Double Benching

I mean two step benches. Like a home bench and an away bench, where the step routine moves from one bench to another in the transition. Cathe doesn't have any double bench routines and I would like to see her do a DVD or series of DVDs where she uses two benches (either side by side; one in front of the other; L shape; etc.). I hope that answered your question. :)

I received a reply from Cathe and she said that many viewers don't want to buy a another step bench and so for that reason she didn't think she would ever do a DVD using two benches. But I beg to differ. I think if she marketed it, there would be a big response to buying those DVDs, especially for instructors. When you start searching the market for double benching, there is absolutely nothing on DVD except one (Seasun Zieger). It would be nice to see other instructors produce a DVD using two or more benches to give us a different workout. There is only so much you can do with one bench and then all the routines become complacent. I'm glad you agree. Maybe if someone else asks Cathe about it, she might be willing to do it.

The following was her exact reply:

Hi Zhenry! Thanks for your interest, however, probably not since most of our target audience does not own more than one full sized step and have expressed in the past the unwillingness to buy a lot of bulky items that they have no room to store in their homes.

Keep the ideas coming though :)

Take Care,
Cathe

zhenry,

I would buy it (and another step for that matter) but I think you and I would be in the minority. Maybe other people will chime in with support but it's true that many people have limited space and wouldn't have room for the extra equipment. But for the record, I would LOVE it if Cathe did this! :)

I actually have two step platforms, but I'm not gung ho for a double-step workout simply because of the room it could take.

I do think that it could be interesting for Cathe to do a workout incorporating both the step platform and the high step platform (which many of us DO have) for cardio in some way. Maybe setting up a pattern with the two platforms.

I'd also like to have some vertical step workouts: either the entire workout, or segments of a longer workout. Though Cathe does use the step sometimes in a way that one would when using it vertically, actually turning it lengthwise towards the TV giVes a different feel to the workout.

I wonder if the step could be used in an incline sort of manner (much like the incline step from the Firm a few years ago)? I think that would be fun! And I also like Kathryn's idea of using the step in a vertical position and with the high step as well.

Carolyn

I also like Kathryn's idea of vertical stepping. And I remember the firm's incline bench. Thanks for the support.

I would like to have a double step routine. I have the room, but many don't.

I also love Kathryn's idea for using the high step and the platform we do step workouts on. Great Idea! I want it!

The idea is to die young as late as possible

thanks for the support. I also have the room and I do know that some don't. So the next question is how do we convince Cathe that she should do it?

Maybe more people will chime in and support it? The more I think about it, the more I want one too!;-)

Buying an extra step is a problem for me. This is the reason why I stop buying the Firm workout video-sets. Everytime the Firm comes out with new videos they expect people to buy new equipment. :-(

I use to do double step back in the early 90's when I belonged to a gym and I have to say it was so much fun. I happen to have 2 steps, (1) my original cheap one, and then I got a better one from Reebok. They may not be the same hight, I never put them side by side before, but maybe they all have the same step hights. One would think so. I thought I'd keep the old one incase a friend wanted to do step with me one day...never did yet, but hey, you never know.
We just bought a new house (closing in Aug) and I will have a 2 car garage for my gym. So I'd have lots of room.

I think there will be some people who would love this idea, and some that just wont, but I think there will be enough to justify doing the dvd. That's my take.

SNM could do a survey, like they did several years ago when deciding what type of equipment people had/wanted to use in workouts.

I think it would be a good idea to do a survey asking people what kind of 'new' equipment-oriented workout styles they would be interested in buying--double benching, rebounding, Bosu--and the amount of interest shown could determine what would be made.

does sound like fun but why buy another bench just for a couple more workouts? what if i dont like them? then i'll be stuck with an extra bench. plus, not enough room. i'm sure i'm not the only one with that problem. a survey would be good just to see other opinions. sorry!
