I just did it for the first time, and it was a great great work out and fun too. She really explains her moves in that tape before and as she is doing them, cueing is amazing. Some of you might not like it because of the older outfits, but if the work out is great, then I am ready to sweat. I burned 565 calories and felt so good afterwards. I love her new step tapes too, but if you don't have this one I highly recommend it. I actually got the cardio hits dvd, so far I have tried to of the workouts, it has 3 step tapes and a 15 minute ab routine, so for 40.00 you get 3 great step tapes and a good ab work out.

For those of you who do have it what do you think of it?, would like to know how everyone else feels. ;) :7 Thanks Cathe you are the best!!!!.

I do have this tape and you are right, it is a great workout. I haven't used it in awhile because the Intensity, Body Blast, Slow & Heavy and Pure Strength series seem to have my attention...:)...I would use this one with my Nordic track....8 min of Powermax then 8 min of Nordic. I liked the variety and would go as long as I could...and Cathe IS the best...:)...Carole

I just did this tape this morning! This is one of my all time favorites of Cathe's! I love this workout!

I've been checking out her old step tapes too. Yesterday I did Step Fit for the first time I bought all of her old step workouts a year ago, then got sidetracked when the Intensity Series came out and I never attempted any of them! Power Max seems to be the favorite around here. As I recall, when I did it a couple weeks ago the third segment tripped me up. I'll have to try it again.

This was my first Cathe tape, back in 1996, and I still do it a few times a year. I can't bear to part with it yet. It is a fun workout and a moderately intense one. Cathe is so young!

Power Max was the first Cathe workout I ever tried. There was a lot of frustration, coming in from mostly Kathy Smith videos, which, after I mastered Cardio Hits, became L-A-M-E in comparison.

I still go back to this one when I tire with the newer workouts. It is such an inspiration to see how long it took Cathe to develop the body she has today.:)

I looooooooove Powermax. It is my fave Cathe cardio of all time. I have a grin on my face the whole way through. I come back to it again and again, and nothing in the intensities or BB series can take its place as far as I'm concerned. I love the music, the moves, the energy, fab. Bring on the Power L's, my favourite move of all time. I dunno why!!!

Thanks everyone, I am telling you I keep thinking of how fun the work out was and I was drenched too, that is a good thing.

When I hesard and ole favorite some of mine come on in the middle of power max I just smiled real big, remember the song WILD THING WOO----HOO, NOW WHO WOULD THINK A 47 YEAR OLD WOULD LIKE THAT MUSIC, well I do and I sure don't feel 47 I feel 20 something age is just a number that is all. I just cant wair to try all the step moves on cardio hits dvd. I am do glad I am not alone loving that tape. I wonder how the ab section for 15 minutes is?. It might sound kind of weird, but after finishing power max today, I figured out what Cathe is doing in some of her newer step tapes, like step blast and Rythmic step. And her older work out clothes don't bother me a bit, I just want to work out hard. cATHE IS CUTE NO MATTER THE STYLE OF HER CLOTHES, SHE IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE.

THANKS GUYS, I love posting on this thread everyone is so nice.

GOOD NIGHT ALL, I WILL CHECK BACK LATER!!!.:7 }(

SORRY FOR ALL THE BAD BAD SPELLINGIN THE POST ABOVE I WAS IN TO BIG OF A HURRY OR HALF A SLEEP, ANY WAY I LOVED THE WORK OUT AND THANKS FOR THE RESPONSES.

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE.

Debbie...don't worry about the typos. I'm guilty of it myself..:)...although I could go back and edit them. I think it's awesome you enjoyed this one so much, and sharing your excitement is just what this forum is all about...have a great day...:)...Carole

PowerMax was one of my firsts too. I return to it pretty often too on my all step days. Just curious, how do you know how many calories you burned? Is there some device that does this? How do you know how accurate it is? Or is it a guestimate based on how long you worked out?

I use a polar heart rate monitor the model A5 it gives me my total time worked out, my average hr and how long I was in my heart rate zone and the calories burned, it is great. I have worn heart rate monitors for years, just to let me know if I am working hard enough if not then I pick it up a notch if to hard then I slow it down a little. I think they are pretty accurate, I know a lot of people that use them. you should check out the polar websight they have so many to choose from. I just wanted the features I have, it is great.

Have a good day everyone.

Power Max was the only one of her older workouts that I never bought. When I traded all my VHS to buy DVDs I got rid of Step Heat and Step Fit. I recently bought the Classics DVD and after reading your post I did Power Max for the first time. It was really really fun! I, too, always enjoy the older music. I was drenched with sweat and I think part of the reason is because the moves are not so hard coreographic-wise that you can really give it your all intensity wise. I love all of Cathe's stuff! Thanks for your post because it made me excited to try Power Max, and I was not dissapointed at all!!

Oh Power Max, it was my first Cathe experience. I remember hardly being able to make it through the first step portion. And the choreography just baffled me! I had never done anything like it in my life! Once I got the whole thing down I loved it. I did probably 2 times a week for almost 2 years. Yes, now unfortunately I'm a bit tired of it. But I will eventually go back, I'm sure of that. right now as well as the others BB, IMAX2 have my full attention, oh and Rhythmic Step.

My all-time favorite. I do it several times a week. The only thing that makes me nuts is all the "whoop!" and "woo-hoo!" -ing, and Rhonda going "ooh, ahh" like a fish every fifteen seconds! It's a fabulous workout but I do wish they'd retape it because those two things made me nuts!

isn't that funny! i'm hardly conscious of any whooping at all, and as for Rhonda's sounding like a fish, I simply haven't a clue!!!

Clare

For the first year or two, I didn't notice the whooping either - and then suddenly one day I did, and now I can't ignore it! As for Rhonda - she doesn't *sound like a fish. It's just something she does, silently: ooh, ahh. Ooooh, ahhhh. It's in all the videos but for some reason I notice it more in this one.

Still, the workout is fabulous, and I love the choreography on sections II and III. It's a definite classic.
