Good Morning Girls :)

Today I did the treadmill workout: fat burner, for 45 min. It was great!!! I would love to do the treadmill once a week, I may have to look at the rotation to see if I could fit it in!

I got a Ford Focus as the rental car for the week. Its very small (I drive a Highlander) but fun, and it has a sunroof! We are going to try to get to the pool today, I hope the weather holds out!

I hope you all had a great workout today!!

BBL,

Hey,

I wasn't able to w/o this morning (sinus problems - rats!) so I'm going to do it after work - it'll be KM Low impact for me :)

CC

PS...I responded late last night for yesterdays. It went well and I did get up early. One thing I forgot to mention is that I had problems with the push-ups. I always do. Currently, I'm horrible with them. I barely made it through the first set and the second was just...not good.

Good Morning Ladies!

Today I did Step Blast and that is always a fun one for me!:) HRM said I burned 333 calories. My HR stayed in the zone the entire time, except for the Blasts.
I am going to work on my "summer fun" stuff today up at the school. I teach next week M-F 9-2.

Deanie--Glad that you like your new treadmill. Are you using your new ipod with it? Hope you have nice weather today so you can go to the pool and have your sunroof open!

Cheryl--Sorry about your sinus problems. Hope you feel well enough tonight to do KM. The other ladies here know how much trouble I had with push ups. When we all did the faux p90x rotation, it really helped me. I also started out with negative push ups and that helped. Go down on your toes and back up on your knees. Do as many as you can that way and then go down on you knees and back up on your toes. Try doing this 2-3 times a week and see if that helps.

Marcy--My brother also has a corgi, but she is very unpredictable. She will bite and snap at anyone she doesn't know...scary! My corgi is a sweety. She loves everyone, but can be a little bossy. I guess she was bred to herd cattle!!;-)

Tracee--Did you do Step Blast also?

Have a great day!
Gin:)

Good Morning Ladies!

Today I did Tracey Staehle's Step Sweatfest and C&W Abs. I really liked Step Sweatfest. The choreography was fun, music ok, cueing could have been a little better. There is no breakdown. I didn't preview this one so at first I wished there was a little bit of a breakdown but I got about 95% of it the first time through. There are two sections, one which I think she says is a little more athletic and the second one a little more complex. The second section had a move called the "whirlybird" which was almost (if not the same as) like a move in Rob Glick's Amazing Step Styles. I only had a hard time when my back was away from the camera so I'll try and preview a few moves the next time around. The only thing I didn't like was that these were broken up into two separate workouts each having the same warmup and cooldown. The next time I'll skip the 1st cooldown and the 2nd warmup but the only bad part is you have to go back to the DVD menu instead of just fast forwarding but I guess it'll take just as long either way. After doing this, I really see how high Cathe's production values really are. My heartrate stayed up the whole time in this workout. Burned 429 calories (about the same as Step Blast). C&W abs were not hard for me like they used to be. It's been a long time since I did these. A couple of the oblique moves were the same as Ab Ripper X which made C&W abs much easier for me this time around.

My pecs are really sore this morning from yesterday's workout and my core is just a little sore. Cathe still gives me a great workout.

Gin - Glad you had a blast doing Step Blast. My heart rate goes up during the blasts as well. At least you had a vacation before you start working again.

Deanie - Today's a perfect pool day. Is is 95 degrees by you like it is here? Yesterday wasn't too bad but today it's real steamy out there. Glad you're liking your treadmill. Are you still using your ipod with it?

Cheryl - Glad you had a great workout. I agree with Gin's suggestion about the pushups. The more you do them, the easier they become. I did hundreds of pushups with P90X (have you done the X yet?) and I got so much stronger. Working out in the a.m. is much better if you can manage it. You will get up to Cathe's weights. It may take a little time, but you will. I find it hardest to match her with Chest & Biceps but I outdo her on Shoulders, Tris and Back although yesterday I went a pound heavier than her on bis as well. As far as what other series to get, I would possibly get Slow & Heavy (don't know if you like pure strength workouts, but this one worked real well for me). You might want to wait if you ordered the new workouts though. As far as your next cardio purchase, I would get the Rhythmic Step DVD which has both dancy and athletic on it. Rhythmic Step is my favorite of Cathe's step and the most dancy. Interval Max is an interval workout which is a little below or about equal the intensity of IMAX 3 but with athletic choreography and Maximum Intensity Cardio is an intense hi-lo workout and athletic step done on 8". The outfits are a bit dated but in MIC and IMAX but if you can stand it, they're great workouts. I also love dancing. I line dance once a week for 3 hours and I love it. We do everything from swing to rumba, waltz, cha cha, two-step, etc.

Tracee - Hope you have a great workout.

Marcy

Hi ladies.

Today I did the upper body workout that I missed yesterday. I guess I'll just be a day behind you guys this week. Tomorrow is supposed to be KM but I don't have that one so I'm not sure if I'll do KPC or just a regular step workout. I guess I'll decide in the morning.

Deanie - you make the treadmill sound so fun. I don't have the space or the money for one of those but you make me laugh every time you talk about yours. Hope you had fun at the pool. It's another hot and steamy day here but we're supposed to get some relief tonight and it's going to be just about perfect the rest of the week.

Gin - Have fun with your school planning. Is it hard to go back to school in July after having a few weeks off? I don't think they have that option in the schools around me.

Marcy - It sounds like you had a great workout again today. Thanks for keeping us all motivated and striving to keep up with you.

Cheryl - Something always seems to come up in my life to get me off track from my morning workouts too but I'm determined not to get so off track that I quit completely like I've done in the past. Pushups are a dreaded exercise for me too although the stronger my core and chest became with other workouts the easier pushups were for me. Gin gave you some good advice and the only thing I can add is to just keep doing them. Each time try to do one more than the last time.

Have a good day everyone.

Tracee

Hi again!

Just a tip for everyone re pushups:

Make sure you squeeze your glutes and tighten up your core. It makes them easier.

Tracee - Glad you got your workout in. I'm glad I can keep you motivated.

Cheryl - As Tracee said and I agree, try doing just one more each time. I did this with the X and had great results.

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Marcy--Glad that you enjoyed Step Sweatfest. C&W abs are my favorites, but that music gets stuck in my head for the rest of the day!! Intersting advise on push ups....squeeze, huh? I'll have to try that. I don't think this new HRM is working so well. Sometimes I will glance at it and it will register "00" in the middle of a workout. You burned 429 with SB and I burned 333? You are much smaller and fitter than I am, so doesn't that seem off to you?

Tracee--I thought that tomorrow was L&G. Are you looking at the next week? I am not started back to school until the last week of August. This is just a 1 week summer day camp-type thing that I am teaching. Not quite ready to go back yet!:p

Deanie--Hope you were able to go to the pool today.

Cheryl--I guess I missed your intro. Are you married? Kids? Etc?:)

Gin

Gin - I think part of the reason you may have burned less is that you mentioned you have a lower resting heart rate than me. Mine is 55 where I thought you said yours was in the 40-something range. It might take you longer to get in your target heart rate zone. For instance, my resting heartrate went down by 10 after the X and I noticed at the end of my X workouts, it took me longer to get in the zone. I guess you're just a very fit chick!:p

Marcy

Good Afternoon!

We ended up at the pool for only a short time, then the thunderstarted. So we went to Ritas and had ice cream (the kids not me) Sometimes I get the kids size water ice, but they didn't have a flavor I liked today.

Marcy~ Do you have any dvds you don't like?:) you make them all sound so good!

Tracee~ One day behind is good. I'm sure you'll be fine subbing KPC tomorrow. I am enjoying the treadmill, more than I thought I would. I thought I would just "power walk" on it.

Gin~ L&G is on for tomorrow. I am looking forward to it. I am thinking about doing the leg press with the band instead of the weight~ we'll see what I feel like tomorrow. And yes, I am using my ipod and loving it!!! How was set up today for school?

Deanie

Hi Again!

Deanie - I have the Cross Trainer Firms which I didn't care for and am still trying to get rid of. Also, an old Jane Fonda Step & Abs workout. All of the ones I've gotten recently I've been happy with. I really research the ones I buy very well to make sure I'll like them. Oh, one more - Jari Love's Slim & Lean. I didn't think I'd care for it when I bought it but it was so cheap from DDD, I had to give it a try. Also, I have Melissa Lowe's first Ballet Workout which I never opened. I tried her other ones first and since the first one is the easiest, I didn't want to bother with it so I'm hoping to trade it. I'm looking forward to L&G tomorrow, too. It's one of my favorite leg workouts. It moves so quickly for me. I have to admire you for holding off on the ice cream! That's my downfall. I just can't resist ice cream. Cookie, yes, pie, yes, but not ice cream.

Gin - One other thing. I also do mostly all of my step (with the exception of IMAX 3) on 8" unless I'm learning something new (like today's workout I did on 6" so I wouldn't trip myself which I almost did!). That really bumps up the intensity and calories burned.

Marcy

Marcy~ It is easy for me to resist ice cream, I don't like it. Actually, I can resist almost any dessert. But a cookie, any kind but mostly choc. chip homemade, and I have a VERY hard time stopping!! I literally have to move them off the table! LOL When the kids were younger we did a lot of baking choc. chip cookies at home, and we'd end up with maybe 14-15 cookies!! we love the dough!!!:) :)
I'm also impressed about the 8" step. I always follow Cathe: if she uses 6" so do I, if she uses 8" then I do. I was thinking of doing Imax 2 with an 8" though. It does really bump up the intensity! I just haven't been brave enough! I have Mellisa Lowes 1st ballet workout. I like it. I haven't done it in a realllllly long time though.
