I'm a bit late with my weekend check-in. Friday was rest day... not according to my rotation, but according to me it was. Seeing I w/o at night Friday night is just never appealing. Once we get home from basketball I just want to have dinner and relax.
Saturday I did ICE MTB incl. BB. There was no time for the MM. I must say MTB and esp the BB is whole lot of jacks.... in every variation. I think they made my right shin worse. I used to get shin splints when I went running or if I played basketball myself, instead of just coaching, butt normally with my w/o at home my shins don't bother me. I think the damage started with the Rock em BB which is a whole lot of running in place. Perhaps the fact that I have been doing ICE for the past 4 weeks with BB most days has just been too much for me. With programs like XTRAIN there were at least days that did not have any jacks or jumps etc. Those BB are definitely not low impact, but once I am doing the routine I figure I may as well end on the BB and get that extra burn.
Saturday was a beautiful sunny day here, which was a nice change from the freezing temperatures we had last week.
Sunday I had errands to run and my son woke up with a fever and feeling like crap, so I put a big inflatable mattress up in the hobby room so he could watch movies on the beamer. This, however, is also my w/o room and on the weekend I prefer not to w/o at night, so I was debating all day what to do, esp. with my shin still acting up a bit. I considered doing another dvd with less cardio then the one on my rotation, but in the end I still did what my rotation said, ICE Bootcamp, only I skipped the BB and just added on the Bicep MM. Those MM are good! I can really recommend them.
Annette - Rock em knock em is fun, but I think I might prefer Xtrain Hardstrikes and Rockout Knockout. I may have to do all 3 of those KB w/o's in one week to really be able to pick my favorite. I am not sure if it's the music or the combo's, I just remember the first time I did Rockem knockem I thought hmm.... fun, but not better than the ones I already had. The other two also have a heavy bag workout bonus which I love... finally using my heavy bag again and it really does make a difference. Tonight (Monday) I start with an Xtrain/ICE rotation and it has Rockem scheduled for today... so who knows maybe it will grow on me.
