The duck and the grape joke from the funniest joke post was hilarious. Degrading remarks relating to someone’s opinion hardly hilarity. Yet, to each his own.

Beavs, love the Abbie Hoffman quote! A few years ago, DH got a license plate totally at random that had SDS as the first three letters. He was thrilled!

As for the original post, I wasn't against Hillary because I'm sexist; I was against her because she voted to go into a war that I'm totally against. But if she had been selected as the Democratic candidate, I'd have voted for her over McCain.

You're right--to each his own. Oops, that was completely sexist. Sorry. I meant to each HER own.....

We really are two weirdos aren't we Ms. Teresa?
<heads out of thread to nominate a pig for president>

ITA with Amy, HRC is as strong as it gets and she sure needs no one to defend her honor.

Now, I think that any serious candidate for president should be held to the same standard — man or woman. Obama is being hit because he looks different and because he has a not so common name ...... I haven't heard him whine about it.

In one of the debates HRC said: “I don't think they're piling on because I'm a woman. I think they're piling on because I'm winning." Only after she started losing, the victim card started to be played.

At one minute, she stresses that she is the strong woman ready to lead, go toe-to-toe with John McCain, the next, she's the woman under attack, playing the victim card.

I will never forget what my Grandmother said to me when I was 6 or 7, the only girl in the neighborhood where we lived. I was playing soccer with the boys, it got a little rough and I came home crying. She brushed the dirt off me and said "Well, honey, if you want to play with the boys at their game you need to play the game as it is played and not ask for special treatment because you are a girl." Now, this came from a woman who was born in 1918, it was as true then as it is now.

I am as much for EQUAL rights for EVERYONE as it gets, I have spent the majority of my career in positions that have been dominated by men and I still come across some knucklehead sexist remarks. So what, I can't change what they say, the only thing I have control over is how I react. As my Granny said you want to play with the boys, play their game, beat them at their game and don't start complaining when it gets rough.

Beavs, I love the Abby Hoffman quote too. And Teresa I also love the L. Cohen quote. When I was a kid my sister stole a copy of "Steal this Book". And to whoever said they had a FSM sticker on their car in a post a few weeks ago, I have an FSM t-shirt!

Anyway as to the original post during my step workout I realized what bugged me so much about it. All the sexist remarks were made, this is true. The lie in the article is the TITLE. Who ever claimed that the campaign was 100% sexist free? No one. Just this right wing blogger. It implies that the dems somehow deny that sexism exists. It's the usual tactics. Feed some shaky info about WMDs to Judy Miller of the NY Times then when she puts it in an article the same people that fed her the false info go on the Sunday talk shows and say "See, It's got to be true. It's in the NY Times!"

I voted for Hillary in the primary and will vote for Obama for president. Neither were my first choice.

Thank you Beavs! *yells loudly* "Pig for president, pig for president!"

Or maybe, "Tosca for president, Tosca for president!"}(

ITA w/ Lauramax!

Hillary WAS treated unfairly by mainstream media. SNL got it right. Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews are prime examples. Which candidate was said to "look like a scolding mother" or "your ex-wife outside probate court"? Did anyone of the esteemed media elite discuss John McCain's obnoxious laugh, Bill Richardson's wide hips or perhaps Mike Huckabee's thick ankles? Have you ever seen an unflattering picture of Barack Obama on a mainstream media website? You'll find dozens of Hillary (eyes wide, mouth open, or my favorite, a shot from the ground up intended to emphasize her hips). Let's not forget that the only reason women voted for Hillary in the primary is a) they're menopausal; b) they're racist; or c) they're stupid ("uneducated" being the usual term). Well, this college graduate with a masters degree who is neither menopausal nor racist will not forget how the Democratic and media establishment buried Hillary in favor of the annointed Messiah. Yes, I'll vote for Obama in the GE, but only because Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens is 88 years old.

If you think that sexism is dead, why do women earn 70% of what men do for similar jobs? Think about that if you want to wipe your butt on the original post.

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

As I stated, a friend sent this to me. I didn't bother to ask her where it came from since I didn't think the source is important. After all, this is not an advancement of some conspiracy theory. I suppose though agreeing (or not) that Hillary was the victim of sexism during her bid for the nomination is a matter of opinion. If there is some other way to interpret the statements made though I have not heard them. I can't say that sexism is the reason that Hillary was not successful but I don't think that it should be brushed aside and deemed untrue simply because you prefer Obama (or McCain).

My friend has verified that it did indeed originate from National Review Online but, again, that makes no difference and using the source as a means to discredit the argument is the straw man fallacy that I previously mentioned.

Quote HRC

"....... that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me"

Be careful or you will be accused of "sour grapes," "whining," or even worse, not listening to Carola's granny, who, by the way was born at the height of the suffragist movement. Women didn't have the right to vote until 1920 (19th amendment).

And your point??? By the way, Sweden granted women the right to vote in 1862 and Germany 1918. I had a Swedish and a German grandmother.

Sometimes it is beneficial to double check your sources or minor details before making comments. I happen to think that bothering to check your sources is pretty important.

LMAO! Girl, you are funny!

Did you know that women in NJ had the right to vote from 1781-1789? The state took it away from them when some brilliant advance men started transporting cartloads of women from town to town to vote illegally in local elections.

<sigh> Some things never change. Politics is a dirty business. It doesn't matter what gender you are, what color you are, what religion you are, what income bracket you're in, what college you went to or what your GPA was, whether you're a lawyer, a doctor or a farmer--if you don't play the game you're destined to fail.

(please note this is a generalized post & not an accusation or description of any single candidate's tactics :p )

Touché

Personally I think that in some ways Clinton had sexism working for her benefit and Obama had racism working for his.

I don't think Hillary lost the primary because of sexism. I live in NY and she is my senator. I fall into that group that is supposed to be hardcore Hillary supporter--white, older, educated with a postgraduate degree, owner of my own business. But I could not support Hillary. Her vote for the Iraq war sealed it for me. She didn't know with the intelligence avaible to her at the time? Well how come I knew? I always felt that was an opportunistic vote to show how tough she was and ready to be commander in chief. Plus I have really had enough of the Bush Clinton Bush families. I would have been so excited to support a woman of my own generation but I am afraid Hillary was not the one for me.
