do you workout for more than 1hr

I work out about an hour a day, 5-8 total hours per week. Sometimes I'll workout twice a day and very occasionally I'll do parts of 2 dvds to make up about 1.5 hours.

i usually WO for about 1 hour 15 minutes 6 days a week. I have been following Cathe's rotations for the past 2 months but I usually alternate cardio & weight days. If I've been feeling sore I may put a long stretch segment in there also.

There are days I did 3 workouts: pilates, yoga and my rotational workout. I would break them up though. Depending on the workout, it is easily over 60 minutes, not including yoga.

I prefer to keep my workouts to 45-60 min because of time constraints, but during my training season, I have no choice but to run 2, 3, sometimes 5+ hours on a long run (my 20-miler is this weekend, so that'll probably take at least 5 hours). During my off-season, I get to stick to a more manageable schedule of 45-60 min.

This is one reason I haven't been able to use a lot of Cathe's later workouts; I always feel as though I'm cheating somehow if I do a pre-mix (I know, silly), but I just don't have the time (nor the energy!) to work out for longer than an hour, especially when I've just finished 5 months of grueling marathon or half-marathon training.

I usually workout for about an hour (sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less, depending on the workout), but when I work out fewer days (like now, when I only have 4 days I can fit in a workout), I will sometimes do longer workouts (again, it depends on the workout: sometimes I do a more intense 45-60-minute workout).

Yep....

I do. I've gotten used to it from marathon training, then triathlon training. I couldn't fit in the running, biking, swimming w/out doing more than an hour a day. And I won't give up my strength training. Some days I'll do 2 workouts (cardio in the morning, at least an hour, and then weights in the evening, usually 45 min- an hour). But then I might have a lighter day of 30 min and I take one full day off a week.

It really just depends on what I'm training for and how I'm feeling. If I feel like I'm overtraining then I do more yoga and don't push as hard. It's what works for me.

Oh, and I don't even really count the walking I do w/ my dh & kids in the evenings or just regular every day activities. :D I just feel better when I'm active! ;)

Nope, not me. My average work out is 30-60 mins long. Some of my runs are longer but only b/c I am training for a long distance race. If I wasn't in training I would rarely ever work out past the 60 minute mark. The only exception to that rule is a Cathe work out that is a bit longer that I am doing in full but that's pretty rare....

When I am actually working out consistently (it's been a little patchy lately), I average 90 minutes. Anything less than that and I feel like I didn't do "enough". My DH hates it when I got over 60 minutes though and usually whines for the next 30 minutes trying to get me to stop and do something "profitable"...

I used to do about 90 mins a day, but recently have been really busy and cut back to 45-60 mins and haven't noticed a differences in my body and seem to be still gettin a good workout. Granted I do an intense 45-60 mins, but still.

I've been training for a long bike ride which I did this past weekend, so it wasn't unusual that once a week I would do a long ride - 3-4 hours and throwing in another longer ride (90 or so minutes) during the week. I know there are a lot of runners who do long runs as well.

The problem with working out like that is that it's very hard to truly calculate your nutritional needs. I just tend to give myself a more or less free day when I do such a long ride (I still try to eat unprocessed, healthy foods, though, or else other issues such as bloating come in to play). Seriously, though, if I do not eat enough that day of a long ride, I will be starved throughout the week. I've learned to be very careful with that especially as I am usually not very hungry after a long ride (yesterday I was, though :eek:).

Yeah, me too, trust me! He's lucky he hasn't been hit in the head with a dumbbell yet...

Liann,
No jury of Cathletes (your peers) would convict you. No question that would would be justifiable homicide or aggravated assault (if he's lucky and your aim is clouded by sweat :p)
