Difference between HSC and HSTA

For those of you who have both, can you tell me what the difference is between High Step Challenge and High Step Training - Advanced? I saw in another post that Jillybean's favorite is High Step Training - Advanced. I don't have that one, but I have High Step Challenge. Are they similar? I haven't had a change to preview it yet. Thanks,

Lynda

Yes, they are extremely similar. One can sub for the other. The music on the one you already have is way better than the dismal drone on the other so, you certainly don't need to get it. Some complain that HSC is easier than HSTA, but all you have to do to make it more difficult, should you feel the need, is jump higher, take no breaks, lift heavier.

Thanks, Clare! I already have so many workouts on my wish list. It's nice to know that I don't have to add another.

One thing I really disliked about HSTA is the way the music (mediocre at that) was used. When you go from a cardio move to a strength move, the music slows down, and you actually hear someone turning a dial to slow it down. Not at all the smooth transitions like in Boot Camp.

IMO, HSTA cardio is more intense. HSC is more strength intense with easier cardio sections. I personally prefer HSTA because my HR stays up a great deal and I burn more calories. The only thing I don't really like about HSTA is all the step ups.

Hey Guys! Does HSC have as many leg presses as HSTA? I like leg presses but to be honest HSTA has too many for my taste!

TIA,

Cheri

Ditto what Laura said. HSTA definetly gets your HR higher. The music isn't very good, but the whole workout is much better than HSC. Too much shoulder work in HSC and I have to add more cardio to break a sweat. Yes, there are alot of leg presses in HSTA, but it goes quick and keeps the HR up. I actually prefer the LP's over lunges and squats once in awhile. I like the weight work better in HSTA. Just my opinion.

No, HSC doesn't have as many leg presses as HSTA. I personally like HSC a little better than HSTA (although that one kicks @ss as well), but I like the exercises she does between the cardio sections in HSC better. They are hard and fun. JMO!

I for one am one still torn between these 2. I keep finding new questions that are helping in my decision though. Heres one.... I noticed all the plyo jumps, tuck jumps, etc, in the HSC preview on her website. Those are horrible for my back on this carpet! Does HSTA have those as well? If not I think I can make up my mind.

Thanks!

I perfer HSTA too. It is much more intense IMHO both from a cardio perspective and strength perspective. I think of HSC as an intermediate workout and HSTA as advanced.

There are many, many, MANY leg presses in HSTA! Too many, IMO, to be done in exactly the same way with exactly the same ROM. I change it up by varying each set: 14" with no added weight; 12" with a 10# weight; stepping off to the sides to hit the inner thigh area more; 10" or 12" with a knee up at the top.

Great idea! I never thought to mix the presses up like that. I especially like the side leg press and the knee lift. Will remember to add these in next time.
