Doing P90x and noticed..

Gemini girl

Cathlete
…that Tony must have a crush on the blonde (I want to say her name is Draya Weber)! In the chest and back video, while introducing everyone he’s gushing at how gorgeous she is, and then goes to the other girl in the back and the only thing he said about her was that she has nice teeth. Then yesterday, I was doing shoulders and arms, once again; he kept commenting on how gorgeous Draya is, and that her form is perfect. Which, by the way, IMO, I think her form is good, but she’s not lifting nearly enough weight. In each weight segment, she seems to pick weight that’s so light for her. I know this is a silly post, but I just wanted to see if I’m the only one that noticed!

On another P90x topic- Tony does the lunges with a straight back leg, and I’ve never seen them done like this –Cathe always said “your legs should be 2 right angles” so I’m wondering which form is correct/better? And what’s the difference?

Thanks!

I think the same thing about Tony & Dreya everytime I watch it. He doesn't say that kind of stuff about any of the girls in any of the other video's. I'm actually kind of annoyed about how he treats some of the other girls. In Back & Chest, he interupts the little German chick a couple times, and in Legs & Back he acts like the girl with the nice teeth is kinda wimpy, like asking if she can handle the exercise, and in my opinion she looks just as strong as Dreya.

Just an observation. I know I don't know these people and I'm not trying to call Tony a jerk or anything, so please don't slam me.

I have noticed that about the lunges also. I go by what Cathe says. I feel more comfortable doing them that way.

I like Tony too - actaully, I think he's great and easy on the eyes. But you're right, he does treat Dreya differently and that's just annoying! But the German girl bugs me more than anything - (don't slam me, please!) but she looks like she completed the workout before it even starts, and they way she says "20" (when Tony asks how many reps she's going to do) throws me over the edge -it's something about it!

OK, it's off my chest! : )

This always make me laugh too whenever Tony introduces Dreya. Especially when she takes her jacket off & Tony's just oggling her & states "Oh the top's coming off!" Yes he must be IN LOVE w/Dreya & why not she is GORGEOUS even w/out any makeup onx( Tony cracks me up he's so funny! Kathy:D

Came back to address your lunge question. I actually find that using a straight leg opposed to your knee bent much better; I personally don't have any twingy knees anymore. But this is just me I think you should do whatever position is most comfortable for you.

haha! Yeah, she kind of bugs me too.

I like Pam (the blam!) from Plyo. She looks like she could kick serious butt. Dreya and the chicklets girl are in great shape too.

I think several of the guys are really cute.

I know! I also think it's funny as soon as he says that about taking her shirt off, the other girl immeadiately takes her shirt off, like she thought he was telling them to take their shirts off.

Okay, I probably could find something more constructive to do with my time, but here's my take: Dreya and Tony know each other very well, she was in the Power 1/2 Hours, so he probably knows her better and longer than the others. Also, she is married to one of the CEO's of BeachBody, and it probably doesn't hurt to butter up the boss' wife. Of course, it could just be a crush, too!

I don't know if there is an advantage to doing the lunges straight or bent leg. I've been trying to find out. It may be his yoga background has an influence here, because they usually have you keep the back leg straight, like in the warrior poses. But, if anyone has more info on this, I'd love to hear about it!

I thought this was weird too. I changed it to good old Cathe's way, two right angles. I actually tried both and the right angles felt more intense.

As far as Tony and Webber case, he could just saying that since she was a one of instructor who coached many moves in P90X. Anyone could be impressed her if you seen her moves from the Making of the P90X clips.

Is Tony single? I think I heard him saying in one of the workouts that he is almost 46 years old. Is this true? He looks darn good for his age.;-)

I find myself wishing they would get a room already. It kills me when he says to hug your neighbor in the legs workout and of course he hugs Dreya. So much fun to watch.

If my memory serves me correct I think Dreya is married to one of the big wigs at Beachbody. So that could be why he pays her so much attention...:)...as for the lunges, different instructors use different moves. I think keeping the back leg straight gets to the front legs glutes deeper... :D just my opinion....Carole

I don't care what the situation is w/Tony and Dreya but I DO want her BODY! ONLY in the sense that I want my bod to LOOK like hers! LOL :D

Yes, Tony and Dreya are friends, as are Tony and Dreya's dh.
What gets me is that Dreya can pump out a good number of pull-ups with no assistance, and outdoes the guys on the side-tri-rises (which I can do also, I think those are harder for guys because of their higher center of gravity)--basically rocks most body-weight exercises (except for Groucho walks, which are pathetic!) and then uses very light weights (ok, maybe not "very," since we aren't talking 3-5# here) for the dumbbell exercises.

As for the lunge form, I've seen both versions in magazines like Muscle and Fitness Hers. I'm not sure what the difference is as to muscles worked, if there is much of one, but it's possible the straight-leg version emphasises the front leg a bit more, because the back leg really can't do much of the pushing. I'd say try a few each way and see how they feel to you, then stick with the one you prefer. I do the straight-legged ones in P90X, for variety.

The first time i used p90x and noticed Tony and Dreya i was actually offended. I think there is a time and place, and in a very public and popular video is not the place. It reminds me of a few gyms i've gone to in the past, and the reason i work out at home now.

that being said, after doing the workouts a few times, i realized the value of "tony off" option when drooling over her gets too obnoxious for me.

I really like p90x and have decided not to let it bother me. As far as the lunges go, i'm sticking with the way i've been doing it in Cathe's vids cause they just feel safer to me.
However, i did have some SERIOUS doms after doing legs and back!!!

I just started P90X and I don't take it that way. I just see it as Tony letting everyone know what these workouts can do for you. Like, he's saying she looks good because these workouts are effective. Maybe it's just me. *shrugs*

But then again I've only done Core Synergistics, Shoulders & Arms, and Plyo X so far. Maybe I'll change my mind after watching more.

:)

Hi Dani. I hope you don't end up changing your mind. :) I view Tony as a trainer in these workouts and like you, I think his main message is to let us know what these workouts can do for us.

I also knew Dreya from Power Half Hour, so I knew that Tony and Dreya had done another series together. Plus, I also knew that her husband is one of the main guys at BB. :)

Thanks Kepi. I probably won't change my mind. :) It seems they're just good buddies and he's proud of this workout program, and it's effectiveness.

I'm in my third week of P90X and I really don't like Tony that much but I love the workouts. I just use the music and cues option so I don't have to listen to him babble on and on. Works for me.

I HAVE CURIOSITY. I HAVE SEEN THE BEACHBODY HOME PAGE AND THE SUCCESS HISTORYS AREINCREDIBLES.ARE THEY REAL?.P 90 X IS HARDER THAN CATHE?. WHAT DO YOU PREFER?I THINK NOTHING CAN BE SO FUN AND INTENSE THAN CATHE.WHAT MAKES P90X SO SPECIAL?.THANK YOU.

I believe the success stories are real but only if you follow the strict diet that they give you to do with the program. Personally the diet is too limited for me, but I did get great results with Power 90 a few years ago and am now doing P90X and love it.

I wouldn't say it's harder than Cathe just different. There are a lot of push ups and pull ups in it, and you also incorporate Yoga. They never use a barbell, either hand weighs or resistance bands. When I am done with the three months of using P90X, I will incorporate that and my Cathe workouts into different rotations. I like them both.
