Damage Control April!!

Diana-nice work on the STS! Do you own them all or have Cathe On Demand? I wonder how you calorie count is figured out. I 5'9", I just go by various calculators I find online, Beach Body calculators, WW points and Lose It app. I was doing pretty well today until the ice cream came out and the kids asked me to make my famous chocolate sauce! b had minor oral surgery this morning so with his sore gums ( they needed to be cut above is top two front teeth so the space between the teeth would hopefully go away.) ice cream on sore gums sounded like a good idea. Then I had extra unmeasured chocolate chips after. :(. I don't know how many grams of protein I had but I had 2 eggs for breakfast, 3 oz chicken thigh for lunch, 3 oz 93% ground beef in tomato sauce and 3 oz chicken leg, left over night. I have no idea how much protein that is. I put some of it in Lose It! Up thru lunch and my fat protein carb ratio was high in fat. But I'm not sure how many grams.

Today I did RWH LIHI Legs Premix strength only 30 min. I plan on cardio tomorrow, part of me is thinking HiiT, but then I watched the hits DVD and am thinking about IMAX 2. :) who knows what I'll have time for tomorrow. I won't get home from co op until after 3 and I have the last cotillion with JTrain tomorrow night. Dance! It should be fun. Ugh I jut realized we will probably get something to eat afterwards. And I don't need dessert again! And I have to prep for my class on Thursday. Shoot! How am I going to get a wo in?? Maybe I'll take something to my mom's and do it there. I will be be hanging out there from 12:30-2:30 waiting until CDawg and JTrain's classes are finished. But I will need to get B going on schoolwork since he missed today...

DH is at eight weeks post surgery, so he's almost back to his original workout schedule. I joined him last night for MM lower body premix (which is only 23 min.) and STS pilates abs, which his surgeon said was okay. She did warn him off of doing crunches forever, which bums me out. We'll have to change up our abs workouts that we used to do after our long bike rides. Today will be the last disc for STS week three. This is the hardest week, so I'm looking forward to having it behind me. :)

Diana, 57.5 for biceps?? Yikes!! The most I've ever done is 52.5 and that was ugly. I'm going to try it this morning, but if I have to sway to get it up there, I'm going back to 50. I looked at my last round and I did 50 for all three body parts for the first section of disc 33. Sorry to hear about your car. Someone hit my car while it was parked at the bus stop when we were on vacation, so I was without my car for the past two days while it was getting fixed. I hope your estimate isn't too shocking. Sound like you'll have great weather for your run this weekend. :)

Beth, happy to hear you and DH are getting out for some bike rides! I hope the mild weather continues. Do you add your miles to the Workout Manager? I've been thinking about doing PH soon. I just purchased STS TB and was thinking I'd do a week of PH, MM, and STS TB with cardio in between them.

LL, I hope your little one is feeling ok this morning. Hope you're able to get your workout in today. :)

Hi ladies,

DS2 and I left the house at 5:50 this morning. Obviously no workout for me....and I'm not sure if I will get one in tonight. I went to my tri-training class last night and it has been cancelled. I'm very disappointed about this. I emailed the director to find out what my other options are. There is a Saturday morning class at 7am. I prefer the 2 nights per week. We'll see what the director comes back with. While I was there, I ran in the open space next to the rec ctr to make sure I got in my 10K steps.

LL-Nice job with RWH!!! can't recall how the gym came up with my calorie number. I have the calculation somewhere so I'll see if I can find it. I know for weight loss, the gyms program recommends 40% protein/40% fat/20%carbs. Of course my calorie range is for losing weight. I meet the protein goal but am usually over on the carb and under on the fat. I really just focus on staying in my calore range and getting in my protein. I own the STS series along with 99% of all Cathe's series.

Tina-I too am looking forward to finishing STS!! I'm waiting for DH to text me the damage. Can your DH do planks instead of crunches? There are several varieties for planks that may work well for him. STS TB is an awesome w/o! I guess if I only have tri training once a week I will definitely have time for weights.

I brought IMAX 2 and X10, step and discs to my moms and had planned to do X10 step, low impact and fat burning premix for 54 min, but I was dying after the step! I did the low impact but skipped to the stretch after that. I just had to be done. I don't have KPC or Rock Out Knock Out. I thought about low impact from XTrain, but I didn't want to take one more thing! My parents have some light dumbbells so I used a 12 when Cathe used a 15 and used 8s. Not sure what I'll do tomorrow, maybe HiiT maybe upper body

To it is the last cotillion for JTrain and I get to dress up and go with him to dance! Should be fun!

Yesterday was M3D33 and XT Step. I started with a 52.5 lb barbell, but had to back down to 50 lbs for biceps. I just can't pull 52.5 without swinging backwards a little. I know I'm at 90 percent when I start laughing while lifting. Today was KPC and the barre work from LLB. It's snowing again today, so it will be a slushy walk this afternoon.

Diana, I hope you were able to get a workout in today. I find I get very anxious when I can't workout at some point during the day. Did they not have enough interest in the tri class? I hope you find a class that will work for your schedule. Maybe you can find another racer to train with?

BBL to check in on everyone. :)

Hi Ladies,

I'm car-less again today. I'm working from home so DS2 took my car today. Hope we get an estimate today.

This morning I did Step Blast and plan on doing disc 33 tonight. It's the dreaded C&B w/o that takes forever and is so difficult getting the bar on and off the power tower. Happy this is the last C&B w/o.

LL-I find X10 very challenging, each section is hard. Great job! Enjoy the cotillion with Jtrain!

Tina-Yay, only 2 discs to go to finish up STS! Booh for snow, I'm over it. We are supposed to get rain today. I'm sure they had enough interest for the tri class. I think there was a conflict and the instructor wasn't available. Saturday mornings at 7am is not ideal for me, but I can make it work if I have too. I much preferred the T/Th class as I got more time in the pool (which I need).

Hi all,

No workout for me today...got called in to work at 2:45 AM. Yesterday I did an Intensity premix-step and High Impact HiiT. It clocked in around 46 minutes-perfect for after work. Tuesday I did Power Hour.

LL, I can't believe all the equipment you took with you! What a committment! Cathe would be proud for sure! You really have to have good energy for X10. I find I do that one after a day off...so maybe tomorrow for me!

Diana, glad you're on the last Chest/Back disc. I'd need a spotter if I lifted as heavy as you and Tina! Your tri training will hopefully fall into a routine as the weather cooperates more. Isn't it fun when the car is in the shop! At least you got to work at home.

Tina, too bad it's slushy. Hang in there! Good job with biceps! I'm lucky to use a 25 lb barbell! I'm hoping we can bike this Sunday. Any good weather in your future? I hope so.

Beth

TGIF Ladies!!!

This morning was disc 35-Plyo Legs! Only one more disc to go. I will try to get to it this weekend. So it sounds like my only tri- training option is Saturday mornings from 7-8:30. I'm going to check it out tomorrow morning and see what I think.

Tomorrow is packet pickup for my 5K on Sunday. The temp should be in the 60's for the race, but windy. I hate running in the wind. Last year we had pelting ice/snow for this race, what's a little wind-right! Hopefully I can get in the last STS disc on Sunday.

Beth-wow, not a very friendly wake up call. I haven't done that Intensity premix forever. We are only doing 8 reps in the last week, so it's not too bad. Power Hour is tough for me. I prefer lifting heavier and for less reps. When I do endurance based weights it's always very challenging....and my biceps are so weak!

bbl to see what everyone else is up to.

Beth, commitment for 1 day! Wish I could be more consistent with it tho!

No wo yesterday or the day before. Today I got up early and did RWH Circuit upper body, premix timesaver 34 min.

Not sure about tomorrow maybe HiiT not sure. I wasn't use what to do this morning, I've been feeling lethargic, but I'm really glad I did that one as it went quickly and was fun. When it ended, I was wishing I had had the time for the whole thing. I always feel a bit like I have "copped out" when I do a premix that is shorter than the orig. wo. Although I haven't down a full blown upper body wts wo in a while, maybe that is what I need.

Food intake has been ok. Weight is steady at 171 :(. Not where is should be, I'm 5'9" and my "range" is 132-169. I feel pretty good at 160 and really good at 150, 145 is a pipe dream with the way I like to eat! Today has been pretty good:

Breakfast- post wo shake: 1c cashew milk, 1t peanut butter, 1T ground flax seeds, 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 bag frozen strawberries, 1 scoop chocolate greens and 1 scoop chocolate protein powder.
Snack: berries
Lunch: salad: romaine, cukes, peppers, artichoke hearts, cooked broc/caulif, 2.5 oz BBQ chicken with 2t each olive oil and raspberry balsamic. Yummy!!
Snack: banana, brown rice cake with peanut butter, raspberries and dark chocolate chips, not bad but I wanted more so I had 8 milk chocolate eggs!
Dinner will be: green salad with Caesar dressing, Manco and Manco pizza (friend brought up 2 half baked ones) and whatever dessert I decide to make: brownies in pantry or I have some over ripe bananas, i could make chocolate chop banana bars. :)

The dance was fun! My fave dances were a Mexican dance and Tango!

Hi! I haven't checked in, but I'm not off the rails. I'm doing short workouts....I find they vary, but I think I'm working out enough to make a difference. My back gets sore when I do too much....such as vacuuming, cleaning...I thought I should do supermans, I was wondering if you have any suggestions for that as well.

No date on the surgery yet. I have a 'camera down the throat' procedure on Wednesday. I would not be surprised if they wind up removing my gall bladder. It is so unhealthy to be this heavy.

Everyone having a good weekend? Getting outside? Sat. I cleaned and did Muscle Max. Today is a great day for a bike ride!

Beth

Beautiful here in Philly 'burbs! Outside some, and it funny you did MM yesterday, I'm thinking about that today!

The weather :) :) :) :) !! We managed to do 78 miles this weekend. I am pleasantly exhausted. Friday was AT and S&G cardio premix. I'm excited to be finishing STS this week. After my rest week, I'm going to start out with a week of S&H, which I haven't done in years.

Missy, nice to hear from you. If your back is sore, when you do supermans, you should avoid the double arm and leg version. The one arm-opposite leg version is much easier on your spine. Good luck with your test on Wednesday. Can they do both operations at the same time? We'll be here to support you through the recovery phase. :)

Beth, I'm jealous of your spring cleaning marathon. I need to do windows inside and out and scrub some screens this week. I have the windows cracked today and every cat in the house is trying to squeeze out. I saw the perfect t-shirt for you and me, it says "I was normal three cats ago". ;)

Diana, I hope your race went well! :) Are you finished with STS now?

LL, your meal plan from yesterday sounds great.

Did anyone see the article about what the actor The Rock eats everyday. His calorie intake for a typical day is over 5000 calories, but super clean, lots of egg whites.

So I did MM in its entirety today! That is tough! My shoulders are already killing me! I think I'll need to do something short tomorrow like one of the RWH HiiT, Tuesday will probably be off since we are headed to the Crayola Factory! I got discounted tix on our FB yard sale page. I also bought a nice desk and bookcase from the sale page that happened to be from a neighbor who is moving to TX, and I tore out the school room this weekend but they are too big and don't fit!!! I'm so bummed! I will probably try to sell it on the page again for the same amount. Now it's 8:30 Sunday and my school room is in pieces in my dining room. I normally do this in August getting ready for the new school year, but now towards the end! It's a disaster!!

Tina- 78 miles!! Wow!! Amazing! What is S & H? It was good until the evening when my brownie turned into a brownie sundae!! Today my intake is similar: eggs and chicken sausage for breakfast, 4 mini cin. Rolls at church, lunch was my post wo shake, snack: peanut butter on a banana and peanut butter on butter! Yikes! Dinner: burger, sweet potato fries, string beans, and now chocolate chips.

RWH plyo 1, man! I think this is the hardest workout EVER!! I couldn't keep up! Probably rest day tomorrow since we have a field trip.

Hi Ladies,

Saturday was an 8 mile bike ride and 30 minute swim in tri training class. I'm not happy about this class only being 1 day per week. I have the same coach as last year so I'm going to ask him for a tri-training program. Normally you do 2 days of each-running, biking and swimming. I read...as well as learned from experience that you should train more on your weakest event. For me, that would be swimming. Sunday was a 5K race in gale force winds. UGH. It was really tough for only being a 5K.

I did not get my last STS disc in yet. It's 67 minutes long and will have to be done in the evening. On the upside, I got rid of 4 cpu's, 2 monitors and a keyboard from my basement. I'm donating 2 largs bags and 3 boxes of stuff tomorrow. It's such a good feeling to get all this junk out of my basement.

LL-nice job with your workouts!!! There is nothing wrong with doing a premix. Nutrition is so difficult. I bought a couple Kettlebell w/o's from another fellow Cathlete and she is following Gina Aliotti's nutrition program. She said it is working great for her. I'm going to look at it in greater detail when I have a chance. Oh, S&H is the Slow & Heavy series.

Missy-glad to see you are still rockin' the w/o's! I agree with Tina on the back extensions. Good luck with your procedure. We are here to support you, so keep checking in when you can!

Tina-I'm jealous of your long bike rides. My longest training ride is only 18 miles. We had great weather this weekend too. I was planning on doing yard work but was beat after tri training class. I don't think it was the class itself, but more not getting enough sleep and having to be up so early.

Beth-I've been spring cleaning too. Taking down all the light fixtures and cleaning them etc. Each weekend I work on something else. This next weekend I want to clean out all the bathroom vanities. I can't do it all at once, it's too overwhelming. Nice job with MM.

bbl

LL, MM is tough! Good job finishing it. I know what you mean about Plyo 1. I can never go as fast as Cathe! The snowboards always get me good.

Tina, 78 miles! How many hours do you go? We usually do around an hour depending on the wind. It is so nice to be outside!

Diana, do you do other training or dvds during ti training? 2x a week of everything is a lot! Are using weights counterproductive to your running? Is swimming your resistance training? Do you do it all spring and summer? I'm curious! I've never known anyone who trained for a triathalon! I break up the spring cleaning as well. In fact, I only got started on the kitchen the other day...did the section around the sink. I usually set my timer for 2 hours for any cleaning and just work until it goes off. I really don't enjoy cleaning (until it's over and looks/feels good!)and this way I do it without putting too many hours in!

Missy, glad to hear you're continuing to work out. Now that the weather is getting better you can get outside and walk or bike. How is the new job going?

I did PUB today and upped the three weights I use for biceps and got through all the reps -with extra pauses and stretches! Tonight is my yoga/stretch/breath class. I've been going for nearly 4 months now and find myself noticing my breath and actually trying to breath better when I'm getting stressed out at work. I didn't expect that to happen!

Beth

Gosh, the new job being an internship will be over in a month! It was a good re-entry into the workforce. I like the work I'm doing, but as far as the employee atmosphere, it's not for me. I hope to get a good recommendation, and I have an Access database created to put up on my web site for people to actually look at.

I am doing Long and Strong Legs. It' s a live workout. I give it a 6 so far.

I saw an exercise person today, and I told her what I've been doing. She's not familiar with Cathe, but she said ultimately the goal is for me to work out 300 minutes a week. Wow, that sounds hard. But I think I can set up a stopwatch on my iphone and keep track of it.

Thanks for the superman ideas. I'm going to try it.

This morning I did tabatacise premix 1 tabata 1 and core 1, 29 min. We haven't left yet for the Crayola Factory, because I didn't want to rush and kill myself this morning when I realized we can only be gone 8 hours due to dog sitting my mom's poodle Cosco.

Did you all read the article Cathe put out on in the news letter yesterday about nutrition? I'll try to post it later, it talked about how everyone says that nutrition is more important than exercise and more studies are coming it saying that exercise is more important than they thought as you age. Maybe they are always changing things, but that makes me feel better and not so stressed/guilty about what I eat. So I'm aiming for 30ish min workouts due to the week and longer on the weekends, instead of "whenever" I can get it in, which I was averaging 2 days on 2 days off. I've also am going to try a diff framework: HiiT, circuit, heavy wts, HiiT circuit heavy wts, taking a day off or a yoga day every 6th day or when needed and throwing in fun cardio for HiiT when I feel like it. But yesterday I did HiiT and today tabatacise so I already blew that! I'm trying to only plan a week at or less at a time. And I want to try to throw in abs 2-3 times a week. But then, knowing me, I'll change that idea soon enough! It's fun to play around with it!

Beth- the tuck jumps took me by surprise! I feel weaker since I stopped Cathe for a month to do Insanity Max 30! Crazy I know, but I feel like I can't jump around as well, to pushups/plank work or light weights like I could before! Frustrating!
