Good morning!
This morning I did Step & Intervals (cardio & stretch) followed by SH Triceps. I was feeling pretty dozy this morning, and the only thing that actually got me started with the workout was 100% habit. I went through all the motions of getting ready, without my brain turning on until part way into the cardio. My modifications today were just to keep things at a comfortable level, so I did the jumps, etc., but didn't give them as much power as I usually do. I did the plyo jacks and airborne jumps in the first interval, but didn't squat as deep or jump as high. I did the talk test throughout the entire interval section by repeating everything Cathe said, and managed to stay within an acceptable exertion level. So far so good!
PG update: Even though the temps this morning were -33C, I woke up in a puddle of sweat. I think I'm getting hot flashes. I'm also constipated, but have to pee frequently, but I don't know if anyone really wants to know that. Just trying to "keep it real"
Jes - deny nothing and regret nothing! Great motto! Love it! I was thinking of making some smart-alec remark about how my mother died 4 years ago, but thought that was a bit cruel. DD is suddenly asking to see pictures of me and DH when we were little kids, so I'm actually asking my mother to bring some when she comes to visit next month. If there's a "Sabrina" pic in the bunch, I'll scan it for you. Do you have a burnt-head pic??? I actually have a verbal software program (DragonSpeak). I haven't used it in ages, but I think it might not be a bad a idea to start using it again. Since I know you and Sandy will be visiting immanently, I will stop all vaccuuming. Thank you so much!
Katie - feel better soon, please! I don't know how you can just sit still when there's a Cathe workout on tv! Oh yeah.......there's that little matter of the elephant on your chest. Shoo! Shoo shoo!
Lisa - Yes, I can see how you wouldn't want another little one around again. As our first daughter has gotten older, our desire to go back to those baby/toddler days was beginning to wane. We were pretty much on our last attempt, so this one got in just under the wire. I have a friend who was a grandmother by age 35. She had her first at age 16, and that daughter had her first when she was 17. Can't imagine!
Wendybdh - Yes, we are here for you when you need to ask questions that confound the male species. And it is a given that at the end of every response to your question is the statement: "You deserve some chocolate."

Type with my nose?? LOL! My mother suggested that it couldn't be the result of carpal tunnel syndrome, since the bottoms of my feet wouldn't also go numb, like they did on Tuesday. That cracked me up, because I can't believe I overlooked that logical conclusion, but then I asked her what made her think that I don't type with my toes when my fingers get tired? Very good that you listened to your body this morning, btw, and took it easier. Maybe you'll have more energy tonight. How was the volleyball?? Is that what tired you out so much?
Sandy - serious high-five to you for doing BC, no matter how much you had to modify! A sub for MIC that you could do would be a SB/SJP combo that runs approximately 70 mins long, includes all the SJP hi/lo, and the SB Challenge at the very end. I'm not sure, but there might be a premix that alternates the SB combos, the SJP hi/lo segments, then finishes with the Blast Challenge. If there isn't, then you could easily program it, or use the mix'n match menu. It should approximate 70 mins. However, if you are still feeling poorly from your illness, then doing whatever level of a workout that you can do would be the best thing.
I'm not sure yet whether my "phonomenon" is actually serious or not; I'm waiting to hear about the blood tests. But even if it is something that has long-term implications, well, I didn't expect to get through life scott-free. Few people do. I'm actually very excited about having a necessary reason to go to Mountain Equipment Coop and dropping a lot of money on a spectacular pair of boots! And obviously a Mexican vacation is going to be a prerequisite every winter; it's for the good of my health!!
Nicollette - what is the Tortoise and the Hare? Does the Firm have a set of workouts that vaciliate between short, high intensity and long, lower intensity?
Wendymin72 - sounds like a very challenging workout planned for today! Have you done the CTX weight work before? It doesn't leave a muscles untouched, I think! Excellent stuff.
Thank you to the kind and thoughtful people who encouraged me to continue posting. Those are some of the nicest compliments I have ever received! I shall print those out and show them to my DH as proof that some people actually find me interesting
The nicest compliment I ever received was when my 4 1/2 year old daughter told me that she really liked what I'd cooked for dinner, and could I please make it again some day? No amount of "Honey, you *don't* look fat in those pants" will ever come close to matching that one!. Anyone who's ever tried to feed a picky child will understand this
Have a good day, everyone!
Sandra
