Damage Control June!!

Diana, great news on the job! Congrats! I'm really torn about my job. On the one hand I love the work. On the other, I get tired of my coworkers not being professional and not pulling their weight. A lot of days they leave things for me to do because they know I'll do it and it's getting old. I'm just so frustrated. Every day I start feels like I'm behind the 8 ball. You are going to love working out in the mornings. It sets the tone for the whole day! If I didn't have to be to work at 6, I'd definitely work out in the AM. When the kids were little, I did that. I'll let you all know how I like the beast.

Beth

Thursday night was a fast bike ride with DH, yesterday was FT and XT Burn Sets biceps only premix. Today is a rest day. Sunday looks like rain, so I'm not sure what's in store for a workout. I'm looking forward to LIS this week.

Diana, congratulations on the new job. Just think of all the gas money you'll be saving! Morning workouts are the best. I agree with Beth, it sets the tone for the rest of the day. When will you start the new job?

Beth, I just watched some clips of Body Beast. It looks really tough! I love finding deals like that.

LL, I'm in the same boat as you. I've been finding myself grazing at night, something I used to forbid myself to do. I'm going to go back to only allowing myself fruit after 8 p.m. DH just said the same thing to me this morning that he's out of control with eating lately. Just know you're not alone in the grazing battle. :)

Diana- I think you are so right about the food!!

Beth- I did lose some weight this week but I think it has more to do with increasing water and limiting, but not omitting sweets.

Tina- what do you think about the effectiveness of LL&A and GG? I don't have those but thinking about it if (probably) get ICE.

IMAX 2 1-5 premix with Coremax 1 yesterday and today will be a "rest day" no wo but we will be heading for 2 errands after church before heading to my mom's to give my stepdad Father's Day cards and then to my dad's for lunch and swimming. So I still hope to get my 10,000 steps in. [emoji41]

B made the tournament B team and Hillcats 9U travel team, both baseball! We are waiting to hear on CDawg making the Hillcats 12U. JTrain starts Wayne Service Week at our church today. Then I have a free week to work on purchasing the rest of my school stuff for next year and packing up this year's school work and hopefully look at the budget and see if we can get a week at Ocean City, NJ in August.

We have sports every night this week but Wednesday but it's basically a free week except for a park date with our co op on Wednesday morning. I'm looking forward to sleeping in and going to the pool most days!b

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday was STS disc 9-legs and HIIT DWP. This morning was BR Day 18 (super tough), and STS Disc 10-CSB. My chest and shoulders were fried after my body rock w/o which had tons of pushups and clean & press. Since I'm going on vacation in 11 days, I think I'll repeat the 3rd and 4th weeks of meso 1. I don't want to start meso 2 and have a week off after the first week. I'm toying with signing up for the Daytona RT still. I may pull the trigger this week.

I've always worked out in the mornings...well for many years. With my long commute I just had to do shorter w/o's. Or worse, stop a workout before it was finished.

DS1 and the girls are here to spend some time with DH for Father's Day. :) I got DH a Lowes gift card. He did give me a list, but I would prefer he gets what he wants.

Beth-Have you considered calling your co-workers out? Sometimes that is all it takes. It may be a little uncomfortable, but should get the point across. Perhaps something along these lines- "I see that you left "X" for me to do yet again. If you need help, I'm happy to work with you. Leaving your work for me to do is quite unprofessional."

Tina-we went from rain to heat. 97 is the high today...which makes it really hard to do much outside. I start my new job on July 20th. The gas savings and time savings...goodness...no more spending 3 hours a day driving...makes me very happy. Burn Sets are amazing, short and to the point!

LL-the food thing is easier said than done, we are seem to struggle with that. I'm glad the cake is gone, too tempting. Nice job with Imax 2 & coremax!!! B is going to be busy with practice/games for 2 teams. Congrats to B!! Hope CDawg makes the team. Hope the budget allows for your vacation, you certainly deserve it!

It's back to work for me tomorrow...booh. It may be a rest day or cardio only day.

Good morning all,

This weekend I got a good bike ride in on Sat. and started Body Beast Sunday. Day 1 was chest and triceps. It's a good, solid workout-about 45 minutes long. I went a little light on the weights so I don't hurt my shoulder. It reminded me of a combo of PUB and STS Round 2 type exercise. There were presses, flies and push ups for chest and lying extensions, kickbacks and dips for triceps. There were tricep push ups which are just too uncomfortable for me to do so I subbed regular push ups (better than nothing, right!) I really enjoyed the workout. I previewed todays workout-legs and it looks good. I love supersets and drop sets and PUB is my go to upper body workout. I think whatever type of muscle fibers get activated with supersets and drop sets is what I've got because I always get a good workout with PUB and did with BB Chest/tri yesterday. I didn't mind the host's chatter-I'm there to work out and am usually drinking water and stretching during the breaks.

Diana, I may just try that approach. I did register to take the civil service test next month to give myself more options. I bet you're counting down the days until you're done at your old job!

LL, it sounds like even when you're relaxing it's busy! Glad the boys are having fun at baseball. I can't even remember the last time I went to the pool! Have fun!

Tina, did you ride between rainstorms? We were lucky to get one in Saturday just before the rain hit here again. I also got the grass mowed and a few loads of laundry between rains. Today looks nice and we'll go after work. My plan is legs in the AM and a bike ride tonight.

The USA women's soccer team plays tonight at 7!

Beth

Thinking of you all as I'm about to go on my first bike ride of the season! B will be on his bike, next door neighbor friend on scooter and CDawg on electric scooter. It will be a short one.

Hi Ladies,

It was after 1:30 am before I fell asleep. No workout this morning, but I may give one a try tonight. I'm thinking I may go see the girls at my SIL's tonight though. She is keeping them tonight and tomorrow, then tomorrow night they will go to my MIL's. My shoulders are so sore from the BR w/o and STS CSB.

Beth-glad you seem to like BB! I don't mind most instructors since I'm usually huffing and puffing my way through the w/o to pay too much attention to their chatter. I definitely do not care for Jillian Michaels. Although I like Jillian's w/o's, she is not motivating to me at all. I don't like any high rep/low weight work either.."slim in six" etc. Good luck on your civil service test.

LL-hope you enjoy your mini bike ride with the kiddos!

No bike rides this weekend. This whole week looks iffy for riding as well. DH and I did GS C&T and pilates abs yesterday. I have major soreness this morning. This week is the LIS series and this morning was CSS with the step portion at the end. DD and I have made plans to do one heavy lifting body part per day together this summer. This morning was XT BS chest. With the warm up and stretch, it's under 25 minutes. We'll continue our two mile walk every day with the dogs. The new rule of nothing but fruit after 8 p.m. is working great. Funny how I'm really not that hungry at night now. ;)

Diana, fantastic news on the new job!! I've heard nothing from the one I applied for. I'm secretly happy about it, DH was the one pushing for it. I'm going to get the house super clean this week and then apply for other jobs next week. Speaking of JM, have you ever seen the Amy Schumer skit she spoofs her in? It's not nice but I couldn't help but laugh. I could never workout to someone who's a tad bully-ish. I love Cathe and Amy Bento's friendly demeanor. Wow, how many road trips will this make if you sign up for the next one? I hope some year we could all meet at on the RT's, that would be awesome!

Beth, will DH join you during the BB workouts? That's great you're enjoying them. It's so good to shake it up with something a little different. Good luck with your CS test. Crossing my fingers we all have new jobs soon! :)

LL, how was your bike ride?

Missy, chime in when you can. :)

Tina- that's so great that you can wo with your hubby! One body part a day, I may ask Hubby about that. The bike ride was fun, frustrating and hard in places at different times! We took so long getting the tires ready and everything that my next door neighbor ended up coming with her daughter as well. So there were 7 kids and 2 adults! Little K was in the seat behind my bike. [emoji4] so my ride was 41 min, 3.11 mi and avg 4.5 m/hr. Kinda pathetic! But we stopped for a while to pick up a friend and then stopped again waiting for the rest of the crew.

After the ride and making them lunch I did RWH LIHI Legs premix 7 w/ abs. It was really tough but I liked it but I was also check the clock often wanting it to be over! And my left knee was hurting some, I haven't had pain there until the last few months on and off. So I'm not sure how I'm going to get in plyo tomorrow and Thursday. I may have to sub out low impact. But I'll see how I feel in the morning. We may try to get another ride in. We just ride in our development and it has a lot of hills!

Diana- Sorry you didn't sleep well last night. jTrain's alarm woke me at 5 and I had a hard time getting back to sleep. Then B (who will now be BBaller as he likes to be called[emoji41]) woke me with a start at 7:45 shaking me and making a lout noise out of a dead sleep!![emoji21]

Beth- I love the pool grew up with one. We were there today for a couple of hours. [emoji41][emoji295]️

Hi Ladies,

I opted to hang out with my girls instead of work out last night. Last night I took melatonin before bed and was too tired to haul myself out of bed this morning. A workout is definitely in store for tonight. I'm think original bodymax sans UB, and then STS B&T. That will give me some needed cardio, a bit of legs, and then STS.

Tina-are you having rain now? We are in the 90+ degree heat, ugh. I'm so happy we have central air. How nice that DD is going to workout with you too!!! This would make my 4th RT if I go. 1 in NJ, 1 in San Diego and 1 in Florida. You should join me. I'm looking for a roommate and someone to split the car rental with. Jacque and I met up in San Diego and again in Florida. I met Wendy, Angie, and Cathy from my checkin in NJ. I was thinking of doing CSS this morning too. :) I haven't seen the Amy Schumer skit, I bet it's great!

LL-oh my goodness, 7 kids....you must be a very patient person. It's nice to be able to ride as a family though. I remember pulling my youngest in bike trailer and riding with the 2 older boys. When my youngest was about 10, he saw someone pulling a bike trailer and said "we used to have one of those, I remember that"! He said it was fun for him to!

Hi to Beth and Missy!

Wow! Lots going on in everyone's lives. Nice to hear you're getting bike rides in LL! I have book club at my house tomorrow night so it's been a bit of a mad rush to clean, figure out what I'm going to serve, and just try to figure out the dishes and stuff to use. My youngest went to a music festival last weekend in Delaware where they had to get evacuated due to flooding. Of course everything he took is a muddy mess. Then today, my supervisor called me at 4:45 AM and asked me to get to work ASAP due to call off of the early morning person. So I start the day behind the 8 ball yet again. Anyway, I got through the day, came home, and did the beast back and bi. I'm going to start adding some cardio in after my leg doms go away. The workouts are short enough to do that. So far, I've enjoyed all the workouts. He labels it dynamic training and I love it! Lots of drop sets, super sets, and giant sets. Still getting a lot done in not much time. I used the band for chin ups an pull ups and feel like I got a great workout.

Off to get dinner...

Beth

Yesterday was LIC from the LIS and GS BSB. I meant to say in my last post that DS is the one doing one body part per day. I called him down during the bicep portion of GS. Last night he was complaining about how sore his chest was from Monday's workout. He kept saying "is it normal to be THIS sore"? I'm doing AB this morning and then shoulders with DS, either XT or GS, not sure which one yet. The weather is finally back to beautiful, so DH and I have a bike ride planned tonight. We watched a bike race in town last night. They brought back a women's race for the first time in a few years and the prize money was equal to that of the men's. Nice to see it being brought back. One woman was almost a full lap ahead of the field for the entire race, she was incredible. Bummer that there was a bad crash on the final lap and a few needed to be taken away in an ambulance. I'm so terrified by group riding but it's fun to watch.

Beth, I hope you find a new job soon. It sounds like you're the go-to person for everyone. At my old job, I never said no to being called in or picking up someone's hours. I used to be in a book club and when it was my turn to host, I would get pretty stressed about the same things you are describing. How many are in your group? Is it once a month? Your BB workouts sound fantastic!

Diana, sounds like you've had a great week with your GD's. I like your BM-UB+STS B&T workout. I'm going to try that sometime in the future. :)

LL, nice job on your bike ride! I miss the days we would go out with all the neighborhood kids and ride around. We used to have a great group of kids, now they're all off to college. Enjoy it while you have it! :)

OK so LL&A is on sale today! Convince me to get it! And ICE of course! I don't have any of that group/series except for X10 and the PRS1&2. I need to work on my legs, particularly upper thigh and butt! I have B&G, LIS, XTrain and RWH and Timesaver. I have more, but those are the ones with legs/abs. Any other must haves? GG?

Yesterday I did RWH Plyo 1, I'm about to do RWH LIHI w/ abs, but I have a tough time with the finishers and it's 62 min!

Hi Ladies,

Oh, no workout to report for yesterday. DH and I started watching the new season of Strike Back. It took a lot of effort, but I managed to drag myself out of bed for a short w/o, 4DS bootcamp cardio only. It's been a struggle to get back to my early morning w/o's after having a week off and being able to start my w/o's much later. Tonight I will try to get something in too.

Beth-wow, I wouldn't like a wake up call at that early hour. I hope your supervisor recognizes you for all you do. Everything will come together for the book club. Make sure you take time to enjoy it. I'm not much of a reader, sad but true. Glad you are enjoying BB so far. How many discs and how long is the rotation?

Tina-I used to have to pay my kids to w/o with me. I'm happy that your son is working out with you again. Hopefully he will come to love it as much as we do! I don't like to bike in groups either. Makes me very nervous. Hope you enjoy your ride tonight.

LL-the other gals will have to give you feedback. I tend to use the older leg w/o's more, GS Legs, Leaner Legs & Abs, Super Sets Lower Body Blast premix, STS total body legs premix etc. Nice job with your w/o's!!!

bbl

I did the full RWH LIHI back biceps shoulders and abs! The finishers are tough! I couldn't do all the crazy 8s!! I did keep the weight the same as her for that one. But I think I was able to do it all was because I did some of the wts lowered than Cathe.

I think that RWH Plyo 1 should be called Burpee and Tuck Jump Revenge!

I forgot to mention I do have GS Legs and STS TB, Ab Circuits and Core Max. I don't have Super Sets.

Hi all,

I forgot to tell you that last Friday our water heater started leaking. Monday I called around and finally someone came yesterday to fix it. Of course we had to get a whole new heater. So now I'm finally able to take care of my son's clothes from his camping/music festival trip! My house was a disaster when I got home yesterday. I still took a walk though with DH. I made some sangria, bought some lemonade, grabbed cookies from my freezer, washed some fruit, and put out crackers and hummus. It went fine. The book was a post apocalyptic story set in 2035 in CO called The Dog Stars. We had a real nice discussion about surviving in a society with no laws. Our dear friend who is dying that I went to see last week moved to the local samaritan house yesterday. She is only 52 and was diagnosed in January. I'm still trying to wrap my head and emotions around it.

So the beast didn't happen yesterday. Today I plan on Beast cardio and abs and then maybe the beast shoulder workout to catch up on the rotation. I'm also getting my hair trimmed and getting the wash done. I can not wait until yoga starts back up again. I just can't make myself stretch as much as when I'm doing that. My psoriasis is rearing up, I think because of stress. I'm glad I signed up for the Civil Service test. My biggest problem is I love the work I do. I'll decide eventually...

Tina, my son is doing weight lifting this summer at a gym. Then he comes home and drinks a big high protein, high calorie shake. I'm just glad he's starting to get interested! So nice you can work out with your son. Mine thinks my weights are not challenging enough for him! I wish he'd try though and see how tough some of Cathes and the beasts workouts are to finish!

LL, I personally do not enjoy the Lean Legs and Abs and Great Glutes workouts because I like lifting heavy. About the lightest I do is Leaner Legs from CTX. I don't mind the floor work stuff in GS Legs and PP, etc. but that follows heavier lifting. Then again, in 10 years lighter weights may feel better. You can't go wrong getting anything Cathe designs though. She is so creative and makes the workouts fun.

Diana, the beast is a 12 week rotation. I'm definitely adding cardio. I'm doing the lean rotation which is basically 3 weeks of moderate weights and higher reps (so far), then 5 weeks of bulk-I don't know how heavy or how many reps yet-which is basically one body part/day for 1/2 hour or so (so it'll be easy to add cardio onto that), then 4 weeks of mix and match to shred as he calls it.

Have a good day all!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

I'm working from home today! :) This morning I finally did BM original sans UB, and at lunch I will do STS disc 11-Back & Triceps. Last night on the drive home I was caught in a terrible rain & hail storm. We had tornado sirens and flood warnings etc. It was a nasty nearly 2 hour drive. The hail was small so I'm hoping it didn't damage my new car.

We are getting an estimate on fixing some cement around our house, on our porch, driveway and back patio. We did get an estimate last year but didn't want to spend the money. It will have to be fixed before we can sell. I believe our last estimate was for $3500. It just seems like so much money for something outside.

Oh-we had chinese food for Father's day and its taking forever for the water weight to come off from all the salt in the food. I stuck to the crispy beef and didn't have any noodles, rice, egg rolls or fortune cookies. Just the same, I'm sure the sauce was full of salt as well as being fried.

LL-nice job with the full RWH w/o! I totally agree, the finishers are tough! You may want to throw in an extra day of leg work. I'm doing that with the STS rotation and I'm starting to see some changes. CLB, GS Legs, STS TB leg premix are all good. I think a lot of the plyo work helps the legs too. I prefer lifting heavy too and am not a fan of really low weights and high reps. Even with Leaner Legs from CTX I use at least a 50# barbell. If you like those types of w/o's, you will probably enjoy LLA and GG.

Beth-Glad to hear the bookclub went well! I hate house repairs like that. Our water heater is in our laundry room in the basement so I noticed right away when it started leaking. DH was able to replace it himself thankfully. Is there another nearby hospital that you could work at?

Waving Hi to Tina and Missy.

RWH Plyo 2 complete!

Diana- I think I will add another leg day. Sounds like a good idea.

I hit send too fast!

So the end of the June rotation is coming. Will there be a July rotation before the end of June? I forget how she does that. I've really enjoyed this one. I'm ready to kick up the legs a notch tho. I'm thinking a framework like this:

M-legs
T- hit
W-total body
Th- hit
F-legs
S-circuit? Or metabolic like super cuts?

And then throw in abs 3x per week. I had thought about changing the ab days for this week to not have some days be so long. But I've really liked the short days like today!

I've also thought about that framework all 35 min or less. But I think that would be tough with abs...

Wednesday night was a really fast bike ride. Yesterday was TB and XT BS triceps. This morning was AT and RWH HCUB no blasts premix and GS back. I'm really enjoying the one body part per day with DS. Its short enough that he doesn't complain too much. Tomorrow will be a really long bike ride. Sunday looks like another wash out of a day. On the chicken front, we have another batch of fancy chicks coming on Tuesday. That will bring the total to 31, but four or five are roosters, so we're going to have to re-home a few. I guess that's why hatching your own eggs can be a bummer.

LL, I like your rotation plans. :)

Diana, scary weather! We had a hail storm a few years ago that took out windshields and damaged tons of cars. DH's truck still has the pock marks all over the roof. I hope your car is okay. Are you still planning on selling?

Beth, I have luck like that as well. Whenever I have plans to have someone over, something goes haywire. A few years ago, weeks before my sister's baby shower, our dryer caught fire. What a mess! We still managed to have it here. What book are you reading next for BC? Awesome that your son is working out this summer. ITA, you should dare him to do a Cathe workout, maybe STS TB. ;)

Missy, Missy, MISSY, we miss you!! :)
