Does MIS use a step?

Hi, I considering buying MIS. I know that I can use dumbells instead of the barbell - my question: does this tape use a step? I don't have one - can I do without? Thanks!

For the lower body work, Cathe uses the step for lunges, but you can do the lunges without the step I guess. The step is used as a weight bench for upper body, though, and if you don't have a weight bench I'm not sure what you could use as a substitute.

Hi!

Yes, a step is used. If you go to the home page, and on the left side of the page under "order Cathe's videos" scroll down and click on Maximum Intensity - Strength". There will be a complete description of the video, along with a list of equipment needed.

Hi,
The warmup of the video is a short step routine (5-7 minutes) which could be done without the step. As someone else mentioned, the lunges could be done without the step. I think you colud do the weight work that Cathe does on the step on several cushions stacked up--she does chest work laying on the step, but you just need your torso elevated, so I don't see why pillows wouldn't work...
It's such a great tape, you should get it; and then if you don't plan on getting a step for step workouts, you could always just buy a small used one from Play it Again Sports or something...

You may as well get a step....along with using it for the MIS tape, we will talk you into getting some Cathe step tapes if you hang around these forums long enough!;-) Folks have seen them cheap at Sam's Club, so you might try there.

I modify since I'm "stepless"

I do MIS without a step. I just do the warm-up on the floor and try to use big motions to make up for the lack of up-down movement. For the lunges, I usually just use two phonebooks stacked on top of each other, although I've considered using my Rubbermaid stool that I use for a tallbox. The chest presses I do on the floor, which isn't ideal but doable. It just means my range of motion isn't the greatest, but since your elbows shouldn't really go below chest level anyway, I don't think it's too compromised. And I do all of them flat rather than at an incline. I'll admit, however, that I'm scouring Play it Again Sam stores in search of a step -- but that's more b/c I'm pregnant and pretty soon won't be able to lay flat on my back so I really want the step for the incline possibilities. Overall, I think it's fine to do without a step.

Hope that helps!
