Does anybody in this forum use a food scale..are they worth it? My husband likes to count calories but most of the time he guesses and I have a strong feeling he is miscalculating. He is a strong long distance runner but he is having the hardest time loosing weight and I suspect its his diet plus I don't think he really pushes himself. He has been running for a very long time that its just comes easy to him. I was thinking I would give him a food scale for fathers day or maybe a heart rate monitor that will let him know when he is not working out hard enough.

My husband runs too. He went by time and how fast he could run a mile. I told him he need to run longer to make a difference bc he wasn't burning all the calories he was taking in. I talked him into a hr monitor and that made a huge difference! He lost 30 pounds last year using the hrm and I changed our diet to mostly raw. He is much stronger and fitter and and does Cathe workouts! Yay!

I've been using a food scale for years, it really helps me know how much I'm eating. It's fast and easy to use, and particularly for calorie dense foods such as nuts, it's a good way to keep portion control in check.

I have used a heart rate monitor in the past but I didn't like the chest band, it felt constricting. This was years ago, the technology has probably advanced since then, I haven't looked into it. I know many people who swear by the HR monitors!

Many long distance runners find that they need to do higher intensity workouts for shorter times (90 min. or less) in order to increase their epoc and burn fat. I use a HRM and food scale. I wouldn't go without either when in fat burning mode. Here is why.

Oh my gosh that is so true. Whenever my husband is telling me how many calories he thinks his eating I always laugh at him and tell him that he is definitely miscalculating. What food scale do you use? I will definitely show this to my husband!! Thanks!

I've been using an old style one for years, and hubby just bought me a new digital one for my birthday last week.....I LOVE IT!!! I track my eating through My Fitness Pal, and this digital scale makes staying aware of what exactly I'm taking in so easy. :)
