Daily Check in Wednesday May 4, 2016

Henriette

Cathlete
Hi ladiies,

I thought I would give it a try being the first to check in. We're going out to dinner tonight so after work I have to go straight to bball to give the kids their training and then home to get ready to go out. Knowing we will be back late, there is no chance for a w/o tonight. I therefore set my alarm clock extra early but instead of doing Cardio & Core like I had first planned I decided to go with Lift It Hiit It Legs Live. Short enough for a morning w/o (43 min) and I didn't think I'd need the music super loud to keep me going.

This was another really good Live w/o. I forgot the HiiT side of the original w/o and had gone into it thinking it's just legs using weights. Oops! Somewhere in the middle I thought, well at least the blasts are not so bad.... just 2 sets of 10 (snow angels etc) and then she changed them to all 3 sets of 10, so I got more winded. Oh well, at least I am now wide awake and my legs (esp inner thighs) really felt it.

Sandy - hope you can give your wrists a chance to recover.

Elsie - have not tried those yet. Will have to give them a try.

On another note.... Yesterday afternoon I had a splitting headache where I needed strong painkillers to soothe it and today I woke up with a really sore throat. :( Not happy about that.... looks like my body may start shutting down in time for next week when I have the week off. It has happened too often in the past when I have visited my parents. As soon as someone else can take over all my responsibilities I collapse with a flu or something. This time I am driving there, so I have a super long drive ahead of me (approx. 1000km) which I will need to be fit for.

Thankfully tomorrow is a public holiday so I can take it easy and get laundry and stuff done and hopefully a few more Live w/o's.

Have a great day everyone!

Thanks for starting us off!

Great workout Henriette. You've got me thinking of subscribing again. I subscribed for a year but I can only handle so much Cathe. I was neglecting all my other dvds/workout. I will subscribe for a month here and there I think.

Today I did:
Rippedism – bi’s/tri’s/cardio circuit and Mike Chang's youtube leg challenge

Enjoy dinner Henriette. Around our house some of us take in a tablespoon of Bragg's apple cider vinegar daily! Thrice daily when getting sick. I mix it with a large glass of water. Good luck and I hope you don't end up worsening.

have a great day everyone.

Hi gals,

I am thinking that maybe we need to do introductions again since we have the new gals and all. It has been awhile since we did this and I am sure some things in our lives have changed.

I'll start. I am a 52 year old mostly stay at home mom to 3 pretty much grown young men. I homeschooled them all the way through high school and they all graduated and went onto college. Oldest son is turning 24 in August and works full time at a manufacturer of houses as a bander. Middle son will be 22 in July and he just graduated in Dec. with his BA in Journalism and is currently looking for work. Youngest son is 19 and just finished his first year at the local community college where he is taking graphic design classes.

Hubby is an Associate Safety Officer and I substitute teach and teach GED classes in the evening. I have been working out for over 25 years now. I do have a BA in Biology (research) but I teach math for the adults seeking their adult equivalency diploma(GED). I have been married for 26 years.

Today was another Circuit workout at the gym 75 min. worth. The gym does want me to pursue the Silver and Fit training but we have to get approval from the distance learning lady who I will need to register with.

Have a great day!!

Hi Annette, now I get to know you a little better. Thanks for sharing this info with us.
A little abour myself: 46 years old, divorced, now I have a fantastic partner. I graduated in Political sciences, and currently work as purchasing specialist in an It company (previously owned by an Amerivan corporation). I have no kids but two dogs. My partner works for a German company, he provides support and keeps training sessions to his junior or newly hired colleagues. I discovered Cathe in 2014 and fell in love. Prior to that my sports activities varied but were never consistent: horse riding, a little bit of step, pilates, gym activities.

Today I completed the Pure Strength workout with Back and biceps, added pull-ups and chin-ups of my own and Xtrain rear delts bonus.
Henriette, just try and think positively: I' m sure your vacation time will be great and you will be all right. When the stress and the responsilities drop our body and mind need a little time to adjust...

Hi again.

Thanks for the introductions.

I guess I can give a quick introduction as well although a lot is probably known by you girls already.

I am 34, divorced and since recently living together with my bf. We've been together over 6 years now, but had not completely settled into a life together with just one house until now. We both have kids from previous marriages. I hve my son who is 9 and my bf has a 13 year old girl and a 17 year old boy. The boys live with us. My son's father, my ex, is Colombian and lives in Germany with his wnd wife and 2 daughters so my son only sees him during vacations.

I have a Master's degree in International & European law but have been working in IT for the past 9 years. I love my w/o's, volunteering as a basketball coach/trainer, reading and crocheting. I don't like to cook, but I do love to bake... However, I don't do it much these days as only my son and will eat it all... The others are not used to homemade cookies etc so prefer store bought stuff.

I am originally from Denmark but have lived in the Netherlands since I was 6, but please don't assume that makes me Dutch. My son was born here but has the Danish nationality thanks to me and if you ask him where he is from he'll say he's Danish. We speak Danish together, Dutch if my bf and his son are home and English at school etc seeing I went to an international school and that is where I have enrolled him too, not the same one, but one where he will also get his IB diploma. So for both my son and I English is our strongest language.

I started with aerobics during my uni years... In my youth horses were my big passion and I played tennis, swam, ice skating, art classes and so much more. As a teenager I started playing basketball and at uni I continued with basketball and aerobics. I love step aerobics but no complicated choreography. I am not sure how many years I have been doing Cathe now... But I definitely love her w/o's, but cannot only do Cathe. There are so many other good w/o's out there to try as well.

Great introductions ladies.

Oh and I live in the United States in the state of Pennsylvania. I have lived in 6 different states including the state I now live in.

So, so nice to read your intros!! Thanks for starting off Annette (& congrats on your 25 yr. anniversary!..that's a long time) :) Strong & very interesting women you are.

Hmm, I feel that I do not have a lot to say ......let's see, I am 37 years old and live with my spouse (we aren't married/I am not religious or spiritual so I thought what's the point? lol. Not that I do not respect the union of marriage overall though. I think it's beautiful!!) of almost 15 years. We have a 15.5 year old cat. I am orginally from rural Eastern Canada & I currently live in urban Western Canada (British Columbia). We will be moving back to Eastern Canada this year to be closer to my parents. My employment is now in a transition. I was taking care of my spouse's elderly Father until he passed not that long ago. Since we are in the middle of moving & I was having some difficulty finding suitable work, I am just doing temping/on call work, mainly in a customer service capacity. My resume does not look great right now without any up-to-date work experience and I have been having difficulty with moderate-severe anxiety. My spouse works in non-profit health services mainly from a home office. I attended university although did not complete my degree due to finances. I do a course when I can afford to & perhaps eventually I will finally earn my degree. I am not far off now. I entered fitness through rehab for pain management due to scoliosis. I started pilates many years ago. I just began strength/weights 15-16 months ago. Last year, I completed a course in fascial self-massage and release through Yamuna. I have begun to add foam rolling to it. I enjoy outdoor pursuits mostly like hiking, and I also like to cook, enjoy my pear trees in the garden & am a big fan of coffee. I also enjoy reading books about Traditional Chinese Medicine. I volunteer in the adults on the Autism Spectrum field & occasionally with local and political interests.

My workout for today was KCM Weights Def BACK, + three sets of dead(lift) landmines & a 50 minute PhysioBall routine.

Elsie,

My oldest son has kyphoscoliosis and has had 3 back surgeries. He wore a brace for awhile but the kyphosis got too bad so they did the spinal fusion from T2-L3. 2nd surgery to correct 2 screw pops from the first surgery and then just a year and 4 months ago a third surgery to remove all the hardware from the previous surgeries because of a bone infection. It hasn't been fun.

Oh, Annette. That is awful. :( Both conditions!! That is not fair. I am so sorry to hear of him getting an infection. How old is he now? And how has he been doing since this last surgery?

I have the one of most manageable forms (very thankful!) which is C-curve & it is less than 23 degrees (from T4 to T10). It was not diagnosed till I started having chronic pain when I was in university. As a child, my parents just chalked up the pain and inflexibility to growing pains. I have just had to wear soft braces, nothing really restrictive. As I get older though, all of the other issues caused by the curve seem to get worst ....I guess just like everything does.

He will be 24 this summer and while he still has juxtaposed kyphosis (think that first word is correct) in his neck since they can't fuse him anymore, he is doing very well.
