Do workout clothes make your wkout better?

I've noticed that when I'm wearing cute workout clothes I'm likely to get a better wk/out. Does anyone else feel this way or am I crazy? I just hate to wear ugly clothes when I wk/out. My DH thinks it's sorta "diva like" of me but I can't help it. I love cute wk/out clothes!!!

I'm not willing to spend a lot of money on w/o clothes, but then, I just w/o at home. I might feel differently if I went to the gym. I wear w/o bottoms and a sports top but they're old and ratty. I need to wear clothes that breathe and wick the moisture away or I just suffocate.

If I wear sweats or crappy shorts, the "mood" isn't there...I just feel like a slouch...Think I've got different workout outfits for every day of the week...DH tried pull the same thing on me until I asked how much he spends in a month on fishing lures that could be gone on the first cast!

I don't know if they have to be cute...but fitting right is what I'm finding to be difficult. I have a stack of old cotton shirts that are WAY too big to wear outside. The only problem is they are so long that they get in the way sometimes when I'm stepping. Plus I feel drenched after a few minutes so I end up taking them off (i w/o in my basement). I'm slowly upgrading shirts and shorts when I find them for a good price...

I think I've purchased most of my stuff at Target on clearance...Won't spend more than $25 or $30 on a workout outfit...That includes socks...

MJ

I'm really picky about socks. I will only wear the seamless kind. I can't deal with that seam that runs along the top of my toes. I buy "Feetures" brand socks and I love them! They're about 7 or 8 dollars a pair but you get a break in the cost if you buy 3 or more pairs.

Yes, I also like to wear cute workouts clothes and I have 2 drawers full. I think I own more workouts clothes than casual wear. I love them.

And this is the strange part, I notice on many occasions that I seem to be wearing the same color as Cathe. Is this just coincidence?

I think there is a definite psychological boost to workout clothes. Not necessarily even "cute" clothes (sometimes I feel I can lift heavier when I'm dressed "tough!").

They definitely affect my workout.

Another one here for wearing cute clothes.

At one time it didn't matter to me, but NOW, it's all about cute clothes. Its gotten to the point where everything has to match--my bandana, socks, sneakers and even my underwear. My dh thinks I'm off the wall b/c I work out between 4:45 - 5:00 am and match my outfits. Maybe I need psychiatric help..........NOT. Pathetic I know, but it does make me feel better. Doing kickbox, I usually wear BLACK, all black, gloves and bandana :p.

I actually like to see the sweat on my body :p.

ok, i'm leaving now....bye :p

I don't care what I wear when I work out at home, but I like to look neat when I go to the gym. I can't exercise in sweats because I feel much too warm when I do.

Haydee,

I also love to match, and I used to do it all the time. Now I tend to wear a great deal of black workout wear.

i go for fit more then looks. i have about 20 different sports bras and most fit differently than others. depending on my workout that is how i pick those outs. if i am working out inside i wear typical atheltic shorts or drawstring pants(usually get them at wal-mart or target). if running i wear my expensie everlast bras with my carpis b/c they fit snug without being tight and are very comfortable. lately i have been going out in sweatshirts and it doesnt matter what the heck they look like b/c i want to look good in my street clothes. i am too sweaty to care what i look like working out.

That is hilarious, Haydee. At 5:00 in the morning, I would be lucky if I had matching shoes on.:7

I do like cute or tough workout outfits. I just got the new Nike catalog & have already made my shopping list. I'm eyeing some new workout pants in a gorgeous bright rose color. I salivate as I type.

When I'm at home I work out in my underwear. I don't care what the heck I look like..LOL! As long as I have a well-supporting dry sportsbra to wear .... I'm as happy as a clam:) (It is one of the true benefits of having a grown child out of the house...hehehe.)

PS. I do wear cute clothes to the gym or you know, the gossips around here would definitely talk. They may even get me thrown into jail for indecent exposure especially if I wore my thong underwear...hehehe;-)}(

I work out at home only so I'll wear anything really. I have a bunch of shorts and a bunch of sports bras. No "outfits" so to speak...just mix and match and I don't even care if I MATCH! :p

I'll tell ya what DOES affect my work out though...how my body feels/looks...If I am having a "fat" day then my work out doesn't feel as good as if I'm having a "thin" day. The better the bod itself looks, the better the w/o! ;)

I've had plenty of those days myself Wendy. I make sure I have loose-fitting workout clothes on at those times. Anything that doesn't cut into the fat or makes me feel lumpy is what I save for those days.

It matters for me just like how I wear certain work clothes (suits) that make me feel more confident when I'm presenting at a conference.

I pretty much have standard lycra shorts, etc., I wear when I workout but even if I'm just getting in a quick 15 minute walk on the treadmill I put on my regular workout clothes vs wearing sweats. I know its psychological but it works for me. I won't say I look especially cute, but I'm mentally charged for my workout! :)

Some of my favorites are Carushka, Nina Bucci and Square Fit. SO CUTE and such a great fit! :D
