Does your DH work out?

Hello Ladies

I really don't know many guys who work out, and I consider my DH is pretty good on that already, but he is so resisted to do any cardiovascular workout, which worries me. Not that he needs to lose weight, in fact, he looks great, but the benefit of doing cardio is great! It can prevent heart disease, high cholesterol, and many more! The only workout he does is weight lifting, and if any cardio, it's kick boxing, which he rarely does.

I am having the hardest time getting him to do aerobic, run, even walk, and he keeps telling me that he's pretty healthy compare to a lot of people (he does eat clean). He's still young (in his late 20s), but I really think he should start doing some sort of cardio and make it part of his life.

Help, anyone? ;(

I am fortunate that my DH does workout. He lifts weights and does cardio. However, the only reason that he does cardio is because he found out that he loves to ride his bike!!! That is all that he does (cardio-wise) and he is crazy about it which is good. I really don't think that he would do cardio workouts that much if he didn't find something that he really loved though. Maybe if you guys trained together for a 5K or 10K race or something he might start running. Or you could try a bunch of different things together (biking, swimming, etc...) with the hopes of him really liking something. Just a suggestion.

On another note, I got DH to do Core Max #2 the other day (after about 3 months of asking) and he was sore for 4 days }( .

No Way! My hubby is very thin he is a carpenter and he is always working so I figure that's better than nothing. He could care less about exercise.

My DH works out at his corporate fitness center. He does the Elliptical machine or treadmill and free weights. The only thing I told him he needs to work on is stretching. He has no flexibility at all! Susan

Like Karin's husband, my DH is a cyclist. In the off season though he runs either outside or on the treadmill. He's always been active. He also lifts. They have a nice workout room at the police department and they can work out as part of their work day for an hour (if ONLY I could include this in my work day!). It's actually mandatory since they got a chief that is very physically fit, but the same people who worked out before (like my DH) are the same ones who work out now and the others fake it. What a waste!

If he could find an activity he likes and a goal (running a 5K or something) that would really help. Also if he had some friends who like to work out maybe they could do that together. The benefits of cardio are way too many to not do it, as you've said.

Good luck!

Susan

I bought DH Power 90 for his birthday in Feb. He asked for it. And I was so excited, thinking he was gonna get into working out. Well, I can probably count on both hands the number of times he has used these. I too worry about hubby not getting enough exercise. :-(

Yeah my husband works out. He is in the Army and does the regular PT with his unit but he also does more on his own. He wakes up at 4:30 am and goes to the gym to lift weights. Then he goes to PT at 6:30 am and does PT with his unit until 7:30 am where they do mostly running or pushups, situps stuff like that. Then in the evening after dinner we usually go for a walk with our 3 and 4 year old kids. I do my Cathe workout in the morning. I want to start running though (Haven't ran outside since I got out of the Army in 2001). I told him that when we get to our new duty station at the end of this month that I want us to start running together. We'll see how that ends up though because we are moving from FT. Hood, TX to Fort Sam Houston, TX which is in San Antonio. I hate the heat so I don't know if I'll be able to run in the evening. Maybe we'll run together on the weekends in the morning. I have yet to get him to do a Cathe tape. He says he would be able to do it easily but I doubt it!!!

In the early years of our marraige my DH did run with me. Knee surgery in 1987 changed that...:(...I have tried so much and wished he would workout. I invite him to do any of the workouts I do...but to no avail. Yes I worry constantly as I see him having some issues with his back and I know damn well if he worked out more there wouldn't be the issues...of course my Obsessive compulsive exercise habits might not help... :+ x( :)

My DH is like Beth's. He's a tall skinny banquet manager at a hotel, so he's running around every day and carrying heavy things like trays of food, etc. He has run a few races with me without even bothering to train for them. His response? "I ran in high school. I don't need to do that any more." :p

When his assistant left, he lost 12 pounds!!!! Just from going to work and having to run around twice as much. At this point, I've learned to just let him do his thing. His eating is getting a little better, though, so I'm thinking he's making baby steps, LOL.

My husband likes to ride his bike as well, and he likes to go for walks in the park with me and our dogs. But his favorite past time is golf. He used to work out in a gym many moons ago when he was younger but won't step foot in one now.

Meow,

Your DH sounds similiar to mine. My DH works out on the weekends. On rare ocassions do I see him workout during the weekday. He is actually looking pretty good lately even though not alot of cardio going on. Been trying to eat healthy. Slipping here and there, but generally eats healthy.
