Digi Camera for Road Trips

Hi -- Was wondering what digital camera you used and loved that took great pictures on Cathe's (or anyone else's) road trips? Am looking to buy one for a present. Thanks for any suggestions!

I didn't bring my digital camera at the roadtrip but I have the Nikon Coolpix 4300, which I enjoy a lot. It's a compact, point-and-shoot, 4.0 megapixel camera. It takes clear, rich photos and is very easy to use. My only beef with it is that the battery dies a little too soon and it takes a while to recharge, which is why I didn't take it on the roadtrip. Having said that, this might not be the one you'd pick.

Here's a link you might find helpful:

It has tips, tons of reviews and detailed comparison charts. (Do a very general comparison search by selecting "all types" and "all brands" in the pull-down menus. Hope this helps.

I also have the Nikon Coolpix and love it because it takes such clear pictures. Nikon is famous for their lenses. I solved the battery problem by buying two so I always have a back up. It takes me about an hour and a half to recharge. There are so many great digital cameras on the market these days and the prices have really come down. I paid almost $500 for my Nikon 4300 3 years ago and now a smiliar version of it can be had for $199!

Hi -- Thanks for deciding me. I was looking at the Nikon 4600 and BestBuy Online has it on sale for about $159. They also had a sale for $150 at Target but that went like lightening, although I have a rain check.

Thanks to you and to everyone here! Whenever I have a buying problem, I know I can always depend on all you great people on this forum and on the VF forum.
