Does it get easier?

I am new to Cathe, but not to working out. I was the step queen in the 90s lol. I am having such a hard time with some of Cathe's moves! I did Step Blast this morning and spent most of the challenge at the end hopping around like an idiot. I never had trouble keeping up before. Do these routines get easier as you do them more often?

I am going to a step class at Bally's tomorrow and will be interested to compare. I haven't been to one in about a year.

YES! They do get easier, and as a result, more fun! Be patient with yourself, and before you know it you'll be wondering what the problem was in the first place. I can do Rhythmic Step in my sleep, but remember a time when it frustrated me to no end, and the majority of the workout was spent doing stationary marches with a bewildered expression on my face.

Welcome to Cathe-land!

Sandra

Thank goodness! I thought I just was too clumsy for Cathe even though I can do Firm or Gin's step just fine!

So far I've only had a problem with All Step and Step Blast. I did okay with Rhythmic!

Hello,
YES is will get easier and easier once you get the moves down:D
Good luck!! Hope you have FUN in your class:)

Take Care,
~Nicole

That is so true! Now that I know most of the steps I can pretend I actually know how to dance LOL.

Pedmom it's so funny you got RS down easily & not Step Blast. RS was the hardest for me (I'm like the least coordinated person I know) & I still haven't gotten section 3 down yet.

I will add that once you get used to Cathe's style the rest of the workouts will come a little easier. There are certain basics you find in almost all of her workouts.

What's really different is getting used to the names of the moves---different instructors use different names for the same moves. It will be interesting tomorrow at a class to hear her call out a step I know as something else and stand there looking at her like a dope. LOL.

You just keep at it!

I remember the first "step challenge" class I took at my gym (when I was a member), from the legendary "she-stops-for-nobody-even-if-you-fall-over-dead-on-the-floor" instructor (which was exactly right), I was facing left when everyone was facing right, back when they were front, alternating when they were repeating - it was atrocious. I wasn't used to ANY of her terminology. But being the determined soul I am, I went back, and eventually grew to LOVE that class! It was the only one that made me red-faced and out of breath (until Cathe).

So keep at it - your love of exercise will keep you going strong! It DOES get easier!:)

Yes, Jill it gets easier. I still have trouble on that last combo in RS. I don't have Step Blast but I am still working on some of the moves in the step workouts of CTX. I told you before I still fall off my step on certain moves if I don't pay attention to what I am doing or if I get distracted.:+ And my boys distract me often!!

At least Cathe is pretty consistant with her names for her moves. I have noticed that, so once you have the names and moves down you will have them for future workouts. :D

Have fun!!:D

DEFINITELY it gets easier. Believe me, if I can learn Cathe step, anyone can.
Now I find that her new step tapes don't present as much of a problem for me to learn, because I'm used to her style.
FUN FUN FUN! LOVE step!

All Step to me is to choreography to learn for newcomer of "Cathe". I wonder if that tape still comes with the step. If I remember that Cathe is replacing that one with Basic Step.

Well anyway like everyone said it will get better. I remember when I couldn't do RS so I put it a side for a while and then got it back out and practice for a few times. Now I could finally do it and feel like the dancing queen:).

I read your post and just had to laugh....because I am "miss uncoordinated". Although I have had "alot" of practice...I still end up hopping around like an idiot!! That's what makes it Fun!! :p

Welcome to Cathe!!

I think it gets easier and more fun with practice. I remember being so afraid of RS that I left it on the shelf forever, but now I find myself trying to fit it in whenever I can. I could kick myself for not trying it sooner!;-)

Thank you everyone for the encouragement! (except you needsmotivation/Lisa LOL)

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that is a bit intimated by Cathe's step! I just got High Step Circuit off a swap and am sooo excited to get it. It looks great!
