Early morning / bloated

step23

New Member
Hi, I just started a new job and have to get up at 6am (I was very used to sleeping till 11am, so it's a shock). Of course, I'm very tired in the morning, but I also feel so fat and bloated, even before I eat- I have a belly too when I usually have a 'somewhat' flat one in the morning. Is this because I'm not sleeping as long as usual (I get about 6 hrs now vs 9 hrs before)?

Thanks for any advice

Could it be related to your menstrual cycle. I had read that taking 50 to 100 mgs of B-6 could help with premenstrual bloating and irritability, a problem that I suffer from half of each month. I have been taking B-6 and it really helps! Why are you sleeping less? I don't know how that would affect your belly but I wouldn't be surprised to find that it could. Sounds like an imbalance of some sort. If your symptoms persist, you should see your doctor to get a check up.

Hi Step23! Accumulative lack of sleep can have some serious effects on your system, as can stress. Starting a new job plus a new time schedule has you experiencing both of these situations. I'm sure as you adjust to your new schedule, these symptoms will subside some (if not, definitely get a check up). In the meantime, try not to eat heavy foods too close to bed time and also drink plenty of water throughout the day. Good Luck!

you're right- thanks

Since I started trying to go to bed earlier, but still had my late night snacks at the usual time, I was going to bed full of not so healthy food. I also didn't sleep nearly as long as usual.
I'm sure things will even out- I was just shocked to see a big belly first thing in the morning:)

I'm sure that you're probably right that this is caused by eating before bed and not getting enough sleep, and stress etc. But maybe you should check with a doctor if things don't get back to normal soon, as others have suggested. Not to freak you out or anything, but I've read that bloating can be a sign of ovarian cancer (which has few other symptoms).
