Early Morning Exercisers

I know that a lot of you wake up in the early mornings to workout. I was just wondering if you get up at 5:00 a.m., what time do you go to bed? I get up with my husband at 5:15 a.m. but then I crawl back into bed at 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. and then struggle to get out of bed because I feel like I just feel back asleep. I was thinking, I might as well stay up and workout during that time. No one to bother me, interrupt me but I am concerned that I will not make through the day or I will be grumpy.

Any advice or suggestions?

Debbie

Hi Deb,

I like getting up in the morning to exercise just for the reason you mentioned - no one bothers me. I get up at 4 am, workout and get to work by 6 usually. That way I can leave by 2:30. I vary what I do too - I usually do something that's shorter - like cardio on the TM because it takes 30 minutes. I also think its easier to plan more. If I exercise in the morning, I get my clothes ready the night before so I don't have to worry about ironing anything. I usually go to bed no later than 10 pm but it's easier on me if I go to bed around 9ish. If I stay up super late, I can't get up to exercise. I need at least 6 hours. You may have to experiment! :)

I need my sleep, so I am in bed by 9:30 most nights (I prefer 9:00, but it doesn't always work out). I get up at 4:45 to work out. It's just my routine now - go to bed early, get up early. :)

I have always HATED working out in the early a.m. but with everything going on my life, the a.m sessions have allowed me to get a workout done and out of the way and leave my afternoons free for the typical chaos. I'm getting used to it...and I'm okay with it actually. The hardest part is getting to bed early enough. I'm striving for 8:30 but last night was 10:30 by the time I settled in. x(

I get up at 4:15, have coffee, and start my workout at 4:45. I try to get in bed by 9:00. If I don't fall asleep until well after 10:00, it's mighty hard to get going that early.

I love working out in the early morning! Get up between 445 and 5, workout from 530-630 or 645. Most nights I am in bed by 9.

I get up at 4:30 a.m. to workout. If I'm not sound asleep by 10 p.m., I won't be able to get up that early the next day. I try to be in bed by 9 or 9:30, but 10 is my max.

Same with me. I get up between 4:45 and 5:00 a.m. and workout between 5:30 and 6:30 -- 6:45 a.m. I go to bed between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. This works best for me.:7

Count me in with the rest of the ones who are up at 4:30 and in bed by 9/9:30. I just like getting my workout done and knowing that I will do it. My coworkers who are not morning people are constantly skipping workouts because of life getting in the way. As life is usually asleep at 5:30AM, I'm able to get my workout in and be on my merry way before life catches up!

Those Early exercise ladies,

Can you let me know how many days you get up and work out? From the above posts, it seemed to me most of you work out about one hour. How do you fit in Cathe's workout that is longer than 60 min?

I try to do both cardio and weight. But I feel that if I don't have 60 min cardio, I don't see much fat lost. I need to lose at least 20lbs. I only can do 3 days per week - Wed, Sat & Sun. I am puszzling how to get all those rotations fit in my schedule?

Right now, I am doing Itread running. If I have time, throw in abs. But I don't see much result so far. It's being about 2 months
now. Any suggestions?

I get up 4:30am, I try to get to bed around 9:30pm. But mostly I am in bed around 10:30pm.

Thanks

I get up at 4am and try to start exercising by 4:10a. I am in bed by 9p and sometime earlier. Just depends on how I feel.

WantFit - I try to get in longer workouts but right now the ones that I know work for me are the 40-45 minute ones. Cardio is either spinning or the treadmill. Weight workouts I am using Cory's Basic body Sculpting workouts, they are on the older side but get the job done in 30-35 minutes. Just don't have time for the longer workouts. I exercise Monday-Saturday. Saturday is when I can do a longer cardio usually spinning 60-70 minutes. There are days where I would rather stay in bed but once I am up and moving I feel so much better. Saturday I don't get up at 4am, it is usually between 7 & 8a

I also get up at 4:45 am and workout from 5-6ish. I need to get to bed by 10 pm. I think starting out the day that way is a terrific way to start the day! Clarissa

Wow, the last time I went to bed at 8:30, I was 6 years old!! :7

LOL :7

It is so encouraging to know I'm not the only one up at 4:45. I'm exercising by 5, done by 6. This does give me time for an extra 10 minutes if needed, but generally I save anything longer for the weekend. It has been really hard this week to get up. Like I've been exercising after work! But with my cold, I'm justifying it!
I'm in bed by 9 usually. My kids make fun of me!

i get up at 5. i usually go to bed between 10 and 11. i really don't sleep well at night so i'm used to my schedule. i've been doing it for 8 yrs. even when i go to bed at 2 when i can't sleep my body wakes up at 5. i just make sure i get my 10 min power nap each day.

I really can't believe that some of you wake up so early. I do not know how you do it. I am up at 5:00 but as I said I run back to bed as soon as possible for another hour or so. I LOVE MY SLEEP!!! However, tomorrow I will try to stay awake and exercise.

I really don't think I could ever get to bed by 8:00 or 9:00. I guess I will aim for 10:00 p.m.. Wow!! Right now it is 9:50 p.m., so I guess I will be going soon.

Truthfully, life really does get in the way of my exercise and no matter how much I try to prioritize, something more important pops up. I think I will join the club and become an "early morning exerciser”.

For the past 2 weeks I have been getting up at 5 am. I usually go to bed by 9. If I am up past 10 it is really hard to get up.

Yahoo!!! I was able to get up at 5:00 a.m. and stay up and workout. It was great. I had no distractions. I did Bootcamp and my only problem was I kept repeating to myself "Cathe, it is too early for this." I guess I will get used to it. I am so tired now and I am going to bed now. I think this early morning thing, just might work. :D

You all are crazy ladies for sure!!}( I am a "mid-morning" person, and luckily since I work from home, I am able to do this.

I get up at 7am, drink my coffee (make a protien shake) and check emails and this board and start working out at 8:15. Like clockwork. I am in bed by 11pm, I find I am, at my best if I get at least 7-9 hours of sleep each night.

great job goldenpath. doesn't feel great once your done. tneah, i'm a mid morning exerciser too but my schedule at this time doesn't allow me to do so. one thing i'm sure i'm not is a late afternoon/evening exerciser. its like pulling teeth for me to do it after a busy day.
