Damage Control April!!!

Yesterday was a chilly bike ride. This morning was CK and STS W&P abs. Tonight will be STS disc 19, which is 70 min. long! Thankfully we have the new barbell, so we won't have to share/squabble over it.

Diana, the bar we purchased is the padded straight bar. It's about two feet longer than our Firm padded bar, but weighs much less. If I had to guess, I'd say it weighs maybe five pounds tops. We'll put it on the scale tonight. I love the brightly colored plates. I'm thinking about spray painting all of the cast iron plates and dumbbells and color coat them according to weight. How was your 5K? Were you able to run some of it? I hope your knee is feeling okay today. I'm so envious of your DS's car! I hope he lets you take it sometimes. Our DS has a nice convertible, but he wouldn't let any of us ever drive it.

Beth, my neighbor is doing Whole 30 right now, which the last thing she needs to do is to lose weight. It seems so strict! Hats off to you if you're able to do it! Let us know how it works out. Your rotation sounds excellent!

Hi to LL. :)

Hi ladies,

I ended up sleeping in and not running on Sunday. I did set my alarm...or so I thought. When I got up, I checked my alarm to see what happened...well I had it set for Saturday and not Sunday. I probably could've made it if I rushed. Oh well. I ended up lazing most of the day away and going to my sisters for a bit.

Yesterday I did BR day 11 and STS disc 22-CST. This morning I had an ortho apt so I didn't get to w/o. Hopefully I can do the next sts disc-legs, this afternoon.

I'm on to de-cluttering/organizing the basement and garage. Our basement is pretty empty, but does have some storage items that can go to the Salvation Army. I'm also going to box up some books from the bookcase. I have about 10 partially used paint cans that I can return to a nearby paint store.

LL-DWP is the double wave pyramid w/o from Cathe's HIIT disc.

Tina-We are really close on the STS disc. I'm not sure I will take the recommended week off between meso 2 and 3. If I do, I don't think I will be able to finish meso 3 before my trip. I'm still waiting for approval from the UK program manager for my trip. Let me know how you like the bar. I would like 45lb Olympic bar, but only 5ft.

Beth-I'm game for doing whole 30 in June. It's so different from the 21 day challenge that I do. I think whole 30 is closer to my normal eating habits anyway. Your new rotation looks good. I much prefer heavier lifting over things like high reps, power hour etc. Not that they aren't good, I just don't enjoy them.

bbl

RWH LIHI legs strength only today.

Beth- your rotation sounds great! I like loose rotations like that. Then I don't feel locked in. I use DVDs so I didn't use the blender, but wish I could have!! We got about a dusting of snow over the weekend. B has sleep apnea and is going back to the ENT next week.

Ok so I never finished sending this yesterday. I just finished Boot Camp and am being tested for the challenge. My weight is up 6# from last time[emoji35][emoji29]

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday I ended up just walking at lunch. DS3 had just picked up a new game and started playing it in the basement. Today I did CCC in the am and STS disc 23-legs at lunch. Tonight I have a microderm/facial and massage scheduled. :)

Hi ladies,

I did LIHI Legs on Tuesday after work. DOMS set in last night just before I went to bed! I was too tired yesterday to do any workout. I'm off today though and plan on a double-LIHI BSB and a good walk with the vest. It's getting warmer here and bike weather is soon! Tina, you'd probably go today-it's a high of 55 here! It's still a little too cool for us. Sun. will be in the low 70's and I know DH will go then. I'm off on vacation all next week so will go from Monday on when the weather permits.

Diana, June 1 sounds like a good start date. As usual, breakfast looks like the hardest for me to figure out. I've been doing some hard boiled eggs lately and will probably do those and fruit for breakfast. Lunch and dinner proteins and salads. The nice thing about this Whole30 is you can have coffee and all clean items. I've never done a dairy free program so should be interesting. Also, you can have almonds/almond butter just not peanut (a legume). I think I'll be able to do it for a month. There are no holidays in June which helps! Too bad about the 5K, but there are plenty more coming up in your area, I'm sure!

Hi Ladies,

I managed to tweak my lower back putting clothes dryer. This has happened numerous times and I think it's because the dryer door opens the wrong way. When I got the dryer, I asked DS1 to switch the door so it opened the other way. He never did. DH who rarely/never does laundry, also found it very annoying when I was in the UK and he had to do laundry. He said if my trip is a go, he's changing the doors. Why not just change them anyway???

This morning I did BR Day 10, a quick 30 minute workout. I have the last disc of meso 2 to do today-back and biceps. I'll have to leave out bent over rows and deadlifts. I can do all the pullups, one arm rows and overhead extensions.

Our weather has been beautiful this week-60's and sunny. We are supposed to get 5"-7" inches of snow this weekend. I had been looking forward to mowing the lawn, but that won't be happening.

Beth-I briefly looked at the whole 30 site yesterday. I'm going to order the book and plan out some recipes. Do they provide a meal guide? I do better when I've planned, prepared, and prepped. I don't have any problems going without dairy. Although there is dairy in my protein powder. I thought cheese would be the hardest to give up, but it wasn't. I haven't had milk in years.

LL-is this the start of the challenge? How long is the challenge?

Tina-what are you up to?

bbl

Hi all!

Diana- the challenge starts Monday. I am up to 185 so hopefully I can lose a lot! I did 14 push-ups in 30 seconds, 7 squat jumps (had to touch the box on the way down) also in 30 seconds and 11 burpees in 30 seconds.

Yesterday I did RWH LIHI chest, triceps, shoulders no finishers. Today was Boot Camp, focusing on strength, so when I got home I did X10 low impact, no warm up or cool down. And RWH LIHI back and biceps. Tomorrow I'll be at Boot Camp and something else. Maybe LIHI legs or Suoercuts because it has been calling my name lately...it depends what tomorrow looks like.

I was able to go to my WW meeting on Wednesday because they had an open house and it was free but I couldn't weigh in. My beg take away from that meeting were: don't eat after dinner (chocolate chips???), more sleep (I've been saying this for years) and to write down my trigger foods and then see if I need to cut those out temporarily.

Beth- we've been having sunny and 55-65 weather all week! We ended up going to a local zoo on Wednesday. It was very small but fun short trip. I got free passes from our library. The Philly Zoo is way better but I need a full day and lots of energy for it. Wish I could get outside more to exercise, as a second workout. I met a grandad tonight at CDawg's flag football game who play volleyball and has for 31 years!! But I don't know how I'd fit it in!

So I'm in full planning mode for next year. And of course B is driving me crazy with not focusing on his school work daily! And I am again thinking about putting him in the two day co op. But I've signed CDawg and JTrain up for writing classes and computer programming classes online.

Hi Tina!

Hi all,

LL, I'm on a bit of a RWH kick myself, lately. Thursday was BSB and Fri. I did the Lower Body HiiT circuit. Shorter and really intense! I'm hoping work goes well today and I can do CST before we go play cards at 6 tonight.

Beth

We finished Meso 2, week 3 this week. For cardio, I did old Cathe's; CK, Imax 1, RS, CTX S&I, and CTX PS. It a relief to know I do still have an operating memory. Sometimes I worry that it's starting to slip, "what did I come into this room for"? Today is a rest day and tomorrow is hopefully a really long bike ride. The weather looks fantastic for tomorrow, so hopefully we can get some much need yard work started.

Diana, how is your back doing? Our washer and dryer are stacked and the doors open in the opposite direction to each other, it's such a pain! I can see how all that twisting would tweak your back. Ugh, sorry to hear that snow is in your future. Disc 19 just about did my triceps in for the entire week. Even on Wednesday it hurt to extend my arms. Looks like this week is much shorter STS workouts. :)

Beth, have a wonderful vacation! Do you have something special planned this week?

LL, I'm really thinking about starting WW. DS really needs to lose weight and I need to rein my eating in. You should be proud of yourself for all the planning you do between working out, eating plans, and homeschooling. I don't know how you do it all!

Off to work. I'm thinking about leaving this job. A few weeks ago, while I was in the building alone at night, there was a guy standing in one of the rooms in the dark. He does odd jobs for the school, like shoveling (no snow on the ground this night). I don't think he knew I could see him standing stock still. I finally loudly said "hello, how are you"? and he gave a quick "hi" back. Every hackle in my body when up and I quickly moved away. I grabbed a staple remover pen, which has a sharp end and put it in my back pocket and rushed through to finish up. My boss's response was to put an email out to everyone that I'm nervous at night now and that they must report to me as soon as they come in. Nope! Nope! Nope! I'm not nervous of people coming in, I'm horrified by someone lurking in the dark. What do you all think? So this guy still has a key, and somehow I now look paranoid. I now light the place up like a Christmas tree when it gets dark.

Hi Ladies,

I finished Meso 2 on Thursday and yesterday ended up being an unplanned rest day. My back is really hurting today. UGH, getting old stinks. I thought I would try a cardio w/o, but just the warm up was hurting my back. I ended up doing a cardio coach w/o on my elliptical. I finished the w/o and did some extra time including 30 second sprints/30 sec rest. In total I spent 75 minutes on the elliptical....and am well on my way to getting my 10K steps today! I'm going to try icing my back today and see if that helps it heal up any faster. Sitting hurts, but walking or laying certain ways does not.

I clicked on some ad and ended up purchasing something call beyond diet. oy I've been reading the meal plans and they look very good, even whole 30 friendly. I have been eating way too much junk and need to put a stop to it. Can't complain about the scale going up when I know it's simply from all the junk I've been eating.

LL-In this beyond the diet, they talk about eliminating non nutritional carbs (for the short term) if weight loss is your goal. It also says something like the weight loss equation is 80% food, and 20% exercise. Will you be following the challenge's nutrition plan? You will do great! Go in with the right mind set. Glad to hear you are enjoying RWH! Keep it up!

Beth-Do you have any plans for vacation? To be honest, I'm not really looking forward to Meso 3. The UB workouts are long and it's just so difficult getting the bar on and off the power tower on the C&B disc. I love the plyo leg w/o's and the other UB w/o, although it is long too.

Tina-what a creep, I would be afraid too. Keep some pepper spray or mace on you. You shouldn't have to worry about a creeper when you are at work. Would you and DS do WW together? You are such a great role model. I wish I could get my son to eat better. I'm just so sick of hearing that healthy food doesn't take good.

Enjoy the weekend! We will be inside watching the snow accumulate.

bbl

Tina- I love rhythmic step! That was one of the first DVDs I bought of hers. But since there are no premixes, I don't really do it anymore. I don't have the other older ones that you mention. I don't really do WW, it I really like the support of the classes. I don't do it all, I fail at much of what I'd like to do. Everything I do sacrifices something else I could be doing...so creepy about that guy at your work!! I hope it all works out!!

Diana- yes, I'm going to try to do the meal plan. But I'm scared! I made a ton of food today: 16 chicken thighs, 2 heads of broccoli, 1 head of cauliflower, 1 bunch of asparagus, 3 red peppers, 2 sweet potatoes and brown rice. So I'm hoping it will help.

Hi Beth!

Today was Boot Vamp but it was all upper body and core except some squats and burpees. So when I got home I did Tabatacise 1-3.

Busy day starting with Boot Camp that was mostly upper body and core so when I got home I did Tabatacise 1-3 and then a ton of food plan food prep. Then to a friend's pool party to a baseball game. Then I made banana bread, chocolate chip banana bars (to freeze for next weekend and chocolate chip cookies for tonight!

Hi Ladies,

My back is feeling a bit better today. This morning I did BR Day 15 (75 minutes!), then disc 25 C&B. I only did 3 of the 4 sets of rows and subbed hip lifts for the deadlifts. I'm not risking hurting my back further. I guess I'll go out and shovel a bit and then head to the grocery store.

LL
-You are on the right track with prepping your food for the week. I'm sure you've heard the saying "Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail. Planning and prep are critical to your success. Now that I work from home, prepping isn't an issue for me. When I was working outside the home, I always spent a couple hours prepping food for the work week so I would have grab and go lunches and my protein shakes prepped for the blender. By the way, I had to stop buying chocolate chips because I cannot stay out of them. I feel your pain. As a matter of fact, I was out of my dark chocolate and ate an entire bag of butterscotch chips the other. Trust me, I know how difficult it is. I do fine as long as I have my individually wrapped dark chocolate. When that is gone, all bets are off.

Hi Beth and Tina!

Hi all!

I'm officially off for 8 days! I have more planned than I'd like, though. We have to go to Penn State Tues. for a quick trip. Wed. is my mammogram and bone density scan. Thurs. we're going to the FingerLakes for a little 1 night getaway and then soccer is on all week! It just worked out that there was so much soccer on this week, I had no idea! DH rode his old bike today. Tomorrow I hope we can both go. When I'm off I'm just going to do biking, yoga, and weights when I feel like it. I've been doing weights after work the past week and it's been good. Yesterday was LIHI CST and today was Pure Strength Legs and Abs. I'll do cardio and metabolic and longer workouts until I go back to work next week.

Diana, I ended up buying the book too and DH has said he'll do it with me for lunch and dinner-when I'm home. He doesn't think he can give up his cereal. I really like that it has fruit in the plan. That should help a lot for breakfast and snacks for me. I'm glad your back is feeling better. My quadricep has been like quivering around my knee...it's weird. I thought of you and your quad injury. I hope I haven't overdone something. That was a long time on the elliptical. You have better endurance than me on it. I could only do about 15 minutes before getting wiped out! Have you dug out yet? At least you don't have to drive to work in it!

LL, your prepping is really a good idea. I printed out a list of all the proteins, veggies, fruits, and fats on the eating plan for June and am going to try some recipes before hand to maybe freeze after I get the book. Before that though I printed out a recipe for black bean burgers I want to make this week. We're going to use lettuce instead of bun.

Tina, what a creepy experience at work. Yikes! I agree with Diana, get some pepper spray for your keychain. I think you handled in better than your boss by acknowledging him and moving on. I finished my book club book, The Orchardist. I don't think I recommend it. Maybe I'll get more out of it when we discuss it next week. I started another David Mitchell and am off right now to read a bit before bed!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday was plyo legs in the morning and ICE bootcamp in the afternoon. I haven't done much ICE or RWH. I'm going to try to add in those 2 series so I can familiarize myself with the w/o's. I'm also thinking of adding Insanity to the mix for cardio. I missing Shaun T.! Of course I may feel differently once I start that first Insanity w/o. Today I did Plyo Hiit ...the one the step. I did modify and only used 1 riser. At lunch I did the disc 27-CSB-my favorite w/o in meso 3 I think.

What's everyone else up to?

bbl

Hi all,

Got a great bike ride in on Monday. Tuesday ended up being a rest day. We got to see DS2 for a bit. Today I'm planning on a total body-thinking of MM right now.

Glad to see you're feeling up to Insanity, Diana! I got the book yesterday and like the day by day insight into the program.

Hi Tina and LL!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday I did BM2 Cardio Blast premix. Today will be the next BR w/o and the next sts disc-C&B. It sounds like I may only be going to the UK for 2 weeks. 1 week in one location and one week in the second location. Still leaving on the 7th and returning on the 20th.

Beth-it sounds like you are enjoying your vacation. You mentioned your quad quivering around your knee area. Prior to my injury, and again now, it is like the outerside of my quad near my knee "rolls" occasionally and you can actually see it when that happens. It's not painful though. Well I thought I ordered the book, but it's sitting my amazon cart. I may just pick it up at Target later.

Hi Tina and LL!

bbl

Hi all,

Yesterday I did end up doing MM. Today I did Drill Max's premix Ultra Cardio Blast-you basically do all the cardio 2x through. I do it one time as is and then do it on the left side the second time through. It keeps me focused on the workout more that way.

Diana, you are getting great long workouts in. Any 5k's coming up? It's been nice being home this week and working out in the mornings when I have more energy!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

Today I did Plyo Legs and CST. Tomorrow is a long cardio w/o and Sunday will be a 5k (walking) and maybe the next STS disc.

I'm not going to have much time for site seeing this time around. I was hoping to have the weekend to spend at my first location since I haven't been there before. It's on the southern coast of England and has all kinds of cool places to see. It sounds like I will be there M-W, then 3 hours north in another city for Thurs/Friday. Saturday-Thurs will be a 3rd location-the same place I was last time that I really like. Friday I fly home.

Beth-I'm getting in double workouts, but one in the morning before work and the other over my lunch hour. If I don't have my steps in, then I try to walk in the evening to reach my 10K steps. Enjoy your break from work!

Hi LL and Tina!

bbl

Hi all,

We're back from our getaway which was great!!! After we got back yesterday we took a bike ride. Today was RWH CST with abs instead of finishers premix. My triceps were like jello by the end. It looks like I need to give my right leg a good rest. Driving hurt my quad after about an hour. Then during the bike ride it started hurting, too. My hamstring is pretty tight so I've been doing the foam roller on it. I hope it heals! I may never lift heavy again. I've got the upper body good, and now my lower body is injured. You would think I would learn by now. I've turned DS2's room into my yoga place. It has a heater in it and a mirror. I just leave my mat there and have been getting some decent 15 minute practices in before bed.

Diana, your next trip sounds really busy. Are you planning on doing a lot of walking there? What type of tracker do you have? It sounds really motivating.

What is everyone else up to this weekend? Tomorrow I plan on RWH BBS. I don't mind the finishers in that one as much-probably because of the push ups! Did you see where Arnold Schwarteneger said to do abs every day. What do you think? Beast does a little abs every day, too. Something to consider. It was nice doing some standing abs today. The plank/jack at the end was ugly though because my arms were so tired!

I'm off to make chicken with mushrooms for dinner. I've been staying away from all processed during this vacation and am feeling good!

Beth
