DebbieH!!

Hi Tess. Just hi-jacking your thread for a minute..;) !

It's like a whole new world doing squats, huh?! It was worth the $$ for the squat rack alone!

ENJOY!!!

Yes, it is!! I did 62 lbs this morning and it felt great. I can only lift about 45 over my head so that's the most I've been doing. It will be good to gradually get stronger with these. Yay!!

Hey Melissa, I have another question for you. Do you do bench press on this? Where do you put the bar for that? It seems like the top hooks would be too far too reach up if you had the bench flat. It looks like it would be fine at an incline, but flat just seems like it wouldn't work. It also seems like the safety hooks would get in the way for presses.

No, my shoes were hurting me so bad, I couldn't imagine walking around Dick's in them! ;) I am wearing 1" heels today!

LOL. Good luck!! I ended up getting a 6' bar that had the olympic width but I am taking it back today and getting the 7' because I think the ends are too short. I was afraid the 7 wouldn't fit in my car but now that I know the 6 fits fine I'll just get the longer one.

Hi Tess. Way to go on squatting 62lbs!

I do a flat bench press using the safety hooks on the front that you can adjust. I usually have to re-position the bench a couple of times so that the hooks don't get in the way. But I wonder if you lower the squat rack hooks as low as they can go if that would work for flat bench presses? I'll have to try that this week.

I really have to get a 7' bar this week.

Liann, I hope your bench comes in soon!

Thanks Melissa. I was thinking I would have to use the safety hooks for flat bench press.

Liann, the 7' bar is $40 and I'm getting it from a place called Fitness Resource. The ends are smooth so you can use spring clips.

Tess - I just went by the Wal-mart near my office and saw the bench. It is so much bigger than I was picturing!!! My DH is going to kill me! ;) He already complains about all my workout stuff taking over the family room. This bench will take up the whole family room! I don't know why I was picturing it smaller. I did run over to Dick's afterwards, but they didn't have a single 7' barbell! I did buy a pad for my current and future barbell though while I was over there (and a cute Adidas top that was on sale - don't tell DH). :)

I use mine at the lowest setting for flat bench press and it works fine. I can not use the saftey hooks at all for the bench the lowest setting is too low and the next one up is too high. So if I can not push the wt back up then I yell for DH to come help . I've only had to do that once. I make sure he is home when I am doing heavy training. Since I've gotten this I've worked my squat up to 105# and my bench up to 90#!!! I am quite happy with that. Oh, and it has taken me a few times to get my bench positioned exactly right to do the bench press.

You guys are killing me! I have so much equipment down there now that DH just won't understand! I'm even paying for itmyself and he still doesn't understand! Just rolls his eyes! Not only that, NOW I NEED a 7' BAR!!! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!!! The way I look at it...it keeps me out of the doctor's office. That's a good excuse why I NEED it, right? Anyone here that can convince my DH I need it?

Hahahahaha!! Debbie, the way I approach these things is, I just go ahead and get stuff without mentioning it. I figure DH has enough on his mind -- he doesn't need to concern himself with my pursuits :p . I have a strict DON'T TELL, DON'T ASK policy :p . Now, If only I had room for a squat rack :D

Debbie your graphics crack me up. Well let's put it this way, DH was resistant to this as well, and I was spending my own money too. Well I did convince him that I was I deserved it, but it took a little extra "convincing" if ya know what I mean. *wink* *wink*
