Good Monday morning Fitness Ladies,

Yesterday:
Morning: Gym Style Triceps (progressive overload)
Last evening: S&H Legs with added Heavy conventional deadlifts and Heavy Leg Press

The sizzling temps and high humidity are sapping energy from me and my workouts. I was begging for this weather two weeks ago. Go figure. I may just go to bed early tonight or just do a stretch as another scorcher is on tap.

To all who asked about progressive overload method:
In a nutshell it is a method of strength training whereby each time you workout a body part you increase the load. For example, if on your workout day, you are able to complete all reps of the first set with a 50lb dumbell, you start the second set with a higher weight of say a 55 lb dumbell. Do as many reps in the second set at that weight, then stop. You do as many reps as you can in the third set at the higher weight and then stop. You take about a minute or two break between reps. The next time you workout, you start your first set at 55lbs and do as many reps as possible. Once you are able to complete the set at that weight, you start the second set at a higher weight etc. If you are not completing sets, you must strive to add reps to each set using that higher weight. Once you complete all sets with all reps (6-8) or complete the first set you must start the next workout with a higher weight or the second set at the higher weight.

Another method I will ultimately like to pursue is the German Volume training method (10 reps of 10 sets) wherein you still use heavy weights but lower than you would with the pervious method and do 10 reps of 10 sets with no more than 1 min break between sets.

Good day everyone,

I haven't done more then 30-45minute workouts last week cause I'm so busy, but I promised myself I'll do at least an hour this week!

My knees are finally feeling better. Can't believe that first aid refresher course aggrevated my knees so badly.

Anyways, did 5 intervals of Imax2 (2-4-6-8-10), then added S&H legs, subbing pre-exhaust lunges with leg press, and static lunges with dead lifts GS-style and added a tibialis exercise with the stabiity ball plus leg extentions a la L&G. All in all about 65 minutes.

Have a great day,

Dutchie :)

Good Morning Fit Ladies!

KickMax for me today. I struggle with this one. I think I will try the Bootcamp challenge version.

Cathy: Great workouts! Thanks for the progressive overload information. How are your results?

Dutchie: Very creative workout! I'm glad your knees are feeling better.

It is another VERY hazy, hot & humid day here too. It is the kind of weather that just sucks the life right out of you.

Hello to all that follow. Have a great day!

Good Morning Fit Women.

Today I plan on doing Basic Step with the abs again and I'm hoping I have time to add some light weight work as well...I will be exercising soon.

After that I have to shower up and head north. I am going to visit my job today. I get to show off my son :+ but before I leave I have to tell my boss I'm not coming back. I have to quit. How nerve racking! x( Hopefully I will not chicken out! :p

Have a good day!

Good Morning Fit Women,

Yesterday was a rest day with the exception of Core Max.

Today will be PUB to the sounds of Collective Soul and running. I am not going to set limits to my running time anymore as I plan to be out longer and longer as I adjust.

Have a great workout ladies!

Good morning everyone,

I am really tanking on this June rotation, I only have 80 minutes tops to exercise and I can't fit in all the stuff on this rotation, so I don't know how much longer I will be paying attention to it.

Wendy, was quitting your job in the cards all along? Maybe you could go parttime or something if you don't want to stop completely, but then again I don't know any of the facts here...Good luck with whatever you are doing, I am sure it will be the right thing, especially for that sweet baby boy of yours!;-)

Saturday - Imax 2, Coremax 3
Sunday - Bootcamp
Monday - KPC.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Everyone!!
I hope you all had a good weekend.
We had a good weekend camping even with the unexpected rain.
So enough of cookouts, s'mores and lazin' around...back to reality and working out!
This morning I did High Step training premix- cardio & upperbody , and S&H biceps & triceps and I am FRIED!!!!!!
That really WAS back to reality!!!

Have a good Monday
:)

Morning Everyone,

Not to active with working out this weekend. Just to busy. I did get in L&G Standing portion only on Saturday. Went to my 3yr old nieces dance recital. I'm her godmother, and she asked if I would come see her dance. How could I refuse that offer. :) And yesterday with our rehersals for faire the heat just drained the energy right out of me.

Today I have Bodymax on the schedule. At least I know I will be getting my cardio and some weights in at the same time. }(

Have a great day!

Hi Conni.

Oh I want to leave my job for sure because I don't like it at all. I just really like my boss. That's the only reason why I feel bad about this.

:)

ETA: My work out is complete before 9am for the second time! Wow! I NEVER thought I could be a morning exerciser! WOO HOO! lol I traded in weight work for adding a riser to cardio. I didn't use any risers on friday...to be honest...I rarely used risers before at all...I'm hoping to change that now.

Good morning all!

Well, this humidity is set to break on Wednesday and then we'll be back to more realistic temps in my area. On the weekend we were up to about 40 degrees Celsius when you factored in the humidity. It was absolutely draining.

Last night I did about 15 km of inline skating instead of running (makes more of a breeze!) and then the core work from BC.

Tonight will be MM.

Hope everyone has a great day:)

Good morning ladies...

Cathy...what kind of results have you seen from the progressive overload workouts?

Dutchie...glad to hear your knees are better! Good workout.

Wendy...good luck today. It's never easy to quit a job. But more time with Joey is a HUGE plus!!

I am doing my Freestyle legwork, a 3 mile run, GS Shoulders. Bi's and Tris and some abs. Another scorcher here too...http://bestsmileys.com/undersun/6.gif[/img]....

Enjoy the day....:)...Carole

Good Morning Ladies,

I hope that all of you had wonderful weekends.

Yesterday was my rest day, this morning I did P90X Chest, Shoulders, triceps and the Ab ripper X.

Now is breakfast, and off to work.

I wish everyone a nice productive week!

Hi good morning, today is step blast in the January 2005 rotation. Have a great Monday everybody.

Mariángeles a spanish terminator and TAEBO junkie. :) :)

Good morning lean ladies! ;)

I did HSTA this morning. What a calorie-burner that is! It's been a few weeks since I last did that workout and I found that this time I was able to keep up a lot better (ie, fewer rest breaks). I've still got a looooong way to go, but it's nice to see some progress. :)

Have a great day!

Good morning,

This morning I did LowMax. I.Feel.So.Good. That workout is so fabulous. Baby must have liked it, too, because she was really wiggling around today. It's a bit disconcerting to be trying to go low with all those lunge kicks, when someone's kicking your lower abdomen from the inside!

Carla - I'm so glad the hurricane didn't wreck havoc for you all! Good to see you post yesterday!

Cathy - the progressive overload method sounds exhausting. I'm not sure I could psych myself up to doing that kind of workout on a consistent basis. Are you seeing good results?

Dutchie - good to see you again! You've been quiet lately, but I suppose if you only have a bit of time every day to either workout, or write about working out, you should pick the workout, huh? Your workout today was very creative!

Wendy - I wish you all the best with resigning from your job. Welcome to the world of the Stay At Home Mom (SAHM)!

Becky - I'm envious of your weekend! We used to do that alot; we used to backpack through the wilderness for weeks at a time as our annual "vacation." It's a wonderful way to enjoy the summer. And yes, you're workout today was indeed a fryer! Ouch!

Laurie Mac - enjoy Body Max. You can't help but get a thorough workout with that one!

Shelley - that's some heat wave you guys are having! I hear Toronto opened their "cool shelters". I don't miss the humidity of southwestern Ontario!!

Mariángeles - what? You're only doing a step workout today? I can't remember the last time you posted that you were doing step! I'm betting that by the end of the day you'll have thrown a Taebo workout in for good measure :)

Have a good day everyone!

Morning all. I'm a little peeved this morning because I only did IMAX 2 intervals 6-10 because the painters were supposed to be at my house at 6:15 again. Well, they never showed up. So, I could have done the entire thing AND that probably means they will will have to work tomorrow when they were supposed to be finished today.

Anyone have any good suggestions of a 30 minute workout that kicks some serious butt!

Katie

Ok I ihave to get back into my full work out schedule today1 I slacked a bit on the weekend for two reasons. My birthday and I was feeling a bit under the weather. I wanted my energy to have fun :) So today I am doing SJP and then midday some core work and tonight a weight workout.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Terri

Hello everyone!

I was MIA from the boards last week as I was at a class and missed 4 straight days of working out! Ackkk! I felt MORE tired as a result of that--funny how that works.

To "ease" }( }( myself back into working out, Saturday I did IMAX 3 and Sunday I did HSTA. Love, love, love HSTA.

I'm still on my quest to do every Cathe workout there is on DVD now that I have them all. Today I did Step Jam for the first time. Ugh. The first combo has about 500 basics...zzzzz. Did love looking at the 80s/early 90s big hair and thong leotards. Can you belive we wore those then? Yeah, I did too.

Have a great one--
