Damage Control December

Beth- I heard about that program. But I'm a little gun shy of BB and frankly any new programs. Angel Tree is finished! A bit chaotic but fun!

Hi ladies,

I went old school yesterday and did IMAX the original. Then I went to my company Christmas party and I ate a bit of everything except desert. Tomorrow is our Unit party and I'm taking my pasta salad-with beans and veggies in it. At least I'll have something to eat! How is everyone else managing all the temptations?!

Diana, if you have time, go see a live soccer (football in England) match!

Beth

Quick update: yesterday was RWH LIHI CST 2 sets no finishers and this morning was RWH CUB timesaver. I was just not into it this morning. Very tired. Thanks to the gluten free dairy, from last Monday I'm down 3.5! Let's hoe it stays off. One more pound and I will have lost the Disney weight! I need to get a move on too because I'm not fitting into some pants!!

Beth, I don't have that item but I do have IMAX 2, but not in a long time. I don't really go for the older ones anymore. I guess the length scares me and I feel like if I do a timesaver, I only cheating myself...

Hi Tina and Diana!

Hi Ladies,

It's been a whirlwind week for me. There will definitely be another trip in January. I'm not sure if that will be me or not, but I think so. We had to de-ice before we could take off so I had to run to make my connecting flight. They really try to get you in the right time zone. As soon as took off dinner was served, then it was lights out. Of course hours later when I'm finally starting to doze off, the lights come one and coffee cart comes out! I landed at Heathrow and basically walked right through customs since it was 5:30am. My co-worker texted me when he landed and it took over an hour for him to get through customs and into the terminal. Then the next adventure began....we had to take a train...the a taxi...then another..then another taxi to get to our hotel. We were working in an industrial park, not a very nice area. We didn't rent a car...not that we could've driven here anyway. The traffic is crazy busy with 3-5 lane roundabouts, and driving on the opposite side of the road..scary. We had to walk to the local ASDA (part of the walmart family) and get lunch everyday. That is pretty much the extent of my exercise. We may go check out a castle tomorrow which sounds pretty cool.

What's the update on ice.....is it shipping??? My knee is really hurting this week. I'm supposed to sleep with a brace on, but I didn't bring the brace with me.

Beth-That's great that your DH is doing yoga with you! Sometimes when I can't sleep, I do Cathe's stretchmax to help me relax and fall asleep. Since the boys are older I've really trimmed down the holiday decorating too. At this point, my tree isn't even up. It's probably nice to take the class so you get the benefits of having an instructor to help with form etc. Keep me posted on Hammer and Chisel, I haven't bought it yet, but a couple of my friends really like it.

Tina-wow, I can't believe you are still riding. I missed out on a snow storm that left a foot of snow at my house. It's very gray and wet here. It hasn't rained, but the ground is saturated. I may join you on meso 3/Ice...I'm ready to start exercising again...hoping my knee will be able to handle it. Although I can walk on it, it is still very painful and doesn't seem to be improving.

LL-That's good news for B. Dairy has been known to cause a lot of issues. Way to go on the weightloss!!!! I'm out of sorts without being able to weigh myself every morning, or exercise. We've had some 10 hour days this week and I didn't have the energy anyway. RWH seems to fit your w/o time just right! I love BB and all the programs I've purchased from them. Their customer service is top notch.

I'm looking forward to getting home in a few days...but not the 9 hour flight and 2 1/2 flight to get me there.

Today was RWH LIHI back one set only, it's all I had time for today. Tomorrow is either LIHI legs or RWH CLB, I think. Today was our annual train trip into Philly to see the Macy's light show and dickens village and then to the Comcast light show. None of my usual friends were there, basically all brand new or pretty new. Bummer, schedules just didn't work this year I guess.

Diana, your travel seems like it was a whirlwind. I hope you get to rest up and enjoy some of your time. And I can't believe the snow you've had! The weather here has been in actually pretty nice. Last weekend it was in the mid 60s and today it only went down to 40!

Hi all,

I'm still hammering away at getting to know the new workouts. So far I've done 6. To me, they are short, metabolic workouts. Of course, I am going fairly light on upper body moves. Last night was Total Body Hammer which was 3 rounds of 3 different exercises done for 10-8-6 reps. There is not much rest between sets (5-10 seconds). I liked the pace and the moves and am pleasantly sore this AM. So the two I have really liked are the Chisel Balance and Hammer Total Body-so far. In the future I can see doing 2 of the workouts back to back for a metabolic day. They just seem really short compared to Cathe!

Otherwise, I'm walking and eating too much of all the cookies and candy that are so thoughtfully brought to work from families. I've been trying to use some of the 21 day fix containers for my diet. Hardest for me is only having one carb container a day! My cereal doesn't even fit in it. Protein and veggies you get the most of, of course.

Diana, hope you get to that castle! What are the English thinking of the US these days? Can you do some pushups in your room at night? I'm sorry to hear about your knee-not being able to do much cardio may be giving it a good rest anyway.

LL, from my experience, try to stay in touch with your old friends even if you're not in the same circles anymore. glad to hear you're still going strong with RWH and losing some weight!

Tina, what are you up to?

Beth

This weekend was two great days of bike rides. I tweaked my calf again on Friday during DM. My neighbor, who's had countless leg injuries from running, thinks I have a small tear in the muscle and during high impact it's bleeding a little, which gives me that "apple in the muscle" feeling. It's sore today, but much better than it was. Yesterday was M3D25 C&B. Today was ICE LIS with the BB and abs add on. I really liked it. In each series, Cathe resembles certain celebrities. In today's workout, I thought she looked a little like Tina Fey. I'm looking forward to next week, when I can really try out the new workouts. Yesterday I got a call from DPW saying they found my purse and checkbook on an on ramp to route 95. I didn't even know it was missing. My only guess is that I left it in a cart at Target, or it was taken out of my cart while I was shopping. DH kept walking away from the cart when I went up an aisle (he was pushing it) and he paid when we got to the register. Of course all of my cash was gone, but my checks and cards weren't taken. Of course I reported them stolen, just in case they wrote down any account numbers. So, I don't have a debit or credit card until after the holiday. I was so touched by the kindness of the state workers who took time out of their day for me to meet them so they could get it back to me.

Diana, are you back home now? I'm sorry to hear about your knee. I hope it's feeling better than it was. How was the castle tour? I hope you're not too jet lagged.

Beth, how are you liking H&C so far? I don't miss working around all the holiday goodies that get brought in. That's so tough to stay away from.

Hi to LL. :)

Hi Ladies,

I'm back!!! Sunday night I was exhausted and went to bed at 8pm and woke up at 5am. I lazed in bed until DH had to get up for work. I didn't start work until almost noon. I did the laundry, went through the mail etc. Yesterday I started my day with BR Day 5 and STS disc 22-CST. I'm going to finish STS, although my week off was between weeks 3 & 4 of meso 2. I'm just gonna keep rolling with it. My knee is not getting any better. They said it could take up to 3 months, but it doesn't seem to be improving. I'll have to price it out, but may need an mri in January or February. I don't want to wait too long as tri training starts in April and I start swimming in February. Today will be the next BR w/o and STS disc.

I've been busy getting my Christmas cards done...going out in the mail today. I hope to get the tree up today too. So many things to do. I need to talk to my sister about Christmas eve dinner, food and gift shopping....so much to do and so little time. I think DH and I are going shopping tonight.

Did any of you receive Ice yet? Mine hasn't arrived, but I haven't checked my secondary email account for the shipping notice either. I'm sure it will show up soon.

Beth-glad you are enjoying H&C. That's on my list...Its good to mix things up so we can keep our bodies guessing and keep progressing.

LL-how is the diet going? Is little B feeling any better? What about you?

Tina-what are you up to??

bbl

Quiet in here! I guess we are all busy working out and prepping and eating clean right??[emoji12]

It has been really hard being gluten free and dairy free. I haven't been perfect and my mistakes have been unintentional except for my whey protein powder. But I have lost the Disney weight!!! I had gained 3.8 and I've lost 4.4! Hopefully I can keep it off even after I add back in gluten. The biggest change is the baked goods! I have been having about 1/4-1/2 of a lard dairy free dark chocolate bar every day at night, 240 calories or less. It keeps my sanity. I did buy some dark chocolate almonds for the kids stockings. But I had some. Those are hard to keep in check. I think that contributed to the weight gain between coming home from the beach. I gain 2.3 I those 2 months and that will be the next weight I will be trying to get off. I think I'm going to look at it like that. Smaller chunks of weight to lose rather than looking at the fact that I have 25 pounds to go. I will go by events, like vacations and holidays. [emoji41] much more manageable!

After 3 rest day, no time, frustrating days, I finally got in a wo today: RWH LIHI Legs.

Diana- B isn't really any better. Just eating less and he HS messed up and gluten once maybe twice (not sure if he had shrimp (gluten free) or crab (gluten) and dairy once. So they may make him start over.

Hi Tina and Beth!

Hey Ladies,

ICE arrived today! I did icy core #1 after STS legs! I saw part of the metabolic workout, it looks like it has lots of lunges...and my knee can't do those.

LL-I feel your pain with the constant up and down of the scale. So far I'm doing pretty good. I'm already back to my pre-trip weight. Daily weighing really helps me keep the food in check. I definitely think that gluten free would be much harder than dairy free.

Hi all,

Today I did the new Kickbox-Rock em, Sock em? from Ice. It was fun and I had a good sweat going by the end. I added the Blizzard Blast, but not the abs. It was an 11 hour day at work and I'll be damned if the only thing I do today is work! There have been some tragic events for folks I work with, so I am picking up extra hours on Christmas. I'll still get off work at 2 and then host the family at 4. How long do you cook prime rib? My brother dropped off what looks like a cinder block to cook-I've never even had it let alone cooked it. Does it take a long time? Should I cook it a couple of hours? The recipes all say only an hour-but it's quite square and I don't know if the middle would be done? Any input would be appreciated! Thanksgiving with the turkey in the bag was great!

I'm not super thrilled with Hammer and Chisel. I'm not sure if I'll use them in conjunction with other workouts or send them back or what. Sagi's parts are like BB light. I don't know what I expected. The balance workout was very good. I need to get better balance and liked the way it went. I haven't done anymore since last week's Hammer Total Body. I'll let you know how the rest are. Cathe's are superior as far as fun and feeling the Doms. Of course, I'm not doing a whole lot of heavy lifting. H&C are low impact metabolic. At some point that might be just what I need!

Glad you are back in the USA safe and sound, Diana!

Beth

Beth and Diana, I have ICE too but I really want to finish this rotation before starting it. I think I'll do the ICE Xtrain rotation. I have done XTrain in a while. But I might take a week off from rotations to do "whatever" workouts, like PRS, X10, half imax, half BM2, some of the leg ones I have. I am totally in love with 40 min or less workouts, today was 41 and it was good and hard. I looked at some of the ICE rotations and they are long workouts! I just don't have the motivation let alone the time. But I did notice that every ICE workout has timesaver premixes, I will likely do those.

Beth- are the H&C workouts hard?

Hi ladies,

I'm happy to say that MESO 2 is now complete! I did BR day 8 and STS disc 24. I will pick up with Meso 3 probably on the 26th or 27th. It's not necessary to take a week off since I had a week off between weeks 3 and 4 of meso 2. Tomorrow will probably be the next BR w/o. Ice and Xtrain looks like a good rotation to start with after STS.

Between working, I've been able to make 2 pumpkin pies, 1 apple pies, peanut brittle, and 4 dozen cookies. Tonight I'll be making peanut clusters and buckeyes. I'm off tomorrow and will be wrapping the day away. We will be hosting my side of the family tomorrow night, tons of nieces and nephews and their families. It's a really fun time. My sister and I just finished the menu yesterday and I was able to get everything I needed.

DS2 put up the tree yesterday, it's not decorated and I don't have time to decorate it. It has sparkly white lights so that will have to suffice this year. :)

Beth-glad you were able to get in a workout after such a long day. I'm still unable to do any impact, jumping etc...it's so annoying. I'm not sure where to start with ICE. Will you be doing one of the ICE rotations? Your roast will take probably at least 2 hours, it's based on how many pounds it is. It's one of those where you cook it a high temperature for a bit, then (without opening the oven, you lower the temperature and continue cooking. Then when you take it out, it needs to rest for about 15-20 minutes. We have prime rib for Christmas dinner every year at my MIL's.

LL-I'm going to join you on the ICE/Xtrain rotation. I may have to sub out some of the cardio and just do what I can do! Absolutely, mix it up and do what you enjoy! Even when following a rotation, sometimes I sub for the same type w/o but not what's on the rotation.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was great. We managed a 59.4 mile bike ride today with our neighbor. My year to date mileage on my Garmin is 3899.3, so close. I should have taken an extra loop around the neighborhood to roll it over. I hope to get out one more time before the end of the year, but snow is on the way, so it may not happen. So far I've only tried two Ice workouts, LIS and MTB. I've done both ab workouts and really love them. I'm so excited to try BC next. DH and I finished the first week of Meso 3 last week. He really likes the slower pace of this portion of the workouts.

Beth, could you get your money back on H&C? I hope your prime rib came out ok. I hope your work schedule slows down soon.

Diana, nice job in finishing Meso 2. We're so close to being on the same week again. :)

Hi to LL.

Off to take my mom out for some stand up comedy and dinner. :)

Diana, congrats n completing meso 2!! Sounds like you made a ton of desserts! I may decide to do something different on that RWH CLB in two days, because I just did that today. When do you think you will start the ICE/XTrain rotation?

Tina! Wow! I love hearing about your rides, they are amazing. Well, while you are about to get snow, we are getting record warm temps hear outside Philly! 60s and 70s! But cloudy and rainy. How was stand up comic? I've only seen Tim Hawkins and he was hilarious!

Today was RWH CLB w/ abs mixed in, after two days off. The next 2 are RWH CUB and RWH CLB again. I may sub out the CLB for something else just for variety, but what, I don't know. I have two weeks left of the rotation.

Hi all!

Merry Christmas to you and your families! We had a lovely day-and even after getting up at 3:30 for work on Christmas, I still managed to get CCC in before we had a houseful at 4P. I love how that workout is short, intense, and has abs mixed in. I've done some of the ICE series-yesterday was Cardio 2 from the Low Impact Cardio. It was 18 minutes of high intensity low impact. To me it felt higher than intermediate. It was great fun regardless. I also did the muscle melt for back using almost the same weights as Cathe. One arm pullovers I only used 10 lb. My shoulder seems completely healed now.:)

Tina, I don't know if I'll send back H&C. Knowing me, I'd start to miss it if I didn't have it! It has a lot of weights involved and since I need weights (see Cathe's blog this week), I'll probably just keep the set and work them in. I think one of my issues is that I don't really know the workouts yet enough to distinguish them from each other. I hope you get a ride in before next year to break the 4,000 mile mark! You've got a few days left, maybe one will be ok to ride. How was the comedian?

Beth

Merry Christmas to you all as well!

Beth- I will have to check out her blog, I've been so busy this week I haven't checked out her newsletter yet.

Hi Ladies,

It sounds like we all had a wonderful holiday!

So happy the stress of Christmas is behind me. This is my favorite holiday, being so short on time was quite stressful. I hosted Christmas Eve for my side of the family and it's so nice to see my brother and sister and all my nieces and nephews and their families too! DS1 spent the night Christmas Eve which was really nice. We do our own family Christmas in the morning. We only had a few things for the boys, but gave them all money which they really appreciated as well as their new tires.

As far as ICE, I've done Low Impact Sweat but had to modify a lot of it. I only used the platform (no risers) and their were still some moves I had to do on the floor. I've also done both ab workouts and really like them. My gym is offering several programs at the start of the new year. They include a weightloss plan, a body composition plan, an ab program and then an extra offering where you can have professional before/after pictures, hair/makeup etc. I'm thinking about doing the body composition and abs. I have a few days to decide.

Tina-Sounds like you had a great ride! We have snow and single digit and teens temps. I need to try riding and see if that bothers my knee at all. I don't think it would but I'm not sure, my concern is really with clipping out. Turning my foot out to clip out may or may not work. How is your new pet sitting business coming along?

LL-It will be a few weeks before I'm ready to start ICE/Xtrain. I want to finish meso 3 before moving on. Did the kids have a wonderful Christmas? Is little B of the no dairy and gluten diet? That's really tough with a Holiday thrown in the middle of your diet plan.

Beth-how did the prime rib turn out? Wow, you had a very long day and still fit in a w/o...Great Job!!! I have a hard time sending w/o's too. It's nice to have variety. My niece just finished up her 2 required pre-req's needed for nursing school. She has her Bachelor's in Health Care Management and has applied to 2 nursing schools. She's been working in a hospital for 4 years and really loves it. The last 3 years she's been working in surgery recovery. She also has been able to sit in on several surgeries (observing). She already works the 12 hour shifts and says she doesn't mind since the time flies by.

I'm heading down to start Meso 3 and cardio of choice. My cardio is so limited, but I can do the BR w/o's since it's high knees for cardio and that doesn't hurt me knee.

bbl

Well, the prime rib turned out ok. It was pink in the middle and reminded me of roast beef. It was not as tender as it probably is meant to be, but at least it was cooked and edible! We had the juice on top to warm it up. Since I'm not a big meat eater it really didn't matter. My mom and dad really liked it since the last time they had it it was so rare. I'm trying to figure out what workout to do today! My back has good DOMS from yesterday. I'll let you know later!

Diana, it's good your niece is getting a good taste of work to come!

Beth

Beth- B went to the doc on Christmas Eve and we really aren't any further along than we were before. The things we need to do: 1-get a stool sample, possibly parasite giardia, after the holidays, 2- go back to DF/GF for 4 weeks! We didn't do it perfectly...3- get in to see the ENT because of possible sleep apnea, may not be related to belly aches though, 4- have him drink more water, but not around meals, 5- take melissageist 3x day, homeopathic remedy, but he doesn't like the taste of the drops,.

I went to my mom's for Christmas Eve, my sisters were there with their families, one has 2 boys close to my middle boys' ages and my other sister has a daughter who is 17 so closer to JTrain but she's kinda quiet. So that was really great to all be together. Christmas morning was just our family, at noon my mom came over to exchange gifts. Then for dinner we went to my dad's and Hubby's parents and brother and so were there, his wife was sick. So we had fun there too. Yesterday we were lazy and just hung out at home until late afternoon to run some errands, today will likely be the same.

I'm not sure if I'll get a wo in today, u jumped out of bed and ran into the shower thinking we might make it to church. But no...
