Don't see a change

When I said I think of myself as matronly, I didn't mean that I think I am overweight. I guess it was my way of trying to describe my shape... typcial Jewish apple shape. After reading your post, however, I realize it doesn't make much sense. It's probably my brutish negative body image up to its old tricks again. Thanks for your comment.

RE: RESEARCH........

Hey, Anna! Thanks for that one!! What good news. Can't wait to breeze through menopause! If you have any articles on this, I'd sure love to read them.

I have been taking fish oil capsules for about a week now, and will continue to do so. I will also try your other recommendations. Thanks for the tips!

RE: RESEARCH........

Hi Nancy,

I strongly recommend you purchase from Amazon.com, 'The PMS Bible' by Dr Katharina Dalton. She pioneered research into PMS in the 1950s, in the UK, and has since gone on in leaps and bounds in her research over the past 40+ years. The book is fascinating - it tells you everything you just about need to know about PMS/PMDD. She also went as far as to set up PMS clinics at various hospitals around the UK, and set up the UK's official PMS charity, which her daughter runs.
Dr Dalton was the doctor to suggest PMS sufferers eat an energy snack every 2-3 hours, in the lead up to the dreaded P !

I DEFINITLEY recommend it !!!!!!!

RE: FORGOT ABOUT GERANIUM ESSENTIAL OIL !

Hi Nancy,

Another self-help PMS treatment to look into is the essential oil Geranium, either through research by yourself, or seeking the advice of an aromatherapist. Geranium is known as the female oil, as it is fortifying in times of hormonal imbalance. Used as a bathing oil, massage blend (I use it through a vaporisation method, such as an electrical essential oil burner, safer for overnight use, it helps me wake up in a better mood if I leave it burning overnight, using an electrical burner). It eases PMT, relieves painful periods, and tender breasts. Geranium can also help as an anti-depressant. It cannot be used however during pregnancy.
I would though if embarking on the world of essential oils, read as much as you can about the subject and seek the advice of a qualified Aromatherapist.

Connie-

I wish I could fit a step in my apartment. I am SO BORED with the treadmill at the gym. If I could just have a step in my apartment, I would probably do a lot more cardio, because Cathe never gets boring. But if I were to buy a step, my apartment would start to look really cluttered to me, and that would make me unhappy. And, unfortunately, as I've been lamenting, my gym has very few step classes anymore, and I can't get home in time for any of them.

Do you think I should try a Cathe step tape with my Novel Notion box? Or without anything? Could it work??

(As for food, I love cottage cheese, whole wheat bread, apples and everthing else you mentioned, as well as every other type of food. I just love food. :) But I like to be able to eat what I want, and don't see myself as the food diary type.)

Thanks for your help Connie!

RE: Apples and PB

How 'bout peanut butter and banana? Mmm! Now, you're talkin'! Of course, then you've got a higher sugar fruit to go with your high fat peanut butter...

Angela

Hi Nancy!

Well, Interval Max is just kickin' without a step. Caution: do not try Cathe's step tapes with the novel notion box! You would kill yourself.

Then there's Cardio Kicks, and CTX Kickbox, neither of which require a step. Good luck!

Elvis' fried peanut butter and banana sandwich

Ever tried Elvis' favourite snack? Fried peanut butter and banana sandwich.

You spread smooth peanut butter on two medium sliced white bread and then mashed banana sandwiched in between. You then fry both sides in butter until golden brown.

I heard it's very good from those who love rich foods.

Just wanted to jump on the PB and apple train. DON'T be afraid of natural peanut butter. It's a great source of healthy fats!!

RE: Elvis' fried peanut butter and banana sandwich

Have to agree with yen that 3 months is not really all that long! I have been doing almost exclusively Cathe for about 9 months now...and it took a while to see results, and it also took, like in yen's case (and Connie mentioned this too) adding in Imax, and the PS series. But like you, wha I first noticed was firmness-I realised that although I wasn't "cut", I wasn't jiggly either.

FWIW, I think 5'3" and 115 is pretty light. You could probably eat more protein, lift heavier, and add some pounds of muscle. I'm 5'1", maybe 5'2", and I weigh 120. I'm also an "apple", I guess...but if I was much lighter I'd have no chest left!!

RE: Elvis' fried peanut butter and banana sandwich

Just curious...How often do you do the ps series and imax??

Yen , how long and how often do you run? I love running..but i do it on the treadmill..it is great if you want a good sweaty workout without having to really concentrate to hard.

Running

I have only been running twice a week so far because I suffer terribly from pain in my knees (I don't have any problems with them when I step or do any other cardio at home, but I took up running because it gets me out of the house and meeting people). How I really suffer for it though...

We do sprints on a track and I do running on my own or with friends over the weekend. I like running because what i do with my club is such a hard cardio workout. However, because of my sore legs afterwards, I cannot do BodyMax or other stepping, which really annoys me.

I do 3 weights session a week, one all body like MIS, PH or BodyMax (with cardio if I can manage it) and PS. I do PS Legs one day and PS Upper body all the following day. I have been doing it for about 2-3 weeks. I will continue until I am bored and the change rotation.

RE: Elvis' fried peanut butter and banana sandwich

I have to tell you that I used to work for Smucker's and I HATE their natural peanut butter! I was raised on Jif, and was SO glad, and so were the majority of the rest of the employees, when they bought Jif.

I don't work there anymore, but I DID enjoy it when that happened. I just don't like that natural stuff, I'm sorry. I hope I get Xmas presents anyway.

Just Do It! :)

Runathon, Clare-
This is a topic that I am sure will be of interest to many people in this forum. Someone should start a separate new topic in the general discussion area, and I think it should be one of you because of your awful experiences. Find out how many others suffer like this and what they do about it. I'll be happy to chime in, as always!

Hi Nancy,
I have been doing Cathe tapes and the Firm all of 2 months along with some intense cardio at the gym at first I saw very little change but after I modified my food intake and got more serious.
I have saw change I still wear the same old size 12 however they're a lot looser fitter in every way and my body shape has
started to look a lot better not so full round and butterballish
but more upright and lean. I see it and so does my co-workers even my neighbors. Im happy stick with it change will come.
I've got a long ways to go before I reach my pinnacle but I see
it coming and im going to continue working at it.
