Do you save this stuff?

I am not a pack rat, and clutter drives me nuts! But there are some things I keep and put away for my kids. Like today's newspaper special election coverage section. Regardless of who your preferred candidate was and whether they won or lost, either way the outcome was historical. So I've tucked that little newspaper section into a box along with the 9/11 coverage stuff. Just wondering if I'm the only odd ball who does this kind of thing?

Lorrie..you're not the only odd ball. :D I save Time Magazine as well.

ETA: I also printed off Obama's Victory speech :) Does that make me more than an odd ball? :p

I don't personally - actually I throw things away maybe too much b/c I am a neat freak and grew up with a lot of clutter as a child, but my mother saved her stuff from Kennedy, Beatles, Elvis, etc and some of the stuff is really cool to look at years later. I say save it if you want to!

I've saved a few things over the years, but probably different from what most people save. I saved the comics page the day that most of the strips saluted Charles Schultz. I saved the front page from the Braves' "Worst to First" season way back when. Stuff like that.

When my kids were young I saved that kind of thing in the keepsake boxes I created for each of them. I figure someday when they're old - like me - they'd enjoy seeing events that occured in their lifetimes. My boys are grown now and moved out of the house and starting families of their own. They have their keepsake boxes in their possession so I guess it's up to them if they want to toss it or keep it for nostalgia sake. :)

Yeah? Well, you're not an oddball until you take those momentos and vacuum-seal them with your Food Saver bags! LOL

Nope...not me...I'll never admit it!

I've got big Rubbermaid tubs of things I have saved for the children. Gosh Gayle - I might have to try the Food Saver bags. It would save a lot of space! It is a pretty funny idea - but clever!!!!!

I saved the entire USAToday and local paper the day after the attack on 9/11.

Two months ago my son and I were cleaning out his elementary school stuff and came across it. The hair on the back of my neck went up. He discussed where he was and how the day was. He remembered me crying and his Dad getting weepy. He was in 1st grade then. I am glad I kept it and I would suggest doing it again today. Good luck finding a paper if you haven't already.

Im definitely a freak about that!!

I have a shoe box from every year in HS.. filled with mostly notes from my friends.. and the school play broshure, a lipstick or some hand lotion i wore that year.
Im extreeeeeemly sentimental (perhaps painfully so) and very sensate.. just the smell of somehting will bring back the most euphorious sense of nostalgia!

I also have small boxes filled with trademark items of mine form over the years.. just recently I decided to keep a purse I carried for 5 years. The strap is broken and there ar eholes in it hee (which is the only reaosn I had to get a new one).. but my mother was bugging me to buy a new purse for about two years.. finally when I moved from the south, back up north she said she'd but me anything I wanted-- just to get rid of my old one!
So I got this one.. but it also transitioned me into a new phase of my life (well.. it accompanied me anyways)..
I keep all sorts of thing slike that.

However, Im a neat freak too.. so all of these things are tightly packed away in the basement, neat, organized an dout of the way :)

Nah, your not an oddball! I am doing the same thing, 9/11 and today's news. It just really hit me, these are the 2 front page news articles I am saving, how different they are. One covering the most tragic day in our nation's history (IMHO), and another celebrating such a joyous occasion.
