Damage Control February

Hi ladies,

Wednesday was a well needed rest day. I didn't get home until after 1am and also had a blood donation apt that day. I think I fell asleep at 8:30. Yesterday was ICE CLB, and perfect for an easier day. This morning I did BR Day 9 and will be doing GS BSB at lunch. This will be my 3rd week of GS and may move on to Xtrain after this week.

I'm going to visit my sister tomorrow. I haven't been to her new house since she moved in back in December. I walked through it with her in November though. Then she's coming with me to look at a new house. I've looked at it once before with DS2. It comes with a 4 car garage standard, I think DH will like that. I'm not sure about it though. It only has 3 bedrooms on the main floor and I really want 4, or 3 with an office/study. They do finish the basement if you want and it has a large bedroom, large walk in closet, full bath, rec room bar, finished and unfinished storage etc.

Beth-sounds like you are really stressed and that is causing insomnia. Perhaps getting back into your yoga class would help. We all go through stressful times, hopefully this passes soon for you. Good job keeping up with your workouts, that's a good place to start!

LL-glad you are enjoying your boot camp classes. They work wonders for me and hope they do the same for you. I'm with Beth, do you whatever motivates you and is fun. You won't do it if it has a dread factor.

Tina-what are you up to???

Thanks,
Diana

Hi all,

Not much new here. I took Friday off after 10 hours of work. Sat. was Hard Strikes with abs. I completed the rotation! Tomorrow I'm starting Ice level 2. Today is our trip to Penn State with my parents to visit DS2 before his spring break in Cancun. No need to worry, right? He's going with his friends. I'm still debating about working out today-missed TTM on the rotation so may do that, but my favorite combo from HST is calling to me! I'm also back to logging in calories-helps me reign in my intake for sure!

What's everyone else up to this weekend? Tina, are you having decent temps? It was almost 60 here yesterday!

Beth

Hi! So I went back to Boot Camp Thursday and Saturday. Both were warm up and one station with 4-5 30-intervals with only body weight and no push ups! Yesterday there were these burpee squat jumps and was able to do 8 in 30 seconds. I'm not sure if that's good or not. But I am missing weights because Friday I did Party Rockin' Step #1 30 min premix.

So today I stepped on the scale and I'm almost 182!!! I just keep gaining. [emoji32] I'm eating good food except for the sweets. And today is my mil's bday celebration (bday tomorrow) so we are having cake and not just one cake but 2 because we ordered the wrong flavor.

I hope that there will be time to do butt and guts today. I think I'll really need it but we are going skiing tomorrow! In the warm weather! It was 60° yesterday!

Hi Tina, Beth and Diana!

Hi Ladies,

Today is DS3's 20th birthday! We are planning on going to dinner, or picking it up and bringing it home-that's what he wants to do. Yesterday was a rest day, but I had a wonderful time with my sister. Her new house is beautiful and I'm so happy for her. We went and looked at a couple houses I wanted see. It's looking like we may need to put in counter tops and back splash before we sell next year. I just hate putting so much money into the house when we want to sell.

I've been debating doing the 3rd week of the cleanse. The scale has been very kind to me so I guess I'll do this next week. All the food is fresh and homemade, it contains tons of veggies, fruits and nuts. The prep time is my least favorite part of the cleanse, other than that it is working out well. Today I did Xtrain CLB instead of GS legs. I really wanted some cardio too and didn't have time for 2 workouts today.

Beth-yay for completing the rotation!!! I haven't looked at the ice rotations in a while. Good luck with ICE level 2! Enjoy your visit with DS2! I'm sure he's looking forward to spring break in Cancun-what fun!

LL-great job with your bootcamp class. Have fun skiing tomorrow, sounds like fun with the warmer weather. Daily weighing really helps me stay on track. I weigh every morning and write in a purse size calendar I keep in my bathroom drawer. I've learned over the years that this really helps me stay on track with my nutrition each day. I know what foods will cause a spike in my weight (bad carbs, sugar, flour, cakes, cookies, etc.), and eating lots of steamed veggies with lean protein and drinking tons of water will make it go down.

Tina-hello, what's up with you and your clan???

bbl

Wow, did we realize this last year, Diana, our youngest were born one day apart! My DS2 will be 20 on 2/22! We were pregnant at the same time...seems like not 20 years ago! We celebrated today at Penn State-sweet potato fries and all! Hope your dinner was fun tonight!

I wrote a long post last week and forgot to hit upload. Last week was XT weights, CF, TTM, PP, and R'e S'e. We had two great days of biking this weekend. I've tweaked my shoulder, so I'm not working out this morning. We're doing GS's this week. I'm not sure what cardio's I'll fill in with yet. Our zoo is officially out of control. The sick hen is getting better, but it's too cold to put her back out yet. The mother hen is a P.I.T.A., but the chicks are super cute. Our 14 y.o. dog had surgery last Monday on her teeth and eye tumors. I'm taking care of my neighbors three cats and dog while they're away. And of course, taking care of the 30 other chickens in the coop. Good thing I'm an animal lover.

Beth, I hope you're able to sleep while you DS is away. I wish I was going somewhere tropical! The level 2 Ice rotation looks great, have fun! :)

Diana, we always seem to be on a similar rotation. I think we may be starting STS next week. DH just wanted to get in one more round of GS, which is his favorite. A four car garage sounds perfect. DS has two cars, one of which is a convertible, so when the weather is bad, DH has to park his car outside. Add in a mower, dirt bike, kayaks and oodles of tool boxes, a four car garage would be heaven! Is the house you're looking at one story? Congrats on your scale numbers! All your hard work is paying off. :)

LL, I don't even dare to get on the scale. I could feel my extra winter weight during the big climbs on our bikes yesterday. Spring is just around the corner, so don't fret the numbers. It will come off as soon as we all start getting back outdoors. :)

Hi all,

Funny, Tina, I sometimes forget to hit the post button, too. Glad to hear the chicks are thriving! DH is getting a new bike for this summer. We'll be out for sure when it gets warmer. Nice you were able to get some riding in last week!

Diana, Tina is right-a 4 car garage would be awesome! Your cleanse sounds like after you get prepped is really good eating. Do you use portion containers? I've seen them on Beachboy meal planning posts.

LL, glad to hear it's not all pushups every day! Are you doing the Bootcamp this week?

Today I started the Ice level 2 rotation. I'm tweaking it to fit my schedule (of course) so today was Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em the whole shebang. I used 8 lb. weights for all but the tricep press-used 12's for that. It'll be interesting to see if I can move up in a month. I did have to take a break between the dips and the extensions or I would not have been able to do more than 4 extensions! TTM is on tap for tomorrow, but since I'm off I'm switching Wed. and Tues. around since Wed. is a longer workout.

Beth

Hi all! Quick update as I'm really beat. I did the Boot Camp this morning at 6:20, lots of legs! But a few push-ups in the warm up and again in another round: 10# wts push-up then alternate one arm rows. Hard!! We have a few time skiing! Hubby grilled chicken and steamed broccoli so I didn't have to cook tonight! And some left over Caesar salad.

Diana- happy bday to your son! Let us know about the potential cleanse! I need to drink more water, I go thru spurts. Now isn't a good one.

Tina- sorry about your shoulder but I'm sure you are happy to be on your bike again! I didn't get on the scale today, too much bday cake yesterday!! I will tomorrow.

Beth-rock em sock em isn't bad, I kinda liked it. I'm not sure what I'm doing tomorrow. Not Boot Camp. Since I'm not on any rotation and Boot a Camp is random I don't know what I "should" do. The trainer Matt says that it doesn't matter if you do 2 or even even 3 days of legs or arms in a row. Anymore than that might be too much.... So since there wasn't any heavy wts last week I may do that. I love Burn Sets, but I would like to do all for 30-45 min, and I don't think that's possible. I wonder what all upper body I could do in 30, maybe RWH upper no finishers, or PUB premix 30 min. Or maybe I'll just wait until morning and decide then. Maybe I'll just do RWH low impact or TTM less impact. So many DVDs and now I have less time to do them! I hope to do Boot Camp 3-4 times a week. But I don't know what I can justify paying for when my groupon 5 weeks are up...

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday I did BR Day 11 and GS C&T! I've completed 3 weeks of GS with some extra leg w/o's thrown in. My knee has been bother a bit more because I'm pushing it too much I guess. I do feel like it is getting better as I'm able to do more exercises. Lunges hurt the most so I tend to stay away from them or do an alternative exercise-like glute work. I can say my back side is improving with all the glute work I do as substitutes during a workout.

I lost a total of 4lbs during the first 2 weeks of the cleanse. The scale is creeping back up this week which I expected. This week we are adding grains and legumes. I made granola bars yesterday with bananas, almond flour, gluten free oatmeal, unsweetened dried apricots and berries, pepitas, sunflower seeds, chia seeds and vanilla. They are delicious!

On the house front, we are foregoing the house with the 4 car garage. It is a ranch with a full basement on an acre lot. The house is smaller than I want and has more land than I want. We'd prefer a larger house with less land to take care of.

Tina-oh my, you are tending to a zoo at your house! I'm sure they are keeping you busy. How is your shoulder feeling? I noticed my bike seat has dust on it..oh my. Definitely need to get it out, just afraid of hurting my knee when trying to clip out. I'm looking at the Xtrain rotations trying decide what I want to do next.

Beth-You are so awesome! I don't know how you manage any rotation with your work schedule! The cleanse recipes are for 1 or 2 servings, so we don't really need portion containers. Usually dinner one day is lunch the next so I do divide those out. Dinner last night was mixed greens with clementines, strawberries, seeds/nuts, and the dressing was olive oil, balsamic and dijon mustard-delicious!

LL-you are doing great with the Boot Camp classes-keep up the good work! They sound very similar to the gym I go to occasionally. How do you feel about them? They are also similar to the BR workout too and my body responds well to this type of training. Sound like you had a wonderful time skiing and DH cooking dinner....Yayyy.

Gotta run...bbl

Hi all,

Having a good week?

Today I sat for 8 hours for training-blah-at least it's only once a year. I got home and TTM was on the agenda, but I opted for Insanity Pure Cardio-25 minutes of cardio with stretches. I needed some good, solid cardio and wanted something on the shorter side-so Insanity it was. Tomorrow is LIS with MM back. Sounds good. The MMs leave me with DOMS and I know that's not an indicator of muscle growth, but I like the feeling of feeling like I've worked out-know what I mean?!

Diana, your diet sounds so healthy and amazing. We're getting back to eating salads for dinner lately. I had a sticky bun at the training today so I guess it balances out the salad! So fun to be finding a new house....I'm ready to sell everything and just "get out of dodge" sometimes-got an insurance letter that said my annual physical is going to cost us nearly $500 dollars. I may opt out of the mammo if my insurance is this bad. Apparently Blue Cross merged with Highmark...we're still investigating. On the plus side, we got the taxes done on Monday-all but local for us. So we only have that and the FASFA left!

LL, isn't it nice when DH cooks! What workout did you end up doing? Have you thought about doing MM in a pyramid form? Like first round use 8's then 10's then 12's and just do as many as you can last round? I'm thinking about it...I love the pyramid concept. I haven't tried it yet-been following along with Cathe's weight (or lighter like I had to do for triceps).

Tina, did you start STS again? Have you increased the one rep max? When do you and DH do it-at night? I wish I had the stamina/time for it. Maybe if my DH did it with me I would! He's still going to the gym and is now looking at orthotics to be able to walk. We walked last night-40 minutes and his plantar fasciitis is back.

I'm off to bed...

Beth

I ended up doing PUB premix up only. Tonight was boot camp, tomorrow morning will be boot camp and Cathe legs on Friday.

Gotta get to sleep!

I made it to Boot Camp Wednesday night and yesterday morning. Today I did TTM premix less impact, love that one!! Hard and worked up a good sweat in a short amount of time. Tomorrow I might do Butt and Guts if I can wake up early enough. Little K's bday party is tomorrow morning at 10 and I need to decorate his cake tonight. (I actually made 2 as one broke, I was flipping it on to my ARMS not a plate. How dumb is that???!!!) so I've been eating that. Other than that my food has been going. I think I sound like a broken record!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday I spent 50 minutes on the elliptical. I didn't have time to work out in the morning and met some friends from my previous job at lunch. Today I did BR Day 16 I think. It was another tough 1 hour and 15 minute circuit, not as bad as the previous one but still tough. I'm thinking about starting STS again and forgoing Xtrain. I'm not sure yet.

Several of my cousins and I do a fitbit challenge. We do the weekend warrior and workweek hustle. It's very motivating to help me get my steps in.

So our house has gold doorknobs, gold faceplates, and gold trimmed light fixtures. So old and dated. Today DH and went to Lowes and I got some black knobs for my kitchen cabinets. We picked out some light fixtures but haven't purchased them yet. Our house was a show home so it has all the upgrades (from the 90's). We are starting to replace all of these "outdated" fixtures as long as we can pay as we go.

My little girlies are coming for spring break. :) I'm flying out there on March 18th to pick them up and DS1 will have to fly them home the following Sunday.

LL-great job keeping up with your bootcamp classes!!! :) Happy birthday to little K! No worries about a little cake.

Waving Hi to Beth and Tina!

Diana, I've seen those Fit Bit challenges but haven't done any yet. And wow, I feel old when the 90s are outdated!! Have fun with your little girlies! And I wish I could say it was a little cake. But thankfully it's almost gone, so the last piece will go to him today. We have tons of left overs from Chinese on Friday and pizza and Stromboli yesterday. But I have some healthy lunches in the fridge with chicken, broccoli and quinoa. That will be my lunch for the next few days. But I need to prep some more and extra veggies so when I need a snack, it's ready to go. But my weight is really up there. I am really going to work on water, no sweets and sleep this week. I also meet with the trainer early this week to do the weighing and discussing food, so I hope that will help. I still think I'm low on my protein. At 5'9" and 180#, I'm not sure 125g is enough. I've been reading that I should be eating close to my body weight in protein, but that your body one processes about 30g of protein at a sitting. That would mean 6 meals of 30 g of protein a day. My protein shake is only 25g. It will be interesting what he says.

I did LL&A yesterday, premix 35 min chair/standing and barre. I might take today off as I've worked out 6 days in a row, but I feel like I should do something because my weight is so high!

So this week's wo plan:
M-Boot Camp
T-upper body
W-Boot Camp
Th-Boot Camp
F-Legs
S-Boot Camp

Hubby goes back to work tomorrow and we may go skiing, but it's going up to 60° today and tomorrow is going to be really warm too. But I found a great deal on. Lift tickets that's not the same mountain we normally go to. Then on Thuersday Hubby goes on his annual golf trip in FL and comes back Tuesday. My bday is Saturday. So I've planned for the kids to go to grandparents and I'm have a dinner with my girlfriends!

Hi Tina and Beth!

This is kinda long, 8 min and I'm not finished watching the whole thing yet. But this is from my training to our group. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday I walked for about 70 minutes when I got home from house hunting. DS2 and I looked at a model home, one that I didn't look at before because I thought it was too small. It might actually be a good fit for us. It only has 2 bedrooms on the main floor, the master and the other is a suite too. My office would have to be in the finished basement but that is doable. If we move about 15 minutes further north the base price of the house is $40,000 less than in the neighborhood I looked at. There is another development in our city but it is it much higher priced. We can't afford to downsize in our current city. Sad but true.

LL-I haven't had a chance to look at the video, but it sounds very similar to what they do at the gym I go to. You have to be in the right mind site in order to lose weight. I did WW for 3 months once and I didn't lose anything, I just wasn't mentally prepared. Being a busy mom, teacher, wife, etc takes a toll. Don't beat yourself up about it, just do the best you can. You are doing great, keep up the good work.

Hi Tina and Beth.

Hi ladies,

I'm still doing the Ice Level 2 challenge. Today is the Kickbox/Triceps.

LL, I agree with Diana-you have a lot on your plate with the schooling and activities. It sounds like you're having fun at Bootcamp and you've got a good plan in place. Do what you enjoy during your workouts-it's one of the few times of the day that's completely for YOU! It should leave you energized and happy-from the endorphins!

Diana, glad the BR is going well and you're getting lots of steps! So nice the granddaughters are coming to visit!

Tina, how's the weight lifting going? Did you ride on Sunday? It was nearly 60 here!

Have a good week,

Beth

Saturday was a rest day and Sunday was a 40 mile ride. This morning I only had time for a quick cardio, so I did BM2 times saver and the bonus cardio segment from LIC. DH and I started another round of STS tonight. My shoulder seems to be all healed up, but I'm not going any heavier with my weights than I did during the last round. Tomorrow will be B&G in the a.m. and STS legs in the evening. DS and I are still doing one body part per day before we do a 2 mile walk with the dogs every weekday. He hasn't lost any more weight, but he says he can feel a difference in his arms.

Beth, sorry to hear about DH's PF being back. Both of us have had it, and it's so painful! I hope he's feeling better soon. Don't get me started on health insurance, I feel your pain! We can no longer use any doctor affiliated with the hospital we've used for the last 25 years. I'm still trying to get all the records transferred to the new doctors. I really don't like the hospital we're being forced to use now. I thought all mamo's are required by law to be covered in full now?

Diana, hurrah for the GD's coming to stay with you! You must be trilled! Any more travel plans for work coming up?

LL, I'll check out that video clip tomorrow. I'm really interested in checking it out.

Off to bed. :)

Quick update: Boot Camp class yesterday and RWH LIHI CTS no finishers today. Tomorrow will be Boot Camp at 5:15 and then WW, if I can go. Little K had a fever all afternoon and then the threw up right before he went to bed! Thankfully Hubby has a local meeting tomorrow and might be my driver for the day. Thursday I have my orientation at Boot Camp, half was yesterday and the rest will be Thursday at 6:20 am! The we will talk about nutrition, body fat and building muscle.

Tina, I need to get out my bike Little K was out on his bike and asked me if I was going to get out my bike. 40 mile ride wow!

Beth and Diana, I know I'm hard on myself, but I hate being overweight!
