Do you re-wash bagged salad and veggies?

I don't and we are still alive and well! Sandra Lee of the food network does not and that's good enough for me. Part of the problem is that for me, even with a salad spinner, the leaves are still damp when I eat them, and I like my greens dry and crisp.

I am however a STICKLER for freshness with those bags, so I paw through all the bags to get the one with the longest expiration date - if the bag expires sooner than 3 days from when I'm buying it I will not buy it. And if I find even one rotten leaf in a bag of lettuce I throw away the whole bag, it just grosses me out.

Me too! The ones I buy say "tripple washed" and that's good enough for me. I also dig through all the bags for the latest expiration date. I try not to make a mess of the display :D

I've been half and half leaning more towards washing...especially after the bad spinach episode (was that two years ago?). I really got better about consistently washing. But sometimes it's a convenience thing!:D

I always re-wash, especially after I read somewhere that you can get hepatitis from vegetables and fruits if someone handling them (pickers, packagers) had hepatitis. It only takes another few minutes to thoroughly wash the stuff, so I'm not about to take the risk of getting hepatitis or e.coli or some other disgusting thing! I wash pretty much everything with soap, warm water, and a brillo pad.
