stick to consistently now.

I just did my first early morning workout in about 10 years! I woke up at 6AM (I know you ladies wake up earlier than that, but I have to start somewhere!) and I did Turbo Jam's Kick, Punch, and Jam. It was awesome! Now I have the rest of my day to not worry about my workout! :) :) :)

Now I just need to stay motivated... :)

Well, i have to admit i did enjoy my afternoon workout but i have to say i have anxiety about not getting it in (weird i know). On wednesday i have to go straight from work to my moms to help her get a christmas tree. I know that i won't be home before 7 so it looks like that will be an early morning workout day. On friday we are driving to tampa to go to busch gardens so once again, a morning workout is required. So i may just keep my morning workouts. Though it was nice to not be rushed and get up so early this morning, i always seem to have stuff come up when i get off of work thus making it just easier to do first thing so i don't have to worry about it.

I keep a pretty 'tight' schedule with AM workouts during the week and let things happen as they may on the weekends. (My checkin chickie friends will confer to that!:p).

M-F I am up between 5:30 and 5:45 and am working out from 6 - 7. If I happen to be a bit tired I stay in bed a little longer, shorten my workout to a "premix" or do half in the AM and hope I have the 'energy' for the other half after work. If not - oh well.

Sometimes I am just too tired or haven't gotten enough sleep (I cannot get to sleep before 11 most days) so I switch my weekend rest day for that day and proceed from there.

All in all, I am usually working out 6 days a week and throw in a 5/week here and there.

Don't let it run your life, but make the best of it when you can. That's what I say and I'm stickin' to it. :D

Take it as it comes. If you have to do a morning work out then so be it. If you have time for an afternoon work out then go with it. That's what I do. I try for mornings knowing I always have the afternoon as a secondary option. If I know ahead of time that I won't be able to work out during the afternoon then I make sure to get it in early and vice versa. I wouldn't worry about doing your work outs at the same time of day every day. That will make it more difficult for you. Keep your options open. A more flexible plan should make it easier for you to fit it all in.
