I just ordered Drill Max and am so excited to try it. It is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. I have done the cardio drills on the Cardio Fusion DVD and they are so fun. My question is this -- I usually do my cardio and weights on separate days, would you recommend that my first time doing Drill Max that I do the full body weights only pre-mix, or do the DVD as is. I haven't done a circuit training workout that mixes weights and cardio in years. Opinions please?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks Catherine -- you are right, I should. I dont know if I can make it, but I'll try. I plan to do it Wednesday morning and will post afterwards if I live through it!!

Circuit training is an awesome workout....it burns so many calories. You are going to love Drill Max. It is tough but stick with it. You will do great!!!!!!

I love doing the workout 'as is'. It kicks my butt every time. I haven't tried any of the premixes, I just have too much fun doing the original workout. So many workouts, so little time.

So Drill Max came today and I did it (as produced, not as a pre-mix). I was able to make it through the whole thing. I have to admit that the cardio cycles do seem more difficult when doing them with weights in between, as I had only done them alone in Cardio Fusion. I like the weighted work, I just felt like I needed more leg and back work. I can definitely focus on them later in the week though. It was a great workout and I worked up a sweat. I can see where it will help my general fitness level. A few parts of the DVD I struggled with:

1. I struggled with the speed of the walking lunges with a lateral raise. I couldn't do the 5# that Cathe and the crew used at that speed and had to lower to 3#.

2. I can't do push-ups on the ball yet and had to modify and do them on the floor.

3. I struggled with the forward and reverse reaching lunges with the ball. I just couldn't get my footing, but I think it will improve with practice.

4. After the first sets of bicep work I had to lower from the 10# that Cathe was using. I could have kept the 10# at a slower speed, but was trying to keep her pace.

5. I did the push-ups / side plank combo in the last cycle without weights because my 3# weights are round and would roll. Especially if going at that rate of speed.

I do think that this workout will be in my rotations in a regular basis, and hopefully over time I will be able to keep up with some of Cathe's weight/speed combinations better. Like I said above, it will help my overall fitness, not necessarily my strength. The cardio portions are so fun! I think that I will be doing only yoga tomorrow.

Monica, good for you!! I haven't done DM "as is" in a long time. I'll have to put it in to my rotation soon. I usually don't do circuit training, but a little change can be good for the soul eh?

One of my favorite workouts; try the pre-mix with all cardio, I think it's called ultra cardio

Is that the pre-mix with the cardio sessions twice in a row? I would really struggle to do that blast twice where you hold the stability ball through the whole thing!

Monica, can you have your hands on the ground for the pushup and then quickly grab them for the rotation moves? I can't recall exactly what they do in the DVD but that's what I have my bootcampers do when they perform similar moves with the round weights.
