Good Morning Ladies!

Today I did IMAX 2 and ab hits # 12. IMAX1 was on the schedule, but I decided I wanted to do 2 instead and I did the wrong ab hits, but oh well. My new HRM said I burned 277 calories?? I'm sure it was more than that. Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July. I fell asleep watching a movie at 8:30 last night. How sad is my life??:-( DH had gone to the office to get some work done before we leave and I slept right through all of the fireworks and everything!!

Good morning Gin and everyone.

Gin - your life sounds as exciting as mine. I didn't go to see any fireworks either but that's because I hate crowds. We stay home and my dh lights of little ones in the road. The kids love it but I stay inside and watch tv.

I've gone off the schedule again and did Core Synergistics today. I have missed Tony and felt like I needed to hear his voice again. I was glad I chose this one. I'm not sure I'm going to follow any of Cathe's schedule this week. I think my next strength workout will be one of the PS ones. I'm just not excited about doing S&H right now and I don't have any of the cardio workouts that Cathe has on the schedule this week. Oh well, I don't mind doing my own thing.

Hope everyone had a good 4th. I'm back at work and it's really quiet here today. Seems like everyone took today and tomorrow off.

Good Morning All

It was storming here so no fireworks for us. My DH and I rented THank you for Smoking and watched that last night!

Today I did S&H bicep, tricep,and added shoulders. I again went as heavy as I could because next month we are doing more endurance based workouts.

Stats:
triceps
overhead press: 2 sets 25#, 1 set 20#
lying extensions: 3 sets 10#
kickbacks: 3sets 8#
dips with 40#bb
biceps:
db traditional curl: 3 sets 15#
db hammercurl: 2 sets 15#, 1 set 12#
bb curl: 1 set 30#, 2 sets 25#
bb wrist curl at 25#
db reverse wrist curl at 5#
Shoulders:
front raises: 3 sets 8#
side lateral raises: 1 set 5#, 2sets 8#
posterier delt raises: 2 sets 8#, 1 set 5#
seated overhead press: 2 sets 15#
side lying external rotation: 2 sets 3#(I never can seem to go up!:) )
I did not do abs today, I am going to add them on to the legs workout on Sat.

Tracee~ I know what you mean about being inthe mood for S&H. It does take concentration! PS is a good workout and I like that series.

Marcy~ How was your workout today? A question about next months rotation~ I think it is more muscle endurance, so do we drop our weights or continue to go heavy? I plan on dropping my weights, but still trying to have the last 3 reps be hard. Is that right?

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I missed you all yesterday. I didn't get a workout in yesterday so I doubled up today. I did Kenpo X and Bryan Kest's Sweat. For Kenpo, I used 2# weights up until the knee kicks (about a 1/3 of the way through) which built up the intensity for me. Sweat was a little challenging for me today. It's been awhile since I did this workout. I've been getting pretty good at eagle/crane pose, but it wasn't happening for me today.

I watched the Macy's fireworks with DH from our front porch with the music from the TV in the background. Our house faces NY city. It was a little foggy out but we saw them pretty well.

I'm glad all of you enjoyed doing Core Syn.

Gin - Enjoy your visit with your DS. It does not mean that you're not fit if you go above your target. I usually do. I write everything down and I see how easy the workout becomes as time progresses. When my HR starts to go down doing the same workout, I feel I'm getting more fit. Cathe's cardio usually gets me up pretty high. Before I started the X, I was pretty much doing all of Cathe's step on 8" with the exception of IMAX 3 or if I'm doing very complex step. 8" really helped get my HR up.

Tracee - I'm glad you're enjoying Tony. I did too. I hope I'm not enabling but I think you may really enjoy the rest of the program. I know it's expensive but I thought it was money well spent.

Deanie - Great workout! I think I'm going to drop my weights a little bit since I'll be doing more reps but the last 3 should still be tough. I only did 8-10 reps throughout this rotation (except for a couple of times when I was too light and went up to 12). I find most of Cathe's workouts endurance except for S&H and some of Gym Styles. The only thing I'm not happy about with the 4-day split is when she says it's going to move at a quick pace. I need more rest when I lift heavy, not less but I'm really glad she's doing the push/pull method so maybe it might work.

Hello Deanie,

I was looking for a check-in to join and Gin invited me to join yours. She said you're starting fresh on Monday. I'd really like to be a part of this. Just let me know what I need to do.

Don't know if you need them, but here are my goals:
Lose approx 20 lbs
Tone up all over
Clean up my diet

If I lose this weight and replace it with muscle, I'll be looking like Cathe!!! That is my ultimate goal!

Let me know if you need anything else and when you're starting new.

Cheryl: Welcome to our check-in. I am actually doing Debbie's original rotation with a few changes to incorporate a few of my new workouts that I haven't been able to try yet. Eating clean is the toughest part of my goals. I do find when I write down what I eat, I get the best results. I'm happy you've joined our check-in.

Deanie - Your welcome. Sorry your kids didn't get to see fireworks last night.:(

I'll start my check-in. I'm doing drill max tonight after work. I'll check in again after it's done...just to keep me honest.

Welcome to the forum. It will be nice to have another person to keep us all honest. ;)

Eating is my biggest issue also and I just haven't made the commitment to eat better. I'll get there eventually though.

Can't wait to find out more about you and how long you've been working out with Cathe.

Great! We can keep each other honest! I'm taking the eating in slow increments. I tried to cut all the unhealthy stuff cold turkey, but there was so much I didn't know that I got overwhelmed and ended up worse than before. So I'm now just watching what I eat and slowly added healither recipes. I wouldn't say I'm really an unhealthy eater, I just eat too much! lol

A little more about me - I'm 29, single, work full time and am going to school to get my Bachelors so I can move on to what I really love - physical fitness. I want to eventually get my ACE certification, but I want to be as fit as Cathe by the time I do that, so I guess it's good I have school and you guys to buy me time and help me change!!

As for Cathe, I discovered her a few months before her last 4 DVDs were released and I was addicted. I'm an extremeist when it comes to exercise. If I'm not dying then it's not working :) She has and continues to be a challenge for me and I love it!

Marcy, I still have to go through the rotations more thoroughly, But I'm pretty sure I don't have all the DVDs needed. Since I'm fairly new to Cathe I only have the following:

Low Impact Circuit
Butts & Guts
Drill Max
Body Max 2
Kick Max
Muscel Max
Core Max
Cardio Fusion
Gym Style Back / Shoulders / Biceps
Gym Stype Chest / Triceps

If I'm missing a DVD for the rotation, should I just try and figure out a substitue? Just want to make sure I stay on track with everyone!!

Hi Cheryl,

I'm about to leave but if you let me know what other workouts you have (besides Cathe), maybe I can help you. You also might be able to substitute some of her premixes.

About me, I'm a legal secretary from NY, 42 years old with 2 grown children. I discovered Cathe on Fit TV almost 2 years ago and that's when I started getting back on the fitness wagon.

I'll try and start posting my meals again (which started out good at the beginning of P90X) but got progressively worse (when I stopped writing it down).

I have the complete P90X program / Almost all the Tae Bo DVDs with the exception of the latest.

I have a few others, but I don't think they'd work in this or any rotation...I rarely use them. I just keep them for others, who are quite Cathe ready :)

I forgot to check in after I did my work out. I did the drill max cardio / leg blast.

I had a question also. I am the classic pear shape and I've heard many different opinions as to how lower body weights are good/bad for people like me. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Right now, my lower body does contain the majority of my weight both fat and muscle. I want to effectively get rid of the fat while keeping the muscle.

Thanks ladies. It's nice to have someone to talk to about all this - previously it was just 'me, myself, and I'!!
