Do you grab Kleenex between moves too???

I don't have to have Kleenex handy if I workout inside, but if I ride my bicycle and the temp is below 60 degrees or so, I might as well just tie one around my head and under my nose. Yuck.

As for those other leaks--yup, that too. Very frustrating. I go to the bathroom right before I workout and several times during, as well as wearing a pantiliner. It started with my first and only pregnancy. I tried kegels, but I don't think I was consistent enough for it to help.

Try doing a nasal irrigation (rinsing with saline--salt water) about 1/2 hour before working out. It can help clear out what's in there to reduce the amount! When I get a cold, I can go through a box of kleenex in a day or less (unless I stuff kleenex up my nose and keep it there--not something you'd want to do in public). When I remember to do a nasal irrigation (there are kits available at the drug store, or neti pots--like small tea pots---from places like www.gaiam.com ) or "snort salt water" (it just what it sounds like: a home-made version of a nasal irrigation) I have much less "drippage."

I have the same problem too and I always tuck a tissue in my workout shorts too.

I have one question for you gals... are most of you nose blowers in your 30's or older? I am 40 and have noticed it a lot more in the last 5 years or so. I played tennis with my mom and her friends the other day (all 75ish) and they all blew their noses all the time and had tissues tucked away. I sorta wondered if it is mildly age related?

What do you think?

i don't... not when doing my indoor workouts.. however when i'm out on my bike.. my nose drips like a leaky faucet.. i keep a kleenex partially tucked in my gloves to use so i don't have to use my sleeves!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

this is hilarious, i was actually thinking about posting a similar question. it's so nice to now i'm not alone in this. i only wish i could blame allergies. for me, my nose just starts to run no matter what! and yeah, good workout is typically a 12+ tissue count!

Nancy,

I'm not sure about the age thing except to say that my mother (who will be 60 this year...I'm 37) never had a problem with allergies her whole life until right now. This is not unusual, according to my allergist. You may lose, add or maintain allergic symptoms at any time in your life. So maybe you're getting allergies??? (I know this is gross, but I've been told that if the snot is clear, that it's allergies. Only when you've got a sinus infection or a cold does your snot turn colors...eeeewww gross!!!!! Sorry!!!!!)

I guess my only wish is that Cathe might give us small breaks for hydration AND noseblowing...you know, just to kind of acknowledge all of us runny noses out here! ("Two knee repeater...BLOW...now to the other side...!") Working noseblows into her choreography is maximum tough!!! ;-)

Cardio just makes me gag..PERIOD! I swear I just cough up so much phlegm at times...sorry, if I grossed anyone out. Same happens if I run.

So glad to see this post. I was going to post the same question. :)

My body flushes & purges when I do cardio. I always have a box of Kleenex nearby and I go through several. I couldn't tuck a tissue in my waistband because I sweat too much. Also, and this is really gross, but I find I usually need to spit "gunk" out, too, besides blowing my nose.

Yikes.

I was just thinking that today as I was blowing my nose about every 10 minutes!! I don't have allergies, but my nose runs like crazy when I work out, especially cardio. My workout room is also my husband's work shop, so I fill his garbage up with snotty tissues and that just grosses him out!!

I just have to add on to what I said in a previous post - I tuck a kleenex in the band of my workout pants - but I wear a lightweight shirt that I tuck in - so no sweat or snot gets on me - that way the kleenex stays drier longer - does that make sense?

I grab my kleenex before I even turn the TV on - I keep a box next to the TV - to be quite honest - I couldn't workout without one!
