Do you ever over work your abs where they hurt?......

and cramp like hunger pains or menstral cramps? I did this last week and they hurt like crazy for that evening after I had inadvertently done abs for 3 days in a row. I did abs again today they are killing me again.;( My dh was very surprised when he put his hand vertically (fingertips) up my midline of the belly buttom and could feel very strong ab muscles on either side. He said like WOW feel this, you have six pack under there,LOL!! I felt them and they were very definitely there and hard. But I wonder now if I need to give them a break, because they are hurting and not a good hurt as Cathe would say. :)

Thanks:)

Hi Annette, congratulations on that six-pack.:) I would definitely rest them if they hurt in a bad way. I tend to do abs about 4 times a week, doing 2-3 segments from Ab Hits each time. One day I'd do a workout that's heavy on plank work, another day I'd do one that's heavy on good old floorwork. When I really want to kill myself, I do all 3 ab workouts from the Intensity series.}( But I do rest my abs. I can't bear to do them every day!:)

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi, Annette, I do my abs every other day like any other body part and never work them daily. I know I have a six pack under my ab flab. The recent yoga has greatly increased my ab and low back strength. I was so sore after doing the bycycles during SupersetsSaturday morning followed by a low back care yoga class and a basics class that the sub thought was a 1-2 that I could barely breath by Monday and I was incredibly sore. It took three days to recover and I thought I was well conditioned. Listeh to your body and rest as manydays as you need. I am happy if I get two full days per body part including abs. I prefer three though!

I train abs daily, but separate them out. I.e. – I do upper abs on day 1 (normal crunch with feet elevated). Lower abs on day 2 (reverse crunch) day 3 is obliques (crunch to the sides) day 4 might be rest and then I repeat. I time myself and do as many as I can in 3 minutes. That’s it. I know that the ab muscles is really a long muscle, but splitting them up for me works well. Hope this helps. If I don’t train my abs I just don’t feel like I’ve worked out.

What an awesome idea! It's so basic. I wish I had thought of doing that earlier. Every other part of your body is split up, why not your abs? I'm stealing your suggestion Wayne... Thanks
