Difficulty getting the step moves down....Anyone have a...

Recently, I received the four-package CD set with the Timesaver workout. That's the one I use most often; however, I'm having difficulty keeping up with the step portion, as Cathe moves quickly, and these step moves appear to be for those who have been doing it awhile. Is there a beginner CD you can recommend for getting the "step" piece down? I feel like such a clutz whenever that portion comes on. Thanks!:)

The "classics" DVD has three workouts that break down the moves a bit more, and help you get used to some of Cathe's choreography. The "Cardio Hits" DVD has a bit more complex workouts that have even more of it in.

The steps will get more familiar with practice. Keep watching and doing and rewinding if you have to. It took me a while to "get" Rythmic Step, but after learning it, I find it to be super fun!

Judy, thank you for your response. I appreciate the encouragement! I will rewind and keep trying.:)

Cathe has a new set of DVD's coming out that are more beginner/intermediate based. They will be easier to follow and hopefully will help people learn the moves so that they can have an easier time learning the more advanced routines. Feb 29th is the last day to preorder and get a discount.

Why don't you use the workout blender to help with the steps? You can repeat the parts as often as six times, that should help...

The first time I did Step Blast, I did the warm-up once, combo one twice, combo two three times, combo three once (which I then repeated twice more). That gave me a good workout and the practice I needed.

The workout blender is on the Body Blast DVDs. You'll find it on the main menu, click on it and then tell it what you want to have played. You can select six chapters from the same workout, so theoretically, you could play anything six times in the row without the hassle of going back to the mix and match menu.

Kat,
Hey, obviously I'm not Cathe (hehe) but I wanted to let you know I'd tried other step before and just felt like such a klutz and gotten so depressed about not being able to get "the moves". When I first found Cathe someone told me about "Step Heat" as a beginner step tape (for the moves). I bought it and eventually mastered it and fell in love with step. My next purchase was the Wedding Video. What a little gem! I've bought some Christi Taylor but have never made it through a whole tape. I have ALL of Cathe's step tapes/DVDs and do every bit of them. I also have her weight workouts too! Once I got "Step Heat" under my belt I was able to learn her other workouts. So, may I suggest as others have, the Classics DVD. Don't get discouraged, just keep on trying it. I also had to quit "thinking it through" so much and just go with the music and flow. I know I probably look like a dork, but I feel like a Swan here alone at my house doing step with Cathe!!
Lots of luck, and let us know how it goes!!

Hi there!

I had difficulty at first but found that if I played the DVD on 1/8 speed I could see what Cathe was actually doing and end up on the correct side of the step! It's difficult at first when you're doing it from a screen you often don't realise she's infront of the step instead of behind it (or vice versa)!

Well that's how I mastered the complex moves anyway. DVD is great for watching in extra slow motoin as it doesn't affect the playback quality. Everything still flows nicely.

Good luck!

Hi Kat,

Are you a professor? One of my online instructors' names last quarter was K. Simmons. If you prefer not to answer, that's totally okay! And if you are a completely different person, please ignore this lol!

Thank you everyone for all of your suggestions! No, I'm not an online instructor Gina. :)
