DAILY WORKOUT Friday December 10

wendybdh

Cathlete
Good morning everyone,

This morning was HSTA which I hadn't done for a while. I was surprised when I could do all the 1-arm tricep dips and all the hover squats with the barbell. I didn't realize I had gotten that much stronger - YIPPEE!!!

Ruth-Cheer up-hopefully this Christmas will be better-I'll be thinking of you.

Katie, how's your DH today?

Well, off to work....
Wendy

Good morning all!

As I am not feeling all that great today (unfortunately TTOM!), today will be my rest day.

Sandra...I will do stepblast tomorrow followed by KPC #4/ME on sunday. I am looking forward to next week's rotation:7 !!

Wendy...I did HSTA last week and I feel the same way you do....I was able to do most of the one arm tricep dips (which used to kill me!) and was able to keep up with those short but intense cardio segments...Sandra is right this is a great workout to gauge how far you have come!

Ok everyone I am soooooo excited because I will be meeting Sharon from Active You on Sunday!!! I live less than 1/2 hr away from her and we will be meeting at a mall 5 minutes from her home. I will be making an exchange as well as picking up a few more items. This is SO cool:7 :D! I will tell you all about it on Monday:)!

Have a wonderful Friday:)

oo i am not sure about what workout to do today :) if i spend much more time on the forums, i wont have time :p i'm thinking a cardio workout, either SB or CW cardio only. :) have a WONDERFUL day!

Good morning Wendy...thats great you have gotten so strong!!!

I am doing P90X Core Synergistics and a 6 mile run.

Laurie...I go thru probably 4 pairs of running shoes a year. I like to alternate a couple of pairs at a time besides having trail shoes too...:)

Dutchie...glad to see your post! Sorry about the internet connection...:(...hope you can get back here soon...:)

I do wish I could get a massage every week! I try for every 3 weeks although it doesn't always turn out that way..

Katie..I hope your DH feels better soon.

Ruth....I know how you feel about X-mas sometimes! For me its the rude shoppers you occasionally encounter...x(

Enjoy the workouts ladies....:)...Carole

Good Morning,

I did Power Circuit last night. I hope to do All Step tonight. I will be having my nieces and nephew over to our house to spend the night. Hopefully I will be able to get a workout in between telling them to go to sleep.:) Both of my DD are very excited. If they wake up before 8 am I will not be happy.:-(

Have a great day!

Good morning everybody. Today is my rest day. My legs are fried after PLB. Cathe said that you get of a workout what you put on it. It is true. My legs are beging mercy.

Wendy. Congratulations. The one arm dips are a great challenge.

Sandy sharon is great by mails. I have received the turquoise top and the kickmax pants in only a week.Great costumer service.

Tina Everyday I have to choose a workout to do .Ouuug. I want to do IMAX 2, Bootcamp, ME but I don't have enough energy to do it in the same day.

Carole good workout. If you like runing you would loke the august rotation I am doing.

I hope I be able to not exercise today. I have to repeat myself : you have to rest one day in the week, you have to rest etc. Rest is so boring. Why I can not exercise everyday?.
Have a great weekend.

Morning all! This morning was Leaner Legs for me. I am happy to say that it didn't seem as torturous today (well except for some of those low ends), so next week I will definitely have to bump up my weight. Progress... woo hoo!

Wendy & Carole - DH is doing better. He has his voice back so that's a good sign which is important since we are supposed to go to his parents Christmas party tomorrow night. I'm going to need to do some HEAVY cardio tomorrow morning to prepare for that. Anyone have any suggestions? I've already done BC and IMAX2 this week.

Tina - Ooo do SB!!! It's so much fun!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning! It's Friday!

This morning I am very pleased to report that I did IMAX, followed by KPC abs. I had Step Blast on the agenda for today, but really put it there to avoid the dread factor of IMAX creeping up on me over the week. Yes, it still gives me dread, but not nearly as much as it used to. I initially thought it would be interesting to try to do both IMAX2 and IMAX in the same week, but didn't want to commit to it, unless I really felt up to it. So, Step Blast was really IMAX in disguise. :) I wasn't sure I would actually do IMAX until I rolled out of bed this morning. My brain was really, really foggy; perfect conditions for doing IMAX because I wasn't fully able to appreciate the consequences of my decision. The workout went great! I was distracted by a conversation with my DD during Blast 10, and think I cheated a bit on the tuck jumps, so when the workout was finished I did 10 tuck jumps in a row, really focusing on getting my knees up to chest, using my abs. Neat! That really works the quads! I think I might be ready for an AquaJock mish mosh.....

Enough about me. It looks like you all have been very busy!!!

Laurie - has your IS arrived yet? I'm waiting on that challenge....Did you order from CK Sales? How did your hair appointments go with all the girls? That must be a hoot for you all to go together like that.

Sandy - Niagara Falls! Beautiful, huh? Yes, there is much more to see. Your lack of energy these days is troubling. I know you said it's TTOM, but I also wonder if you are getting enough sleep, or enough calories? I'm still trying to figure out what to do for next week's rotation. Any suggestions are welcome! I think it might be time to take SH for a spin, but haven't decided for sure. It's such a time hog! Enjoy your meeting with Sharon. People have nothing but wonderful things to say about her. And you are going to be the best dressed member at your gym!

Annette - your weight training sounds exhausting! Wow! You strong!

Katie - adult croup? Didn't know such a thing existed. Will he be well enough to enjoy his Christmas party tonight? Those cheesecakes sounded delicious!

Jes - I know it must have killed you to drop that weight on your foot, and I deeply sympathize, but the way you write your messages you had me cracking up about it. You are spunky! My daughter dropped a 3lb dumbell while I lying on the floor and it grazed my cheek. That scared me a bit. Is your foot bruised today? That's very interesting about the CD you have. Can you find those at places like HMV? I'd really like to buy Cathe's IS music CD, but her Canadian distributor doesn't carry it.

Wendy - it's nice to see you on the boards again! Sounds like you're getting more than enough phyiscal activity these days! BC, KPC, and HSTA in the same week? Sounds like you're going for intensity! That's excellent that you were able to do all those one-arm tricep dips! I can do them all, but I wonder whether I'm cheating by using my leg to help me a bit. I find the quad on the bent leg gets tired when I do those, as well as my tricep. But I suppose it's a compound move, right? And it's therefore meant to work more than one part?

Ruth - I hear you on the Grinchy-business. I'm struggling with that myself this year. For me, I know it's a case of feeling like I do all the work (and spend a lot of time I don't really have) to make Christmas a holiday that other people get to enjoy. I have come to resent the demands put on me (wife; mother) - it doesn't seem fair!

Tina - SB and CW are both fun, fun workouts! Enjoy whichever one you choose to do!

Mariángeles - I hear you about the difficulty in taking a rest day. I find Sundays are very loooong days if I don't do anything at all. I do a one hour yoga session because I *have* to do something, but I keep the yoga easy so that my muscles really do get a break.

Laurie Mac - your house is going to be one fun place tonight! That sounds like a hoot. How old are all these children? Good luck squeezing that workout in!

OMG, I just realized what the dream I had last night means! I dreamt that DH and I were at a Christmas dinner party. We were near the first to arrive, and I had already eaten a very healthy supper at home. My intention was to skip the holiday supper, but I was going to eat dessert with everyone (strange dream-logic going on here). Just as someone put a piece of hot apple pie in front of me, a very large woman entered the room and spied it. No one else had even been given their dinners yet. This woman, very loudly and boisterously, made a bee-line for my plate, stuck her finger in my pie filling, licked it, exclaimed with joy, and began to go back for another taste. I became so angry with this woman for intruding on my one piece of dessert (my reward for working hard) that I picked up the plate and smushed the pie in her face, while yelling at her. I mean, I *really* smushed this pie into her face. I was so resentful at her audacity, and complete lack of consideration. I'm thinking this VERY large, completely self-centred woman represents the Christmas season in general. Or my thesis. I resent them both :-( I need to see a therapist.

Hey eveybody...

I am gonna do P90X back and Bi's followed by cardio and leg circuits of bodymax and some abs!!

Can't wait! Have a great weekend.,

Hi Katie,

Nice progress with LL! Good work! I've thought of bumping up the weight for that workout, but I'm kind of scared to. You go ahead and let me know how it feels :)

I can't remember what all you have. I THINK you said a long time ago that you have the CTX series, and the IS? If you have the Terminator, then IMAX Extreme is terrific for pure cardio calorie-burning. Let us know what cardio workouts you actually have, and we can offer more suggestions. Do you want to completely exclude weights? The Gauntlet and the Viper offer terrific calorie burns, but they both include a lot of weight work.

Cheers,
Sandra

Mariangeles.....I know what you mean about making yourself take a rest day! It is so hard especially when you feel like you are really on a roll:) But we do have to remember that it is soo important for our bodies to get adequate rest especially with all that we do!!:D

Having said that, Sandra maybe I should really follow my own advice:eek: ...yes my lack of energy is pretty troubling to me as well and I think you hit the nail on the head......I have not been getting enough sleep at night, I go to bed to damn latex( I have to get up quite early and I really do need at least 7 hrs of sleep to feel well rested...some nights i'm lucky if I get 6! Next week I am really going to make a huge effort to go to bed early as I see what it's doing to my energy levels, and I can't have ANY of that!!

I'll be more than happy to give some suggestions but just keep in mind they might be quite limited as I don't have a huge collection...at least not for the moment. I will get back to a little later:)

By the way...very interesting dream:p

I am trying very hard to build up my collection, but so far all I have is CTX series, IS (not including The Terminator and The Gauntlet) and the Body Blast Timesaver DVD. It's not a huge collection, but I sure can get good workouts from what I have. I have been wanting to get the Body Blast series and I really want the Rhythmic Step, MIC and IMAX DVD. That will be my next purchase. I have been trying to mix it up with the Timesaver combos to actually make a decent workout out of it (it was my first purchase and wanted something that wouldn't kill me, but now I find that just doing the workouts on the Timesaver "as they are" isn't enough of a workout for me anymore). However, I'm not quite sure how to use the function where I can mix and match sections from all the different workouts. Is that possible? Do I have to program my DVD or something?

Katie

Happy Friday!

I will be resting today. I have a 5k run tomorrow and a 12 mile run on Sunday. I will also be doing all of my shopping and some baking this weekend.

Josie

Katie,

Brilliant that you have the Timesaver! You can create your own workouts, if you dvd player is programmable. The Mix'nMatch feature on the dvd itself will only let you pick within each workout, so to use sections of different workouts, you need to have a programmable dvd player; not all of them are.

Once you have found how to program your player, you need to know Title and Chapter numbers for each of the workouts, which you then put into the machine. My machine calls this the "memory" function; yours might be different. Check the manual. If you are indeed able to program your dvd player, I have pasted four workouts put together by Bethj, including Title and Chapter numbers. NOTE: her chapter/title numbers are not always accurate. Sometimes they take you to the "card", and skip over the actual workout segment, that sort of thing. I suggest that after you've programmed your player, use the "skip" button to move through the workout and make sure each segment is starting where you think it should be starting. I've done the second workout many times, and think it is very intense. I've also put the correct title/chapter numbers in the second workout.

If you want a calorie burn, and a helluva good time, do the second workout, and if if if if if you still have energy, add on BootCamp cardio and/or lower body premix. This should earn you a sliver of cheesecake :)

Hi All!

Coincidentally enough I did the same workout as Sandra, IMAX.:) It is a great workout, I have been working my legs heavier and more often the past month or so and really felt the difference on the plyo jacks (did 'em all and made 'em pretty}( :p ) and the power scissors, (ummm..., not so prettyx( :+ ). Tuck jumps aren't my fave, mine look more like Rhonda's than Cathe's and I find them a lot of impact as I workout on carpet over concrete. I thought that was it for workouts but I ended up getting a wicked arm workout scraping a couple of millimetres of glare ice off of the carx( .

Sandra, I did order from CK Sales and they are en route!:) I see you were still deciding on what to get up to next week, throw in one of your fave premix mish moshes late in the week and I'll join you.
Our hair appointment went very well. My 10 year old and I got the same bright shocks of red, her hair is quite dark and she looks amazing. She's very creative with her short hair and all through the evening she kept hugging her arms in and shaking with excitement saying "I love my hair". My 13 year old has very dark hair and got golden highlights in her medium length hair, we went to her Christmas concert right after and she was the hit of the party and played a beautiful flute ensemble with 2 other girls and a teacher. My 15 year old got about 6" cut off of her gingery hair and highlights the colour of a brand new penny. Between the cut and colour she looks more mature and it kind of shocked me, she's just lovely. Ooops sorry, proud Mama goes on a bit too long:)

Wendy, nice job on the triceps, they are tough!!

Laurie, have fun with the kids, I love it when my mine get together with their cousins, too fun!

Enjoy your day and your workouts everyone!:)

Take Care
Laurie

Katie....I've also been looking at the RS/MIC/IMAX DVD, I think that S&H and CTX will be my next purchases. Oh god, I just want them all! It is so hard trying to make up my mind which one to buy next:+

Josie, have fun shopping! I will also attempt to get the majority of my shopping done by the end of the weekend...Let's hope we don't strangle anyone this weekend}( Have fun on your 5k tomorrow! I just can't help but think of how much fun your grandson is going to have with you as he gets older...you are one heck of a fit grandma:7 :7 Way to go:D :D

Hi Sandy,

Sleep can really make a big difference, especially if you're depriving yourself regularly. If you're also finding it especially difficult to curb the high-cal food cravings, that is also a result of lack of sleep. Finally, in order for your body to release the growth hormone required to repair and rebuild muscle, you must be asleep. I recommend you call in to work today and tell them that it is vitally important that you take a long nap :)

I do know which workouts you have, so I'm really looking for suggestions regarding what theme the week should have: cardio intensity? Heavy weight work? Endurance weight work? Pure fun, forget about the intensity level? Circuit-focused? That sort of thing. What sort of week do you think your body needs? If you have no particular opinion on this, don't sweat it. I'll figure something out }(

Jes (or anyone else who cares to come along), if you're interested in joining us again, feel free to express your opinion on this.

Edited to add: I've figured out my dream. The woman is definitely my thesis, and I am resenting the gros amount of time and space this project is taking in my life, and am tired of it impinging on my Christmas merriment every year. Grrrrrr. Gotta get this beast finished.

Take care!
Sandra

Wow!!! Thanks Sandra! Those look great! Now of course I'm going to have to ruch home tonight and see if I can program my DVD player. It's like getting a bunch of brand new Cathe DVD's in the mail!:7

Katie

Hi Sandra!

Work should have no problem with that request, right}( :7 ?? LOL!! in that case I better hit the sheets for the entire weekend:eek: !! Thankfully I'm not hitting every high calorie food that comes my way, in fact there are certain things that don't even tempt me. However, I will indulge in some eggnog here and there....there is one my mom buys that is custard style but lower in calories so I will have that here and there}( ;-) but so far so good! I especially try hard not to hit anything at work.....it is insane there is so much food here that if I ate everything offered you would have to grease me up to get me throught the doorway!

Well for next week I really want/crave a mix...a very good amount of cardio, some heavy work and circuit...especially BC!!! I also am soo in the mood for L&G since I didn't have the energy to do a premix after C&W last nightx( I love that workout!! I have to say I haven't done C&W in it's entirety in a long time and forgot how much fun it can be.......I felt like orka the beached whale when I started but by the end I felt MUCH better...that was a PERFECT workout to do for TTOM:D

Sandra,

The ages of the children range from 3-11. My DD's are 11 & 7. My DB's oldest dauthter is 9, DBS is 7 and the youngest daughter is 3. She is also my godchild so she is very special to me. She is the most fearless kid I have seen. Reminds me of my DB when he was young. When she gets older I expect to see her in a tree, and me standing down below expecting her to fall any minute. Just like I did with her Dad. I will be having fun because the little one makes me laugh all the time. I think she is the reason why my pshyic made me start exercising. She is always asking me to do the airplane, and flips..etc. Bundle of energy.

Back to work,x(
