LOL! Honestly Debbie, my DH will kill me when he sees the size of this thing. It is wonderful though - very sturdy and heavy. I actually think once he uses it, he will love it. I have sooo much exercise stuff in the family room though! 3 steps (small one, high step, & club step), 2 separate stability balls, 2 medicine balls, a recumbent bike, 2 barbells (5',6' and soon to be 7'), 2 exercise mats, perfect push-up bars, a ton of dumbbells, bands, jump rope, yoga blocks, straps, zafu cushion, over 70 workouts, the list goes on and on.... And I still want a pull up bar, treadmill and MORE dumbbells.... STOP THE INSANITY!!! Oh, and I'll probably end up with those foot glidy things since I doubt I will want to use paper plates. :p

The next thing I'm getting is either paceweights or platemates. Haven't made up my mind on those yet. But I'm definitely going to wait until closer to STS ships so DH forgets my spending frenzy for awhile. Hmmm, maybe I'll ask for them from my mom for my birthday...

I gotta tell you guys though, your DH's will probably like this bench a lot too. Mine was in there using it this morning to work his glamour muscles! :p

OH - PS, Debbie, you asked me yesterday about the weight of the 7' bar. It weights 18 lbs.

Catherine!

I think I have you beat. I have FOUR! Unfortunately, the longest is only 6' long. (I held my dynaband up to it and it measured exactly the same, plus it weighs 45 #'s on it's own, no plates.) Now, if I IGNORE my DH and get it on my own, can I put it together on my own??? Ha!

Liann!

Don't even get me started on what I have in my workout room. I'd be here til midnight listing it all...I even have a treadmill, 2 spin bikes and a stairmaster! (And an elliptical out in our garage we borrowed from my DD while she was pregnant.) I would not be able to workout in my family room, no way! Thankfully, I am blessed with a HUGE basement so IMO space is not an issue, unless you take into consideration DH wants to make a family room/bedroom/bathroom down there too! :7 Who needs a bathroom when there are other important things in life? We could always build one of these...

I am a workout gadget/equipment junkie...No willpower when it comes to fun new stuff! (I have the footie-glidies things too! :7)

Thanks Tess!

I love my platemates. YES, I have those too! Ha!

18# for a 7' BB sounds great...much better then starting out with one at 45#'s!

You guys have me all psyched up again!

RE: Liann!

I have platemates and now I want pace weights :+ Does it ever end?

BTW, I asked my DH several times about the bench/squat rack and he said no. So finally, I stopped asking and just said that I was getting it. Oh, and yes, he did put it together for me ;)

The trials and tribulations to being fit and healthy :7

I like your style! No I guess it never does end, does it? Thanks for your input on the flat bench press too. I am going to try it when I get home. :)

RE: Liann!

You guys are too funny!

I didn't even ask DH for permission to buy the bench. I just bought it, then told him about it. He picked it up and put it together for me without any complaints.

I think he was just happy that he didn't have to be my "human squat rack" anymore!!

Okay, now did someone mention platemates?!?!?! I need some!:+

LIANN - your family room must be HUGE! I just read your list of stuff...WOW!!! I just saw those gliding disc things at Target the other night and was thisclose to buying them.

RE: Melissa!

Debbie - your the BEST!!! I really do need them, too. 15lbs are getting too easy on biceps but I can't quite squeak up to 20lbs. That's justified, right?

I cave so easily...

RE: Melissa!

LOL - I'm starting to feel enabled Debbie!! That is the cheapest I've seen them. My local fitness place had them for $30 /pair.

I wonder if the Hex ones would work on my 7 foot barbell that I just bought? I have rubber encased plates, so I know the round one that sticks to the plate will not work unless maybe it will stay on with the clip?

Liann...

Are the rubber plates the same as the Troy Lite rubber plates? If so, they will stick. Mine attach a lil' crooked since the plates are not completely flat, but they work. I would be careful with them attached for O-H moves.

RE: Melissa!

I think we're all being enabled. Who knew spending each other's money would be this much fun! }(

Liann, did you get that barbell from ebay?

RE: Liann!

Melissa - It was a huge family room, but now it is getting crowded! It is broke into two sections, one has a couch and chair in front of the fire place (which is a corner stone fireplace). The other section has an entertainment center with a couch and a large chair/couch thingie. I have my recumbent bike on the side of the couch facing the tv and then all my videos etc.. are in these storage cubes to the left of the tv. My steps and other assorted stuff is shoved in the corner to the right of the entertainment center. As of now, I have NO idea where I am going to put the new bench press... Behind the couch would have worked, but there is a piano there and not enough room between the two. The area between the couch and tv is where I actually work out. My only other option is to clear all the junk in the corner out (barbells, dumbbells, etc..) and try to squish it in there. Seeing the size of it today though, I doubt that will work. I think I am going to have to sell some furniture! DH and I have been talking about turning the basement into my workout room, so we may have to do that sooner than later!
