Do Perfect Push-up Handles work on carpet?

Thanks for all the great info, everyone! I'm going to stop at Walgreens tomorrow to see if I can find the $20 version!

My local Walmart has that version (it's a portable version, where the handles can be detached from the rest of the unit).

What I like best about these is that I can tweak the angle at which I do push-ups so it feels best on my shoulder, while I'm doing the move.

They also work well for tricep dips (I've tried them off the slanted step, butt towards the high end, and they work best if you have them in a position where you are sitting on 1/2 of them).

If these are the ones that I see all over the stores, you can get them at Linens 'N' Things or Bed, Bath & Beyond and use their 20% off coupon. They sell for $20 at those stores also. I've been eyeing them but haven't paid too much attention to them. Maybe now I will and at $16 bucks, what a deal!:7

Thank you for responding. I am relieved to know I can set my hands flat if the handles become painful. Looks like I AM going to have to get these things. It would be a better invention, I think, if they ditched the handles and made the devices like two little mounds you could palm, instead, fitting the natural shape of one's hands. Don't you all think?

Thanks for mentioning that! I was going to try to get them at Walgreens, but BB&B is much closer to my house. I'll probably stop by there today!

I got these the other day ($40 from Target) and I haven't done many push-ups with them yet (saving them for 4DS HIS on Saturday) but I have played them a little. I noticed that while in some ways they make push-ups harder, in other ways it's easier. For instance I was able to move my body down much lower (on toes or knees--I generally start on my toes but quickly go to knees). I just love new toys like this. I also liked that, though they take up a little space, they're nice and lightweight so easy to put away.

I got the $20 version at Wal-Mart a few days ago and tried them. I love them! I have issues with my wrists and have been using the stationary pushup bars which helped some, but the Perfect Pushup works much better. I think that with the pushup bars (or dumbbells) it is difficult to find the exact placement that works for you and, as Kathryn mentioned, with the Perfect Pushup you can tweak the position while you are actually doing the exercise. Allowing that wrist movement during the exercise makes it much more comfortable and easier. I also like the large handles and padding on the PP. And it works fine on carpet.

I have these too ($40) version and am glad I got them. As others have stated, they make push-ups easier and harder. They allow a more comfortable natural position, which makes the push-up just a more comfortable motion. They allow a greater range of motion at the bottom of the movement. The turning allows a more natural movement, but definitely makes that move harder after the first few reps (but this is a good thing). I particularly like using them for triceps pushups (with your arms close to your body). I can't really do those (with or without the PPs), but I do find what I can do is much more comfortable, so someday I expect to by able to do them. Definitely worth the money.

So I ended up getting the $20 Push Up Pro (not the Perfect Push-Up handles, which are the $40 ones) while I was out running errands today. I'm actually excited about doing push-ups on Sunday. Wait -- did I just say that?!;-)

Someone suggested checking Linens N Things or Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I found mine at BB&B, and was able to use my 20% off coupon. Do you have one of those stores near you?:)

I checked "Bed Bath and Beyond", "Target", and "Walgeens"s and they didn't have the cheaper ones (which I'm assuming are the Pro push ups).

I've been checking over at amazon.com and I found a set of 2 of the "Pro Push Ups" for $19.49! So, everyone keep that option in mind.:)

I love that they take the pressure of of my rotator cuff. I'd used dumbells for wrist strain but these make pushups so much safer! But, yes, the push ups are much harder. x( x( x(

I see you found them but it was a different brand than the perfect push-ups. Are they basically the same?

If one has a hard time doing regular push-ups (like uh, yours truly:7 ), would these be helpful or would I be just as frustrated trying? :)

I bought mine at Walmart, and the instructions say after you attach the handles, that's it - they can't be detacted, so I would say they are not portable. At least mine aren't. I don't care, however, since I don't see that they would be a hassle to take on vacation.

Thanks for the Bed, Bath & Beyond tip! There's always such great information on this forum! I got mine for $16.00 today too ( $20 - %20 off cupon)!

I did a few test push ups and I felt like they were gentler on my shoulders. Has anyone else found this to be true? I'm not sure if it's just wishful thinking on my part..I have problems in my shoulders and want to find something that eases the strain.

Hi Dallys,

Where have you been? I just wanted to let you know that Perfect Pushup actually makes a $20 version with plastic handles instead of steel. I actually got both the Perfect Pushup and the Pushup Pro for Christmas and after trying both, kept the Perfect Pushup. It seemed to be better made, less wobble, and it had less drag (turned smoother).

Thanks Linda, I'm still here.:)

That's good to know. I'm going to check Wal-Mart in a few. I'm also looking at some on ebay. I'll get some one way or the other.;)
