Diet to Build Muscle

Sorry if this has been asked before but here it goes.

I wanted to change my diet some to help me build more muscle mass. I've been doing Cathe's Slow and Heavy series, Pyramid Upper and Lower and some of the others to complimente like Power Hour, Supersets, etc.

I have noticed a definite change in my arms legs, and overall body. But I know that if you want to have more muscle definition, you have to follow a certain diet for diet.

Can anyone recommned any?

My husband just ordered and received the P90X (Extreme Fitness by Beachbody, Fintess Advisor Steve Edwards) where they do this extreme exercises and they include a Fitness Diet plan. I don't really want to get into that right now so I can't do their fintess plan because it matches the exercises you are doing under their plan.

so, I want something more towards Cathe like exercises.

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

Thank you.

No diet is going to build muscle, working out builds muscle. Protein repairs your muscle that gets torn while you are working out (yes the burn you feel it actually small tears in the muscle), which is what builds the muscle. I would recommend a clean diet, lots of fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. Eat the foods that were put on this earth to nurish us, not the foods that we've created or modified to look better, such as white rice and white bread.

Good luck!

Protein protein protein! I eat a lot of meats, mostly poultry & tuna, some shellfish & the occasional steak, burger & chops.

Personally I stay away from rice & bread b/c they're high carb & won't help w/weight loss (although I do confess to splurging on the weekends). I also eat a ton of green veggies--green beans & asparagus are my favorites. :9 Also lots & lots of salads.

I noticed a big change in my muscles when I started eating more protein. I actually decreased my intake of complex carbs (by a little bit) and added more protein, mainly in the form of egg whites, fish and chicken. I lost 6.5 pounds and definitely leaned out a little more, especially in my core.

Thank you for all the replies.

I eat pretty clean... I've been doing the SouthBeach diet for over a year and love it because I have replaced all of the white carbs like white rice, white bread, white flour etc. with whole grain or whole wheat products. I probably need to eat more veggies though.

Protein I do eat but I wonder how much I should increase ...

Well, I will stay lean on those as well...

I eat poultry but I think I need to stay away from the dark chicken which I prefer to the breast...:p I eat also turkey lean ground instead of just turkey ground and also an occasional tenderloin beefs.

Again, thank you for all the suggestions! :)

You might also consider some non animal proteins for a variety of reasons, particularly if you need to get some more fiber in your diet (as many do).
