Damage Control April!!!

Boy, I have a lot to catch up on!

Diana-glad to hear your back is feeling better! I love butterscotch chips too! But I don't buy them because of the artificial ingredients. I haven't had chocolate other than my protein shake since last Sunday night! Your trip sound great even if it will be busy and have to work! I've never been to England or anywhere outside the country except for my honeymoon in Cancun and a yr later a trip to Aruba, thanks to the generosity of my aunt. I did a weekday hustle challenge on Fitbit with a friend the last two weeks and I thought I was going to beat her the first week because I was beating her all week. But on Friday she did over 22,000 steps! And won! This week I beat her by a lot but she was in the hospital with her dad and then he passed. Yes prepping is a huge help, but I'm already getting kinda bored with it and it hasn't even been 1 full week! I think I'm down 2 though!

Beth- yay that you are off for 8 days! Sounds like it went too fast. Please share your favorite meal from the book! I haven't don Mm or Drill Max in a long time, I just don't like DM that much and it's long, as is MM. At least MM has some good premixes. I love that RWH mix abs instead of finishers! I'm sorry your leg is hurting/injured! Hopefully it will heal up quickly and you will be able lift heavy again! I'm so with you on the finishers for RWH BBS vs CST! I can't do all those push-ups! But maybe I can now since I've been doing Boot Camp. I can do up to 14 push ups with good form on my toes now! I love the standing abs too! Nice work on staying away from processed food during vacation! That is hard!

So I have been doing well with workouts and food this week!
M-boot camp
T- Lower Body Blast (first time! Long and tough in places!) B got a fever on Tuesday. [emoji20]
W- Intensity - premix step and HiiT Lo because I didn't think I'd be able to get to boot camp, but was so boot camp too!
Th- tired and so only did Fitness Tabata from TTM. Little K and JTrain got the fever on Thursday.
F- fevers still here so no boot camp but I did Hardcore Extreme Interval Circuit, I haven't don this in a long time!! And it just about killed me! I had to stop after 40 min to make dinner but I went back to it!
Today I was able to get to Boot Camp this morning, (and a girl there decided to do 100 crunches. I joined her but didn't count, I tried my best to keep up with her) only because of the rain and CDawg's baseball game was cancelled and Hubby could stick around a little longer before he had to leave for Hershey for B's baseball tournament. He won his first game! Second is about to start. Little K is almost better; JTrain not so much. He's been on his laptop all day. No more fever but says his head hurts.

I haven't been able to get to the store to replenish my veggie supply because of the fevers. I hope to be able to go tomorrow.

Can't believe Prince is gone! I really loved a lot of his songs! I'm wearing purple.

Hi Ladies,

Today has been a busy day. DH was up early to help DS3 with his jeep. It failed emissions so they did a quick tune up on it. It failed again, but it does sound much better. I felt bad for DS3 since he worked from 2:30am and got home at 8am...then had to start working on jeep with his dad. DH is taking to the shop on Monday. We'll probably pay for an oil change and whatever the necessary repairs are.

I lazed around this morning and then did a 75min BR workout and was a sweaty mess. Then I had DH get the lawn mower going so I could trim and mow. DH had one of the kids fertilize the lawn last week before our 11" snow last weekend. It was long and shaggy...and looks much better now. Oh, and I have over 12K steps so far!

Tomorrow is the grafitti run, a 5k that I'm walking with my tri training partner. Neither of us can run, but still want to participate in these non-competitive activities. It will be nice to see her.

Beth-Oh no, I'm hope your quad soreness isn't anything serious. I have another ache/pain almost every day it seems. My knee has been sore as of late so I've gone back to wearing the brace at night. I think it's from the single leg hops on the step in RWH Plyo. All the BR w/o's incorporate some ab work. I think it's okay to do abs everyday. I think it's great that you have a yoga studio! Keep up the good yoga practice...perhaps I can be swayed. I know I need to do it, I'm just not motivated to do it. Yep, I will be walking a lot. Since I don't get a car, I walk to and from the office where I can. Only 1 place I'm going to for 2 days is not accessible by walking. The other locations, I can walk to and from work and all around on the weekends. Oh, I have 2 fitbits, the flex and the surge...and I just alternate between them. I wear one while one is charging and just switch them back and forth. The surge is more like a watch that displays the time and has features like number of stairs climbed. The flex is just a band that has lights to indicate the number of steps. They each have pros and cons, but I use them both equally. You are doing great with your diet. I still need to pick up the book.

LL-Yes, prep is key. I know it gets old, but if you do it often enough it will become habit. You are getting in some great workouts. I hope all the kids start feeling better. It's no fun being home with sick kids. I'm going to participate in my gyms next challenge: SunzOutGunzOut. All their challenges are $35 which make them much more attractive. We will have a private FB check in, meal plans, prizes for most weight lost, most bodyfat lost and most inches lost. I'm not happy that I will be traveling for part of the challenge, but will do the best I can.

Tina-where are you missy? Hope all is well.

Hi all,

LL, I feel your pain about Prince. So sad... You are getting in some great workouts! You and Diana have officially inspired me to get off my butt and start meal prepping. Friday I made a fruit compote with rhubarb, apples and cranberries. I got the rhubarb from the garden (last summer) and have had them and the cranberries in the freezer since Thanksgiving! I made this to have a little for desserts. Saturday I made hard boiled eggs and roasted two trays of potatoes. Today I'm making a pot of chili from the Whole30 cookbook and making a frittata with chopped veggies for lunch. I'm going to try to make two prep things on my days off. So thank you both for the inspiration!

Workout wise I did RWH BSB yesterday. I'm going to try Cardio Supersets today and stop if my leg starts hurting. It didn't hurt at all yesterday. The foam roller is really helping my hamstrings.

LL, are the boys over their fevers?

Diana, how was the graffiti walk? No trouble getting 10,000 steps! I'm looking at the fitbit surge-could use it at work since it has a watch with it.

BBL!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

I had a great time doing the graffiti walk with my tri training partner. We walked the whole way, as did many others too. Later that evening I did my normal walk and ended up with over 18K steps. Yesterday I had an early meeting which left only my lunch time to w/o. I did the next plyo legs w/o, but need to do C&B that I missed. The C&B w/o's in meso 3 have a serious dread factor for me. I just hate getting the heavy bar on and off the power tower to switch from C to B....and this is on top of being very long too. My weight is up a tad, but I expect it to go back down after STS.

No workout this morning since I have an ortho appt. I can really see the potential for my new smile! I'm going to ask my ortho if his initial 18-24 mos still stands. At lunch I'll be doing the next STS w/o-50 minutes...and I wrote HARD on my w/o sheet. Should be a goodie. Tonight I'm making a promise to myself to get the C&B w/o done.

For the colonoscopy on Friday, I've had to switch to a low fiber diet starting yesterday. For today and tomorrow I can only have skinless chicken, eggs, steamed fish, skinless potatoes. Thursday is a clear liquid diet and start the prep (clean out your colon) at 5pm. Not looking forward to that at all.

Off to the ortho-bbl later to see what everyone is up to!

I have a lot of catching up to do on everyone's posts. I haven't had time to get to the computer for the last week or so. We had a rainy ride with a flat tire on Saturday, a mechanical bike issue ride on Sunday. My bike is currently in the shop again and is going on Craigslist as soon as it is returned. DH is plotting out my next bike purchase, obsessively researching the internet for the fastest and lightest bike he can find. This week we started Meso 3 and I'm doing the Body Blast series this week for cardio. Coincidentally, there are many Prince songs on these workouts. Tonight we're supposed to do disc # 27 which is shoulders, bi's and tri's, but I'm nursing a forearm injury and don't know if I'll be able to complete it. Chest and back were okay to work on Monday, but it seems when I grasp anything, it triggers pain in the forearm. I think it's from all the tree trimming I did a week ago. Seems there's always something hurting in my body these days.

Diana, good luck this Friday. That diet sounds gross. I hope you make it through the prep without getting sick. I hear the new prep is much easier than the old. I can't believe you went for another walk after your 5K. It seems like I always feel a bit bulky during Meso 3. I have to keep telling myself its only temporary. I can't wait to get back to GS and XT workouts.

Beth, how is your quad feeling? Sounds like you had a relaxing vacation. What are you reading this month for BC? We're reading The Paris Architect by Charles Belfoure. I've yet to start it. Good luck with Whole30! :)

LL, your workout rotation looks great! :)

Hi Ladies,

I finally got to C&B this morning. Not sure if I will try SBT later today or do cardio instead. I'm not looking forward to Friday at all. I'm so hungry too. I did eat scrambled eggs with turkey for breakfast today. Obviously I will not be getting in a w/o on Friday, and am not sure about Saturday either.

I got good news from the ortho. He said I should be done in 15-16 mos instead of the original 18-24. If things keep moving like they should, I may be de-braced in October/November!!! Keeping my fingers crossed.

My new book arrived-Beyond Diet by Isabel De Los Rios. After I purchased it, I did some research and heard it's a knock off of Whole 30. I just started reading and so far it sounds good. I still need to pick up Whole 30.

Tina-I hope to finish Meso 3 before my trip. Oh no, hope your forearm feels better soon. I know the trials and tribulations of waking up with a new ache or pain every few days. I bet you are glad to be getting a new bike soon. Thankfully I know the weight gain is only temporary. Usually just muscles retaining water...and lactic acid.

LL-what are you up to?

bbl

Boot Camp yesterday, ICE Low impact Swear Blizzard Blast and Icy Core 2 yesterday. To it I'm taking the 3 younger boys to my Boot Camp class. I hope they behave!! I will allow them to be on devices...

Diana, the colonoscopy sounds delightful [emoji849]. Hope all is fine. I haven't had one yet.

Tina, figured you'd be biking!

Beth, yea boys are over fevers!

We are in crunch time, end of the year everything! And baseball/flag football season.

Hi all,

I went back to work Tues. Afterwards did Gym Style Chest and Tris. My quad feels good, now I've got to let my shoulder heal-maybe from all the pushups? I concur with waking up everyday to a new pain, ladies! Wed. was my rest day. Today I'm planning cardio-maybe one of the Imax's.

I got news about my bone density yesterday-I've lost 3% of bone in hip from last scan and 5% from spine. I knew I was getting shorter. Doctor said it wasn't enough of a loss to start medication for it-yet. I also had to go for further mammogram pictures and ultrasound of right breast and lymph nodes. I'm still waiting to hear the results of all that.

Diana, good luck tonight. Hopefully you'll be able to get some rest before tomorrow. The prep is far worse than the actual procedure. I'm really liking the Whole30 concept. Meal prepping for today is spaghetti squash and a double patch of salmon cakes. I have had limited sugar for a while now. I do still have some wine occasionally. It's all about balance, right!

LL, glad to hear the boys are better and get to watch you crush it at Boot Camp! What a great role model for them!

Tina, we're reading Fates and Furies for June-can't all meet in May. I haven't started it yet-don't want to forget too much before the meeting. How exciting to get a new bike!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

I did get in SBT at lunch, so that completed M3W3. Only one more week of STS to go. If I do w/o today, it will be the next BR w/o. Today is a liquid diet only day. My weight is back down, but I know it's from not eating enough this week for the procedure tomorrow. At 5pm I have to start drinking the laxative mixture, not looking forward to that. I have to drink 32oz of it between 5-6pm and the other 32oz tomorrow morning between 5-6am. My procedure is at 10:45 tomorrow. Other than the mixture, I can't have anything to eat or drink tomorrow until after the procedure. I'm already hungry. Sticking to liquids makes me hopeful the prep tonight won't be as bad as I'm anticipating.

LL-It's just a preventative test, luck me for turning 50. Great job with bootcamp! Did the boys behave??? I used to have to bring my kids to the basement with their gaming device, toys or whatever in order to get my workout in when they were little.

Beth-sorry to hear about the bone loss. Does that run in your family? I know weight lifting helps preserve bone density, but I don't know if it can prevent bone density loss as we age. I still need to get the whole 30 book. I may just order amazon so I can take it on my trip.

Waving Hi to Tina!

Hi Ladies,

I made it through the procedure just fine. DH brought me home and I slept about 3 hours. The prep is definitely worse than the procedure. During my prep I started reading Beyond Diet. I really like the approach so far. More about making smarter decisions when it comes to food. I think I'm going to order Whole 30 from Amazon today. In other news, my CU is merging with another CU and they are down for the conversion this weekend. I will have re-set up my bill pay payees next week. I need to make sure it is all taken care of before I leave for the UK.

The kids behaved at Boot Camp! I only needed to say something to them once or twice. It was a killer workout!!

Yesterday I didn't do a wo. Today Boot Camp was with 10# wts, but most of the girls were doing 5s. But I put down my wts for each 7 second rest. And I even quoted Cathe in one of them, "that's not a rest!" Because no one was putting down their weights for the rests! Six by six. Six exercises repeated six time. 1- squat, knees touch your elbows, then shoulder press.2-ski move similar to a swing with the weights in both hands.3- can't remember!!4- one wt both hands squat twist start below knee on one side and then end up other side over head 5-one wt discus throw twist move 6- seated legs up both wts mini shoulder presses.

I followed with 100 crunches, another girl there does it. And then did X10 Cardio Blast. That was super hard after today's wo!! I don't think I've ever done that!!

Tomorrow I will wo at home cleaning and haircuts in the morning; two baseball games and then a bday party. So I'm thinking about total body wts or at least upper body. So I could to STS Total Body, burn sets all upper body, LIS total body trisets, or 4Day Split I think there is a total body wts premix in there. I guess I could do MM but I hate all the changing of the barbell wts. I either get behind or miss some.

Beth- also sorry to hear about the bone loss. [emoji17]

Diana- how did the procedure go?

You are really building some good endurance, LL! That boot camp followed by X10-way to go!

Happy Saturday!
