Do you shower and shampoo after every workout?

With time restricted, do you take a shower and shampoo your hair after workouts? How about people who workout more than once a day, especially trainers, how do you manage that?

I'm trying to workout twice a day and find it difficult to maintain my personal hygene. I take a shower and shampoo my hair in the morning after my am workout. I have a short cardio at noon for about 30 mins. I just wipe off and do nothing with the hair because I'm at work. But I feel I need to wash it again at night.
Any advice? Please share what you normally do.
Thanks!

I guess I only workout in the morning, so it isn't an issue for me...BUT, I've heard there are dry shampoos out there (never used one myself)...That should take care of sweaty, oily, post-workout hair!!

I will sometimes workout out twice a day - AM and at noon. If I'm lifting at noon, I don't really need a shower - just a quick wipe down. If I do spin or step, I grab a quick shower, but do not wash my hair. I will blow it dry, though, to get that icky feel out of it - but I have long hair and do not have an extra 15 minutes to blow dry it after a workout at noon.

I say give yourself a little freedom. :) I always take a quick shower when I get sweaty, but shampoo is not always necessary. Sometimes it is, sometimes keeping the hair dry works okay, sometimes a rinse with water is works fine, too. Depending on your hair type, you might damage it from overwashing if you wash it twice a day.

Well, I always shower after cardio, but I try not to shampoo my hair every day as it makes the color wear too fast. I do generally rinse with water and conditioner. However, if I work out multiple times in one day, I don't get too obsessive over hygiene!

A couple days a week I work out twice a day, once in the morning at home and then again at lunch at a gym. I only lift weights at lunch, so I don't get too messy. I'll take a quick shower (out of respect for my coworkers) but I don't bother to wet or wash my hair (no time for hair drying).

I shower after every workout (although sometimes it is a super fast one ;) ) but I don't wash my hair every time. It takes like 20 - 30 minutes to dry so I just can't do it. Most often it isn't soaked anyway and I can get away with not washing or just drying the damp areas.

This question seems very familiar. I'm sure someone asked about showering once or twice a day in a thread a few months ago.

I shower once a day, after my afternoon workout. In the a.m. , I will do a sponge bath of areas that need it.

I wash my hair every other day most of the time.

I have long hair so I only wash it once a day no matter what. How about washing your hair at night and not in the morning? That way it will be clean after your noon workout. When I worked out twice a day, I took a shower and shampoo once a day and a bath the other time.

Dear Christine,

I also have long hair that I am trying to grow down to my waist, and it also needs a fifteen minute blowout. I figured that I wanted to have waist long hair before I was too old to enjoy it.

The shower thing is a Pain if you work out 2x every day..LOL

I tend to try to do my cardio first, as I sweat the most when I do cardio..then I shower and wash my hair and run errands and do stuff.

I save my weight workout for the afternoon or early evening...I sometimes shower after that workout..sometimes not..just depends on how sweaty I am.

I used to teach a noon spinning class, and I would take a quick shower but not wash my hair, I would just blow dry it and go. I have always had long hair, which is nice as pony tails are quick and easy...LOL

yes. I'm kind of anal about that. I don't feel clean otherwise, but that's just me personally. I don't think I would have ever had time to workout during work. I much prefer it at a time when I can get in the whole shebang, shower, and move on with my day - or sleeping if it's late!

I do cardio in the morning so naturally I shower before I go to work. But I lift after work & unless it's a really tough workout I don't shower. I might rinse off (with antibacterial soap--you just never know what you're touching at a gym) & moisturize but that's about it.

I'm really hesitant about showering or shampooing too much. Neither is good for the skin/hair & I rarely shower twice a day.

I work out after work (but in the a.m. on weekends), and if I've done heavy cardio I sometimes wash my hair again, but I won't the following morning. If I've just done weights I like to use those Dove body refreshers, or I'll just do a quick rinse of my body in the shower.

I sometimes wish I could drag myself out of bed in the mornings and get my workouts complete before I start the day, but I'm no good in the early morning!

i shower every evening right before i get in bed. i cannot get into bed dirty!! but unless i do something like mow or get filty durring the day, i wait to shower until then

If I shampooed my hair even once every day I would have a head of straw! I have really dry hair and skin, and if I use too many soap products no amount of moisturizer will help the desert I turn into.

Yes I will wash my hair after every work out unless I am taking a post-work out shower later in the evening when basically the only place I have left to go is to bed! lol

I usually get my workouts in after work so I shower after that (closer to bed time). It makes it easier to just rinse up and get out of the house in the morning. :)

Shower, yes, shampoo, no. Shampooing that often would fry my hair. But I HAVE to shower.

On the "Ask Cathe" where this same question was asked, I posted the following trick that works well for me -- hope some of you might find it helpful!

Here's what I posted:

My (newly dark ;-)) hair is about shoulder length now and layered through the crown with bangs, too, and I've found another method for a quick fix-up that might work for you, too (or anybody else with a similar haircut). If I'm short on time after a workout and my hair's basically clean but damp (or wet underneath, which is usually the case with schweaty me!), this works pretty well to recreate a nice go-anywhere "do". My hair's not naturally curly like yours, Cathe, but I do have a lot of body and some wave in it, so it will "imprint" curlers pretty quickly. Here's what I do:

First I cover up my hair with a loose shower cap like the ones they give you in hotel rooms and take about a 3-minute quick-rinse shower so I'm not all yukky and stinky. Then I stick about 5 or 6 of those big velcro rollers in the bangs and crown, spritz them with Aveda Volumizing Tonic or Aveda Flax Seed & Aloe spray, and hit 'em with the blow dryer for a minute or two. I usually hold onto each roller as I point the dryer at it so that the rollers don't fly out! And by the way, the Aveda Flax Seed & Aloe is especially good for this because it dries more quickly than the Volumizing Tonic and REALLY imprints the roller shape onto the hair. Next, I grab my trusty medium-sized round brush and give the sides and lower back a quick touch up. Finally, I let the rollers sit for 5 more, while I spruce up (or put on!) my makeup, then take them carefully out and fluff fluff fluff!!! :) I can do the whole thing in between 10 and 15 minutes, depending on just how rushed I am.
