Damages...So, did you like the end?

I like how they tied things up. Filling in all the blanks. I knew Patty was behind the Ellen attack. And, it was nice to see Ted Dansons character get it in the end.

I also read that the second season is still up in the air.:(

I really liked it. I am wondering what will play out in the next season (assuming and hoping there is a next season).

PS Michelle -- I love your Halloween smiley!!

What was the point of showing that Patty lost her daughter? Regret? I was confused by that part, but the rest was pretty good. I guess my confusion may clear up if there is a second season...

About 3/4 of the way through, I was thinking the final episode was kind of anti-climactic, but the end really saved it for me. Excellent!

Loved the way they took one scene (Patty weeping uncontrolably) and in a previous episode made it look like it was tied to Ellen's attack and/or her fiancé's death, then in a following episode, made it look like it was tied to the guy's suicide, then come back with it once again and show that it was tied to the atteck/murder attempt on Ellen.

>What was the point of showing that Patty lost her daughter?

I didn't see that it had a point this season, but maybe it will show up in the future?

Or maybe it was a lame attempt at showing why Patty may be the way she is? (It didn't strike me that way).

For a brief moment, when I was trying to figure out its significance, I thought maybe she didn't really lose the baby, and Ellen is really her daughter. (Patty may have been an unmarried woman at the time, and her parents may have decided that she shouldn't keep the baby, and got the doctor to go along with it). But that's just because it didn't really seem to 'fit' in the story line.

They really wrapped things up. I had a feeling that Patty was behind the attack on Ellen. When Frobisher was standing in the field at the end my husband said "I bet he gets shot." And then that guy that didn't get his money shot him. It seems like they've kind of set up a storyline for next season with Ellen spying for the FBI on Patty and the whole "dead daughter" thing. I was also confused at why they introduced the angle of Patty's son being there at the apartment when Ellen was there and said that not to tell anyone that she saw him. Maybe something will develop with that. I hope they bring it back next season. I really enjoyed it.

i thought it was great. yes, it appeared to tie things up but i really think it just opened up more for next season.

great writing. could be the second best show on tv. i've got dexter as #1.

Lorie I agree with you about Dexter. I love the show!! I have such mixed emotions about the main character. I love him, feel sorry for him and I am appalled(sp) by him all at the same time

The writing and acting are fantastic!!!

OK watched last night. I totally did not see Patty being behind Ellen's attack coming. But I really do love that Patty Hewes! She is just cool as a cucumber no matter what $&%! is flying her way!

I was wondering about Patty's baby too. Kathryn that's a great guess & I can see that maybe coming out next season. Or it could be something completely different!

I felt kind of sorry for Frobisher at the end. Patty ruined him & went ahead & screwed him anyway, although it became irrelevant 60 seconds later.

So I think they're gonna keep casting celebs in the Ted Danson role. It'll be interesting to see who they come up with for next season.

Ellen annoys the heck out of me (I must confess I always love the "bad girls," & can't stand the "good girls"--the bad girls are who make things interesting!). I hope Patty completely shuts her down next season! }(

I finally watched it last night - I have mixed feelings. I actually felt sorry for Frobisher!

Very interesting about Patty's daughter being Ellen. That would really flip things around. Very well could be that Ellen is adopted. Was that blond man and woman supposed to be her siblings?

But, we still don't know the cause of Patty's severe reaction - she was upset because she ordered the hit on Ellen? Why would she react that way when she used Ellen from the beginning? Did she find out Ellen was her daughter and THEN she ordered the hit?

Why did Ellen tell Patty she didn't have the tape and then Tom gets it out of the bookend (Ellen picking up the bookend even though it's covered in blood makes sense now - it was their "hiding" place.)

I hope it gets picked up again next season. I thought it was very well written.

ellen did tell patty where the tape was and patty sent tom to get it. ellen said she didn't have it with her.

i don't think ellen is patty's daughter, although it could be true. still, it would be too coincidental that patty hired ellen to get to david's sister AND she happens to be her daughter. i think patty was upset because that may have been the lowest thing she's ever done. maybe they are trying to establish that patty has a conscience.

as for frobisher, remember when he asked patty why she hated him so much? i think that he had something to do with the death of patty's daughter in some way and she is seeking revenge. i also don't know if he's dead. he always has a cell phone so why wouldn't he have it on him and be able to call for help? if frobisher is dead, then patty giving the district attorney the tape will not matter. i don't think they would drop that story line.

i also think patty's son is up to something.

also, the bad cop that killed david. we will be seeing more of him.

Oh! This came to me the other day - Ellen cannot be Patty's daughter because the date on the tombstone said 1972 - 35 years ago (Patty also told the guy she asked for directions at the cemetary that she hasn't been around for 35 years). Ellen is not 35 - she's fresh out of law school which makes her in her mid 20s to late 20s at most.

I also thought the tombstone visit and Patty's hate for Frobisher were linked.
