Damage Control June!!

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday I did a short w/o in the morning, 4DS kickbox only, and walked at lunch. This morning I was too tired to drag myself out of bed to w/o. Tonight I pick up my race packet for the the Tri on Sunday. This will most likely be a rest day for me. I'm so not prepared for this tri. It's short and not a competitive race, I'll be fine.

DH and I have only spent the one afternoon with the girls. They will be staying with me starting on Sunday. I am taking vacation all next week to do whatever they want. They want to swim and go to bootcamp class with me. :)

Tina-is LM-lowmax??? I did that one a while back. This disc actually scratched and I had to order a new one. Even then I had a hard time throwing the scratched disc away. Oy. Gym Styles I think are my favorite weight series. So is your intention to complete one series and move to the next? It sounds like a solid plan with plenty of variety. I used to follow all of Cathe's monthly rotations and sometimes throw in Shaun T or BR. Now I just try to alternate cardio and weight days. Of course I have to throw in training for any events I'm participating in too.

Beth-Imax 3 is super fun and the time flies by IMO. It's easy to just do each half or just the blasts....whatever works for you. It's all good! Great job with the June rotation. Mix and match as you see fit. I do it all the time.

LL-what are you up to?

Hi all! Headed to the pool with friends so this will be a quick check in. Yesterday was supposed to be steady state cardio since I don't have any bike wo's and I had PRS1 planned but I decided that I was doing a lot of step this week so I decided to do Butt and Guts and boy does my butt hurt to sit!! Today I did 4D HIS tomorrow I'll do 4D Kickbox. I switched them up a bit so I could have abs every other day. So I did 4D LIS Monday hat has abs and didn't do abs yesterday with B&G and tomorrow's Kickbox will have abs and Saturday is intensity with core max. I may decide to do another leg wo. Or I may not be able to do anything we have 3 possibly 4 baseball games that day!

DH ended up biking last night, so I decided to do GS legs this morning along with CM#2 and SM#1 and then DH and I did GS BSB tonight. Tomorrow will be KM + CM#3 and Friday will be HSC. I think I managed to get most of the Hardcore series completed this week. I'm really liking this series per week routine.

On the chicken front, we tried to put the chicks that came from the incubator in with the mother hen last night and she tried to kill them. Looks like we have house chicks for the next five weeks. My DD called me from the state park today saying her bearded lizard that she brought with her ran away. We spent 90 minutes in poison ivy and pricker bushes (and an amazingly large amount of red biting ants) looking for her. I thought the critter was a goner, but some kind stranger who happened by and spent a long time helping us look, spotted her. So besides working out, chicken tending and dragon hunting, nothing else got done around here.

LL, I love the soreness B&G leaves you with the next day. Nice job on your workouts! :)

Diana, will the girls watch you race this Sunday? What an amazing role model you are for them!! I'm sure you'll do better than you think on your race times. Yes, LM is Low Max, one of my favorites for the lower body. I'm jealous your on vacation this week. I hope the weather is beautiful for you. :)

Beth, I find HCLB tougher than Imax3. Funny that we find different workouts harder/easier than others. I've been enjoying not gasping for air this week. Something I find myself doing on the newer workouts, especially the RWH workouts. Are you also biking along with the doing the June rotation?

Missy, where are you?? I hope all is well!

Hi all,

I did end up doing HCLB on Tuesday. Wednesday was a nice hour bike ride and today was the Upper Body Split from CTX.

LL, Butts and Guts has been calling my name, too lately! I haven't been real good at sticking to the rotation this week- wanted more upper body work. It sounds like you've got it under control though and are making it work for you.

Any news on the jobs Tina and Diane?

Tina, you've got your hands full with all those chicks! Sadly, we lost our lizard a few years back. It was some type of an albino lizard and escaped. We weren't lucky enough to find it. At least we never lost a snake in the house-I put bricks on top of those habitats! DS2 worked at the local reptile shop so we've had quite the zoo here at times.

Hi ladies,

This morning was CCC! This is another fun one for me and the time seems to fly by. This afternoon was my second interview at a company I applied to. This time another team member and HR were included. The interview went very well and they did ask when I could start. I should hear back in the next few days. My only concern is that they may not offer enough money. I will have my DH help me negotiate the salary if necessary.

Tonight I will probably do disc 6-legs and tomorrow do disc 5-B&T. I want my legs fresh for Sunday's race, and the weather is supposed to be perfect!

LL-You are doing great with your w/o's! Enjoy the pool party, what fun! Everyone seems to love B&G, but it's not one of my go to's. I do enjoy the ab section though.

Tina-Wow, what an exciting day you had!!! Actually, my vacation is next week. I don't think the girls will be at the race, but I will get them later that day...and for the whole week. We plan on swimming at least one day. DH's birthday is on the 18th so the girls will probably decorate a cake for him. I still haven't done RWH enough to have strong opinions about it. Although I am also gasping for air during these w/o's.

Beth-CTX UB Split is a goodie! I too have a hard time following rotations. It's nice to have the w/o decided though so I'm not trying to pick something at 5 or 5:30 in the morning. I should hear soon on the job. Crossing my fingers.

I'm guessing Missy must've had her surgery. Has anyone heard???

bbl

Beth I wish I could get out in my bike but no one seems to want to do that but me! And I really like HCLB! It's a toughie! I don't have CTX. Do you have all Cathe's DVDs or do you do on demand?

Diana- I don't have CCC is that cardio core circuit from sts cardio? I only have travel fit and HiiT. Would you say other than HiiT, that series is not quite as advanced as xtrain or RWH? Are the sts legs discs all weights?

At CDawg's heartstopping playoff game last night, (they won!! Now off to the championship!) there is a completely fit petit mom there and I always talk to anyone who looks like they're completely fit![emoji41] she says that she doesn't do much cardio at all she does weightlifting a lot particularly legs and does 100 sit ups every day. Last night she had said that she felt that many people do 1 million of those leg lifts withoutweights but for her she feels that she needs to do legs with weights all the time. What do you all think? My mom actually made a comment about my legs tonight's ago. Saying, "is there something you can do for your legs to make your legs look as good as your arms because your arms look terrific! "Kind of like a backwards compliment if you ask me.but I know my legs to need work but it's kind of hard to hear that you shouldn't wear short skirts until you reduce the size of your legs! That is why I'm trying to do like three times a week. Yesterday I did 4D Kickbox with legs and abs., but I'm procrastinating doing 4D boot camp with his and tris this morning!

B sounds like he's getting a cold and he has 11 hours of baseball tomorrow: summer tournament team tryouts at 9, championship at noon, travel team tournament games at 4 and 6, but only 30 min away.

Today we are trying to take it easy, Little K has orientation for Camp Little Bear at 11 and I hope to get to Whole Foods since it's near my church (30 min east). And then head to the pool for a little while (we walk to it) since it will be 91° and then maybe head to the library. But I will need to get Jackson to Eastern University for Manhunt with youth group tonight from 8- midnight!

So yes this is a leisure day for us even though it may not sound like it! We only HAVE to get Little K or orientation. Everything else is easy fun stuff.

Evaluations went well yesterday!! She was here for 3 hours! The longest eval I've ever had. But she did have 3 kids to evaluate and then talk to me for 30 min. The kids liked her fine but said she was long and quizzy at least according to JTrain she was quizzy! So now I wait for her letter on each kid to turn into the school. I will also hand in stuff I need to set them up for next year all by June 30. Then it's prep for next year, get going on my personal summer reading list and any house projects I want to tackle.

Food hasn't been good for me. My weight is up to 170 again. BMI of 25 [emoji21]. I had 2 pieces of cake at Jackson's graduation!

Off to motivate myself for 4D boot camp fast but I find the hardest of the 4D!

Hi to all that follow!

Hi ladies,

So my evening w/o didn't happen. Instead I went to pick up my race packet. This darn rain is terrible....thankfully it's supposed to be dry on race morning.

LL-I have all Cathe's dvd's...except for the very very very old ones. I do love STS, but I can't recall what all cardio w/o's are part of that series. I would definitely recommend the Hardcore Series which includes the GS w/o's. Legs is my favorite body part to work, although I haven't been doing much of that lately. Xtrain is also a very good series. I haven't done RWH enough to give any feedback....perhaps Tina or Beth can. I purchase all the w/o's on the preorder because I get the best price. I usually get the discs and downloads. I can do the weight w/o's at rec ctr if I like. 4DS bootcamp is fun and the time flies by....so get to it!!! Congrats to CDawg!!!! Just remember, what works best for one person may not work for another. Diet/nutrition is key.

bbl to see what everyone else is up to.

I was lazy yesterday and took the day off. Today I did bus and tris from 4D Boot Camp and added Core Max #2 with ball. My arms felt weak today but I kept up with Cathe's weights except for the wrist curls. I did the last few on the right w/o weights since my wrist has been hurting lately and I don't know why.

Today is a HUGE baseball day. B had summer tournament tryouts this morning, Championship game going on now for Little League and his travel team, Hillcats, has a tournament tonight and tomorrow. So he has 2 games tonight. Thankfully it's only 30 min away and 5 min from a friend's house and they also have 4 boys. Unfortunately our water heater was just replaced and now the guy is working on the outside faucet and won't be finished for another hour or so. So I'm missing his game. And I missed him getting hit in his pitching arm at bat but the ump called it hitting the bat. And he's even icing his arm. Bad call. Nothing we can do. And unfortunately the ump is a former neighbor who we feel like doesn't like us very much. He and his wife have never been very friendly to us. They used to live on the same street at us and then we watched moved within a few years of each other to the same neighborhood! But not the same street. Ugh.

I'm not sure if I'll do the Boot Camp cardio segment tomorrow with or without yoga relax. It really all depends on what time the games are for the tournament. And Jackson is getting baptized tomorrow and sharing his testimony with the whole church! Our church is around 1000 people give or take. And we have 4 services so he will speak in front of a few hundred!

Later!

LL, you had quite a weekend! Congrats to the boys and you for the school year...the 1-1 will really give them a leg up in learning. Too bad about the hit to the arm...luckily he's young and it'll heal fairly quickly. I remember giving my epistle at church after my confirmation...now Easter is my favorite time of the year! With all the running around you do I don't know how you find any time to work out. I say just do what you feel like doing, drink lots of water, and eat cake once in a while. It's a daily battle for everyone and you have to make it work for you. I would miss cardio just doing weights. I like getting the blood flowing and sweating it out. I think it helps with stress and it's fun for me! I do have just about all of Cathe's DVDs. The only VHS I have is Step Heat because she signed it for me at the 1999 road trip I went to in NJ. Like Diana I preorder everything so it's not really that expensive. I don't do any on demand or live. There's just not enough money for absolutely everything I want!

Diana, how did the race go? What a nice accomplishment and a great way to stay motivated doing triathlons! Friday night ended up being a rest day for me. After 6 days in a row it was time. Today after work I did X10 mix of step, low impact, and cardio. Work has been extremely busy and stressful. Seeing people you know for 20 years come to die can really get to me. I read Being Mortal by Atul Gawande and if you're looking for a good book about making the end of life decisions, I highly recommend it. But it never gets easy. DH thinks I'm getting depressed again...It all has to do with work. Maybe I should look for a new job, too. Anyway...gotta go.

Thanks for listening...

Beth

Hi Ladies,

So a dear friend passed away Friday night. She was in my bootcamp class and we trained for triathlons together. She had battled breast cancer (IBC) about 6 years and was doing great. Unfortunately the cancer returned. She was such a special person who thoroughly enjoyed living life to the fullest. I'm happy that she is no longer in pain, just a great loss for her many friends.

Saturday was BR day 16, a 75 minute circuit and STS disc 5. Depending on how my legs feel tomorrow, I may do disc 6-legs. If not, then I will start with disc 7 and then do 6. My legs and back side need some work. I think I'm going to add in an extra leg w/o to my sts rotation for a bit. My race went fine. My total time was 1:13, and I think last year it was bit faster, maybe 1:10. One of the gals in my class asked to do another tri in 2 weeks. I'm thinking about it.

My darling granddaughters are here. :) So happy to have the week off to spend with them. DS took of their training wheels and raised the seats on their bikes. We rode to the elementary school and played at the playground. Fun fun!!

LL-what a busy weekend you had. My oldest son played competitive baseball and we had our issues with the umps on occasion. I agree with Beth, you are a very busy mom. Do what you like and what you have time for. It's important to enjoy life and enjoy your kids!

Beth-I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't think because you are exposed to death more frequently than others that it makes it any easier. You are still human with all the feelings and emotions that come with loss. Is there another profession you are interested in?

bbl

Quick update here, CDawg won the first game of the Championship! Double elimination, tomorrow is the next game. And Camp Little Bear (CLB) is this week, Little K is my camper and the other boys are all helping in some way.

I've kept up with my workouts:

I did Kickbox last Saturday I couldn't take the time for all of 4DBootcamp, so I did just the upper body and CoreMax 2. Sunday, off unintentionally. Today I did LIS upper body for 30 min, I didn't do a premix just went to mix and match. Here's the plan for the rest of the week:

Tues-TTM Less Impact 39 min
Wed- PUB
Thurs- GS Legs
Fri -Intensity with CoreMax 1
Sat- Imax 2 with CoreMax 2

They are all an hour or longer, so I may have to do shorter premixes. I have to workout before 7 every day this week because CLB is every morning and I'm just not going to get it done otherwise. And Saturday we have 3 events but only one that I need to be there for and then Father's Day we are headed to my dad's with my in laws, who I just saw him yesterday for the first time since before Christmas because we were so sick over the winter!

Sorry about your friend, Diana! Enjoy your granddaughters!!

Beth- sorry for your loss. I may swap out some of the X10s for Intensity or Imax 2, but both have 30 min premixes that I could do. The same with PUB, but I'm not sure about the premixes on GS Legs. I'll be looking at that. Next week is all RWH, I'm looking forward to the newer workouts again, shorter and intense!

I need to work on the food. I'm tracking with WW this week, just to change things up. I have my Fitbit connected (got scratched/cut on the surface last night, so upset) to WW and I have not tracked any food or exercise in a while and I have 40 activity points in there! I guess I do more than I think! I did add todays and that was 4-5 more points. I wonder if I'm not eating enough? But I'm not losing, I'm still hovering around 170 or just under. Such a pain!!

Hi Tina and everyone!

Phew, what a great weekend! The weather was beautiful and the riding was the best we've had this year. This week I'm doing the 2012 dvd's, which is PRS, X10, LL&A, GG, etc. This morning was PRS #1 and this evening was XT CSB. Tomorrow will be GG and maybe a short bike ride before dinner. I think I'm starting to cave on ordering the new series.

Diana and Beth, I'm so sorry you've both have had losses. We just had a one year memorial service for my aunt on Friday, and it's just has painful now as it was then. Some people you just don't get over losing.

Diana, your Saturday workout sounds exhausting! I don't know where you get all the energy! Nice job on your race time. I hope you have a great vacation this week with your GD's. :)

Beth, maybe you should look for a new job. I'm finally handing in my resume tomorrow. I've dragged my feet long enough. I'm so envious you went on one of the road trips! I'd love to go some year.

LL, I hope all went well at the baptism. Don't you feel so much better after the evaluation is complete, like a weight has been lifted?

I spent a long time shopping for jeans yesterday. I have my normal small hips/huge quads issue. If I found them to fit in the thighs, the waist was gaping. If I went down a size, my legs looked like sausage casing but the waist would fit. I finally found a size eight that fits perfect, but I had to try on a dozen pairs to get there. This article was in Bicycling Magazine and made me feel a bit better:

http://www.bicycling.com/culture/people/what-it-s-live-huge-quads

So that's why my pants always fit weirdly! I have ended up getting them bigger in the quads which makes them bigger in the waist so they are comfortable. Plus as short as I am (28" inseam) it gets really tricky. Thanks for that link, Tina! We're hoping to ride tonight after DH gets home from work. It's showers though off and on all day so we'll see. I have been loosely following the June rotation and did GS C&T (72 pushups!) on Sunday between work and cards and then GS Legs yesterday. LL, there are two shorter leg premixes on that one, so you should be able to find something that works. I have great Doms now in my legs and upper body. I like to hold a weight for the calf work and they are sore today!

Have a good day, all!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday the girls and I did STS disc 6-legs. They used 3 and 5 # dumbbells. They rode bikes while I ran along side, and we stopped at several neighborhood parks for them to play. I was exhausted last night. These little girls keep me on my toes!

Today we may be doing Hard Strikes....then we are off to The Bay-a local water park for small kids up to age 12. It should be a great day!

LL-Congrats to CDawg!!! Sounds like you have a great plan for the rest of the week. You can do either the standing or ball portion of GS legs. They should come in around 30 min each. I'm happy that I don't have to do my workouts so early this week. I enjoy my 2 cups of coffee, feed the girls breakfast....and then to my w/o. How are you liking your fitbit? I have the flex, you can replace the bands. I wear mine for everything, mud runs and all. It's lasted 2 years so far, but I have replaced the band.

Tina-glad you were able to enjoy the weekend! I feel your pain with shopping for jeans. Being the typical pear shape (me), you would think there would be plenty of jeans to choose from. I have found that stretch calvin clein jeans and levi's seem to not gap in the back on me. I also have a couple pair of Lucky jeans that are okay.

Beth-Woo Hoo on conquering the drop sets of pushups!!!! I usually take a break at 10 reps. I can do them all, but need this extra breather. I'm not surprised that we all have the same problem with jeans.

Happy Tuesday!

Quick update: CDawg lost last night, but played well many had a great season. One of the coaches asked him to try out for the Hillcats 12U travel team! B made the summer tournament team and Hillcats 9U travel team again.

This morning I did PUB premix pyramid up plus abs with the ball 30 min.

Diana, I do like the fit bit, but I'm bummed that I scratched it. I don't like getting up early, but I know I won't get it in another time. We went to a friend's pool for the afternoon and then played outside when we got home, only to have Hubby drive to pick up CDawg and JTrain from their church activities, tomorrow we are going to a park with 2 homeschool families for the afternoon if the rain stays away, but I kinda hope it does rain so we can work on Father's Day stuff!

I must say, I'm really enjoying this weekly series rotation. Tuesday was GG extreme premix, yesterday was PRS#2. This morning will be LL&A. I was supposed to do XT B&T with DH last night but I didn't have time, so I'll add that workout onto FT tomorrow. I might do the Burn Sets version, it's a little bit shorter. I've made a chart of all the series I need to complete before I start another round of STS and it looks like it will take me 10 more weeks to finish it. Next week will be the LIS series.

Diana, I hope this new job works out for you. Are the roads safe enough for you to ride your bike to work? DH is only five miles from work and he loves riding in. When he leaves for the day, he does a 30-40 mile loop home. Your GD's sound adorable! I love that they workout with you. :)

Beth, you should hear DH and me complain EVERY TIME we do those drop set push-ups together. Those last two slow reps have me saying bad words! Great job on your workouts!

BBL to check in on everyone. :)

Hi Ladies,

Tuesday ended up being a rest day. Yesterday was BM2 cardio blast premix and STS Disc 7. Today was CLB, one of the girls joined in. I'm trying to add in extra leg work in the STS rotation for several weeks. The girls want to do T25 tomorrow. You gotta love when your 7 yr old granddaughter says "Grandma, do you have T25? " I reply-"Yes, I do." "Okay, can we do speed 1.0 tomorrow?" My diet needs major improvement, just eating too much junk with the kiddos here.

Today is DH's 50th birthday. This morning we went out to breakfast with the girls and my dear MIL. Then I took the girls bike riding for a bit before it got too hot. We've gone from rain all the time to 90+ degrees...UGH. The kids will all be coming over for dinner tonight. :) The girls and I made a cake and I let them decorate it today. They picked out red hots and silver sprinkles....and red frosting to write happy birthday with. It's so cute.

On the job front-I received a call yesterday and was told to expect an offer letter from the company I applied to. I'm so happy. I'm hoping they offer me a 10% increase over my current salary. If not, I will have DH help me negotiate the salary. I've never done that before.

LL-nice job do CDawg and B!!!! Although I don't miss the stress of getting my kids everywhere all the time, I do miss watching them play baseball and football. Nice job with PUB!!! Those stability ball abs are tough IMO. When I do the full PUB, I do the warmup, abs, then weights. My arms are so tired when we get to the abs.

Tina-What fun to run through all the series. I tend to do certain w/o's, so visiting all series would probably be good for me. I do think I may be able to ride to work. They've done some road construction and I think there may be a pedestrian bridge I can use. I'm going to check it out this weekend if possible. I love burn sets, enjoy.

Beth-what are you up to?

bbl

Quick up date: GS Legs timesaver premix 33 min. Maybe it was all the standing stuff?

I'm tired of being 20# overweight. I need to make small changes. I'm going for more water and no food after 9pm. Many times I got for chocolate late when I don't really need it.

I've been working like mad the last 3 days. Wed. I did GS BSB so I got all three gym styles in this week! Thursday was a rest day. Today I'm thinking LBB and then an upper body split tomorrow. One workout a day is enough for me. DH scoped out Body Beast for me on Ebay and got it for $26.00 + 5 for shipping. Such a good deal! I know it's not Cathe, but I've been wanting to try it for a while.

LL, I hope you're having fun! Watching the boys in their sports/church events, etc so rewarding as a parent. You'll be teaching them to drive before you know it! Good job with staying with this rotation. Are you liking it as much as I do? I'm not real strict about it and I haven't lost any weight on it, but I'm enjoying it.

Diana, what a nice week you're having! And that doesn't even include the new job! Wow...you are on a roll.

Tina, a 30-40 mile after work loop! Are you doing any centuries or race type events? Good luck with the job. I may take the civil service exam in August to get on the list for a county job. I have no choice but to go full time somewhere for the family benefits.

Off to workout.

Beth

Hi Ladies,

This morning was T25 speed 1.0 with one of the girls. Then I did STS disc 8-B&T and my ab machine. I would've preferred a longer cardio, but I'm happy to workout with my granddaughter and do whatever she wants. My plan is to do legs in between each upper body STS w/o. Of course 1 will be the STS legs and the other will be a non STS leg w/o. I think tomorrow is legs and if I have time I will add a cardio on. We have a graduation party to go to tomorrow afternoon. DS is taking the girls tomorrow.

On the job front...I received an offer letter today. It's for the same amount I currently make. I'm due for an annual raise at work at the fiscal year which is June 30th. I did ask the recruiter for a 3% increase and HR approved it. Although I wanted more money, it is really close to my house and I will get all my commuting time back. My start date is July 20th! I can't complain about the money as I got a huge raise when I left my previous company for my current company. It's just that I was so underpaid for so many years I feel like I need to make up for it. Plus, being close to home will allow me to run in the mornings and do hour long w/o's before work!!!

LL-nice job with your w/o!! It's all about the food. Cut the white non-nutritional carbs, increase your protein and healthy fats, and drink tons of water. Just remember, nothing tastes as good reaching your fitness goals! I struggle right along with you. It's a habit for me to reach for chocolate after a meal. Right now I'm trying to have mint tea or tic tacs to prevent myself eating unnecessary food. It's tough for sure, but we can do it!

Beth-Great job with GS!!! I love these w/o's!! Body Beast looks great to me. Can't wait to here how you like it. I have P90X and it seems kind of similar. I also have P90X2, P90X3 and P90X+. I need to go through my w/o's and start selling the ones I don't use regularly. I hope you are able to find less stressful job. I doubt the pay will be comparable with a county job. My DH carries the younger 2 boys and I just carry myself on insurance.

Tina-what are you up to?
