Dance Lessons??

Thats a good question tytbody,

I am a singer, so when I sing I am NOT thinking about dancing. While singing I think about pitch, enunciation, breath control, rythem etc. If I get it right, then it's "dance worthy". When I screw it up, people can feel the mishap musically...on either my part or the rythem sections part or the horn section. People are generally very forgiving of the little screw-ups and dance anyway. Most of us know when the music and vocals are right on...in the pocket....you know, when you get the goosebumps because you feel the music is so good. This is the relationship between dancer and musician. We try to give you music you want to move to or listen to! dmd

HI Janice, go for it. I studied ballet seriuosiy for years and spent two years in Ny city as an apprentice with a major co. as a late teenager. My dad then wanted me to go to college and then I went to grad school but was still able to fit a few advanced classes a week into my schedule. You will train musles you dont hit with weight training or cardio. You wont achieve the level you could have if you started traing when you were younger but you could have fun and advance and improve your leg and core strengh, flexibility. balance, posture, extension and grace of movement. i cant stress hard enough that you will train in atotally different way and make strengh increases that you cant with weight training or cardio. Ballet is a great supplement to Cathe. I noticed you mentioned clogging...perhaps tap dacing would be a good choice. Modern or jazz may be more to your liking. Try some classes and then go for it.

so do you dance to your music? do you feel the freedom and smile with it?

had to come back and tell you...... DANCE LIKE YOU'VE NEVER DANCED BEFORE!!! Find your rhythm. Everyone has one. When I went to bed last night there was this show on with a man with a funny name like atoboto or something. He had this man on there that was/will be in few days 90!!!! and to top it off. the man still dances. he was AWESOME. Made me want to get out the bed and do the lindy hop with him. no..I don't know how to do it but you can't do it without smiling. If it puts a smile on your face, your on the right road. The man Frankie Manning said it keeps him going. You would not think this man was 90 years young either. Experiment. That's the only way you will find..... your ... special .... rhythm
