Damage Control....Thursday

Today was B&G for me. It was tough. I did not use any weight except on the dead lifts. I have totally lost my muscle endurance. I have good strength and tone, but I'm dying on Low Ends! :mad:

I'm also hungry! Trying not to cave and go raid the kitchen!
 
Good morning chicas !

This ol' lady is up early early early as DH turned the TV back on when he came to bed and it kept me awake when I tossed at 3:25 AM. So what the heck - up brewing a cup o'java, popping in here for a quickie and then will be off to do a morning session of MMA boxing. Last night was STS D2 - am using the same # as last year which is a little less than the first go round but considering I haven't been lifting much I am :D. Will see how long DOMs last with this disc !

Wendy - hope you had a fun cardio day !

LauraR - B&G is always a toughie but I really like the DOMs I get from that each and every time. And that is one w/o that proves either no weights or even the light ones she uses are killers for sure ! Keep on truckin' and the endurance will come back - muscles are wonderful in that they have memories. Wish I could say the same these days ! :p

Hey to Diana, Lori and Poochy !

Plan to come back at lunch but if not, have a hockey game tonight and won't be back after work.

Happy day - crossing my fingers for another sunny one, even if it is cold.
 
Jacque--I love all of the MMA. I love the way STS cardio merges the core conditioning into the workouts!

Wendy--How was your cardio? What did you do? Apparently you have a lot to choose from! ;) Someday I need a list of what's in your w/o video library!

I have avoided the kitchen and will make it until supper. I am about to go enjoy a South Beach "Tide Me Over" drink and will be fine. (Sigh of relief.)

What are your opinions on powdered drink mixes (crystal light,etc)? I love them but always feel guilty drinking them. But I don't drink diet soda. I rarely drink any soda. So I figure this is the lesser of two evils. I almost swore off them for January when I lowered my calorie intake but figured that would be too much to handle at once. It really helps me when I'm craving "something" to be able to have a flavored drink that is low cal.

Today will be a cardio...yet to be determined. I feel my back from the hanging ab work and Jillians ab w/o from yesterday, even my pecs are talking to me this morning.:D

Wendy-what cardio did you choose today? I'm sure it was some kind of mish mosh you made up.:p

Jacque-Nice you could pop in! I've been doing the MMA's more frequently since I can't do impact. Although I do like them, they are not a very good calorie burn for me.

LauraR-Nice job with B&G this morning. This one is a goodie with or without weights. I drink diet pepsi on ocassion, maybe 1 per week but often times not at all. Another option is the low/no calorie flavored waters, I prefer the carbonated ones. There is a citrus green tea that I like too. I'm not much of a green tea fan, but the orange citrus green tea is good. I have an extensive w/o library with several different instructors, Cathe being my all time favorite though.

I'm back.

I did Kim Spreen's Kickbox BootCamp this morning. Fun stuff and a nice sweat. The sweat was dripping off my face onto the step when I was doing push ups and rows w/my bodybar. ;) I didn't need to tack on abs b/c it's included in the work out. Got it all done plus a nice stretch in 60 minutes. This workout has a little bit of everything which is why I like it and since it uses light or no weights I can easily do it in between weight training days. :)

LauraR:: Oh my goodness :eek:, I think it would take me a week to list all of my work outs! :p As for crystal light, etc...I try to eat as clean as I can but I am far from perfect and have no desire to eat THAT clean so I say go for it. As long as you aren't downing gallons of the junk every day, there's nothing wrong with it IMO and ITA that's it's yummy stuff! Now I am going to have to buy myself some! :D I don't drink soda as a rule either. Haven't in years. I've recently started keeping diet in the house only for weekends when I want a cocktail and need a mixer for it. I drink Captain n Coke. ;) Other then that, no soda for me except for rare occassions when I'm out. I absolutely love Arizona's diet green iced tea though. YUM!

Jacque:: Good job with the weight loads for STS! I'd have cracked my DH in the head if he tried to watch tv in the bedroom in the middle of the night. We sleep with the tv on but no sound. That's where I draw the line. :p

Diana:: LOL, if I had time I was going to mish mosh a part of another KS w/o into KB BC but I ran out of time! You know me all too well! ;) Nice job on the core DOMS! Gotta love it even though it made me wanna cry the other day!:eek:

Diana--I'm all ears. Tell me your faves. I have all the OLD Firms, all of Cathe, P90X, and then these two I just got: Amy Bento Hi-Low Knockout and Powerstrike 4.

I have "tried" Billy Blanks, Keli Roberts, Abs of Steel, and some of the new Firms. Didn't like any of them. Granted, Keli's was a while ago. I have Christi Taylor Hi-Lo heaven that I used to throw in every now and then, but it's VHS. Everything else was such a drastic step down from Cathe that I lost the will to try anything else. But I've been with Cathe long enough (and gradually accumulated all of her stuff) that I need some more options!

Wendy--I'm sold! Kimberly Spreen is on my Amazon wish list, and that will be my next purchase. OK. Here you are enabling. They did warn me. ;)
 
Good Morning!

I didn't get to check in yesterday....to busy! By the time dinner time rolled around I was becoming really tired...and even my back was feeling it:confused: So I went for a nap!:D Until 8! So you know what happened then...I was in no rush to go to bed last night:eek: I should have just sucked it up and not took a nap, or took a nap on the couch instead of in my bed for 90 mins! LOL

So yesterday I did 5 workout sessions (I didn't realize it was as many until then) I did 4DS UB myself and took down one of the trees. Then DH wanted me to make a couple of dips for the Canada v.s Russia game that turned upside down in a matter of mins!:confused:

Today isn't quite as hectic. I had one workout session this a.m and another this afternoon, then one tonight. I was suppose to have 2 tonight but one girl is sick and wants to resched for the weekend. And I already did my workout, which was 20 mins on the TM 10 mins on the bike and then Disc 29 (plyo legs) which included hoping on the bike after each 8th move. So I did about 40 mins of cardio plus legs. I think my rotation I will do will involve 4DS one day a week, a leg workout and high reps once a week.

O.k...Im gonnd read what I missed and then I will return!

LauraR:: I am a Kim Spreen fan if you couldn't tell. ;) You gotta love kickboxing though as that's her forte'! :) She loves to work the core. Obliques get a solid work out when she's in the dvd player! She also likes to obliterate the shoulders too! heheh I use weighted gloves for most of my kickboxing work outs. Really ups the ante. My muscles burn and the sweat pours. Gotta love it! :D Oh and if you don't have one, I suggest you look into the purchase of a bodybar. She uses them for her combat intervals which can be found in almost every one of her work outs! I received one for Christmas. Asked for it soley for doing KS workouts! I purchased Christi Taylor's Fantastic Four (step workouts) a long time ago. I didn't like them at all so I sold them. I really haven't found anyone else besides Cathe who can sell me on stepping but many who work me out in other ways! I am curious about Amy Bento's step but fear it's too intricate for me. I've just started delving into more intricate step choreo (of Cathe's...Step Moves, High Intensity Step, etc) but have to be in the mood to learn or I'll just get frustrated and quit. That being said I am curious about Amy Bento's step but not brave enough to buy one of her work outs....YET!

Morning Ladies .. checking in early this morning .. got lots to do today!! I am STILL sore!!! :confused: rolled over this morning and STILL hurting .. yikes .. I smelled like FREEZE IT last night .. LOL!!!! Ysty I decided on rest day b/c I was SO sore .. I did do CLEANMAX on the house though!! It needed it .. and always makes me feel so much better and leaves me NOT as much to do on the weekends!!

Wendy - there ya go ENABLING again :p but I WILL not fall for Kim Spreen ..{raising fist in defiance} LOL .. I got enough to catch up on .. should have my 6 week/6 pack today .. I am excited .. plan on doing it SAT morning! :D

Laura - told you Wendy was the GREAT ENABLER .. LOL .. but hey .. like I said .. she always knows her stuff though!!! and I have some great workouts b/c of her!! LOL Good job of B&G ya those low ends are killers!! I am in minority dont like Chrystal light - dont like the artificial sweetner in it - it makes me shake and leaves me light headed - but that is just me .. I drink water all the time - no sodas -I do drink occasional SO BE Zero water- and enjoy my CABS too frequently!!!:eek: :p Fav w/o: Cathe STS series and new DVDs (but anything Cathe) /Bob Harper Inside Out / Brazilian Butt Lift / P90X / Insanity .. but I do belive I am running a close second to Wendy on the number of DVD/videos i own:eek::p:D

Di - so you just dont like Jillian .. is it her yelling .. or drill sargeant type delivery?? She tickles me .. but some of her stuff her form is TERRIBLE!!!! SIL: we are doing good :D

Jacque - so you are doing STS rotation too?? How is the shoulder and back doing?? My shldr is achy today still .. I know it is the planks and pushups now that is hurting it .. dang it .. and they are pretty much in EVERY workout I do !!!

Lori - WOW girlie FIVE sessions .. you should have slept good last night! I looked for my 4DS the other day and cant find them :mad: I cant imagine what I have done w/them!! :(

OK .. soooooo today I am planning my 4 step plyo/weight/plank torture (hope my shoulder can hold up for it) .. OR ALL WEIGHT body sculpting! Ok .. gotta jet .. will BBL to see what everyone is up to!!! :D
 
Hey Ladies,

I ended up doing Amy Bento's Kickbox Xtreme....after all the chatter it was on my mind. I also did the Squats section of Tonique Premier and abs from Power Hour. Definitely feeling my abs today! It would be nice if I could do legs today, but I'm home alone with the girls. Fortunately I got my w/o in early today!:p

Do any of you know anything about the Paleo Diet? I'd like to get more information on this style of nutrition.

Wendy-The KS core work is great. I actually like one of the combat intervals that really works the core, and the ab section itself is really good.

LauraR-I actually don't care for KS Bootcamp w/o. I'd be happy to send it to you if the shipping isn't outrageous. You can PM me if you want it. I mostly stick to Cathe for Cardio, but do enjoy Amy Bento's KB and I also have her Hi/Lo Challenge which is good. I have Barry's Bootcamp, Insanity (these are killer cardio-love 'em), AB's weight w/o's which I like a lot too. I have some Jillian Michaels but as you can tell, I don't like her. Her w/o's are okay...but she gets on my nerves. Wendy talked me into purcharsing Tonique....nice lower body w/o IMO. I also have some Tracey Staehle kickbox but don't use them very often. P90X is in my library but I loaned it to a friend last month. Bob Harper, wow-these start off easy and your huffing and puffing in no time. Art of Strength Kettlebell w/o's too....can't forget those!

Lori-You must've needed that nap after your busy day. Is your running pace improving from using the bike? Love plyo legs, just can't do the impact right now. 4DS is awesome, love the wt work in this series.

Laura-it's Jillian's annoying personality-UGH. I actually saw her interviewed and really liked her and that's when I bought a couple of her w/o's. Glad things are better with SIL. Did she have to have her thyroid removed? Wow, you took an unscheduled rest day...so not like you. Hope the bod is up to your torture tonight.:p

Off to bathe the girls and get cleaned up myself.
 
Diana:: In Cardio Combat Surge KS really targets the core/abs in one of the med ball segments. I love it. The other med ball segment targets the legs which is awesome too! I almost did that w/o this morning but decided to do BC instead for whatever reason.

LauraT:: I don't enable on purpose (usually anyway, LOL). People ask opinnions and I give 'em. Not my fault they like what they read! :p What is it with everyone's shoulders these days? Jeez. Between you, me and Jacque we have atleast 3 bum shoulders! :confused:

Lunch break ladies ! :p

Well MMA Boxing was a sweaty one for me this AM - tuckered me out.

Laura - I'm a diet soda drinker - usually one per day just after lunchtime. When I decide to curb the CAB's a bit and not pile up on diet sodas I like to just get some tasty juices (pomegranate, lime, lemon, etc) and add a little to my water. I also found Arizona Iced tea (the powdered) with pomegranate - that is yummy. Probably not much different than adding Crystal light to water though. I'm a "moderation" type of a person since seems that everything causes something, right? So are you a SAHM?

My kiddies are 25, 24 & 21 but I have 2 grandsons that are 3 & 1. Fun time in my life for sure. I'm pretty much a Cathe w/o person but have added Insanity (getting a little creaky for this one), some of the Biggest Loser w/o's to my library and a few others that WENDY ENABLED ME TO BUY . . . ;) She is great for finding new things that are a little different - she finds all kinds.

Wendy - nice w/o for you this AM. Yeppers, we do go to sleep with the TV on but I set the timer. Apparently he came in right after it went off - guess we need training on the timer, huh? Something about the TV in the bedroom that keeps me awake - if I fall asleep in the family room with the TV on I sleep all night long . . . not sure what it is? Oh well - I'm easy when it comes to the King of the Castle ! :rolleyes:

Diana - good you got your workout in ! Now I gotta check out this Paleo diet . . .I'm not doing well and need some motivation.

Poochy - wow your DOMS lasted long - same is happening to me right now - course it's cuz I haven't lifted heavy at all for a long time. My shoulder isn't really painful, just grinds and pops alot and doesn't feel good. My back right now is another story. Something is not right - hasn't been good since the middle of last year. Hope you have a fun class tonight.

Lori - well busy busy still, huh? Good you are keeping up with your workouts. I'm all about if you are tired then take a nap - especially with all you are up to these days. You obviously needed it and you surely don't lack in the w/o's. Follow your body's instincts without guilt girlie !

Off to work and then Sharks ! Hope they play well . . .
