CTX rotation?

workingToBeFit

I just got cross train express for Christmas - I am so excited about it - it looks like great fun. I am still sick with a cold so have had a good reason to sit on the couch and just watch every workout. Finally I am doing what I am supposed to do, previewing before doing, LOL.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone who has CTX already and/or remembers the recommendations for a rotation with CTX has any tips on how to rotate with it. i looked through all the posted rotations but didn't find a CTX rotation. Was the intent to do all 6 videos in a week and then take a rest day, then start over the next week? Kind of like the new 4 day split but 6 days? I was thinking of trying a CTX only rotation for 2-4 weeks.

Hi Ann,

I'll copy down a rotation I wrote out before (but haven't even done). I put it together after reading some advice from others on here about how to do CTX. I don't know where that advice is now, but here's what I put together:

Cathe’s Cross Train Express
DAY.........PLAN.......................WORKOUT
MONDAY......Back, Legs, Abs, Cardio....CTX Power Circuit
TUESDAY.....Chest, Cardio..............CTX Step & Intervals
WEDNESDAY...Legs, Abs..................CTX Leaner Legs
THURSDAY....Shoulders, Abs, Cardio.....CTX All Step
FRIDAY......Biceps, Abs, Cardio........CTX Kickbox
SATURDAY....Triceps, Cardio............CTX 10-10-10
SUNDAY......Rest or Pilates/Yoga

For more weeks, start again the next week or rearrange a bit.

I put them together this way to keep certain body parts from getting worn out (like putting legs in the middle to break up all the upper body) but also to vary the type of cardio nicely so you're not doing too much step in a row--hard to do because there is a lot of stepping on CTX.

Hi Lainie,

I really appreciate your posting this. I previewed all the CTX workouts in the last 2 days and was struggling with a way to do a rotation that made sense, because of the issues you mentioned. What you have here makes great sense to me and I will be trying it as soon as I am feeling healthy enough again! Hopefully this Monday. Today I am going to try a lightweight 20 minutes on the elliptical and maybe an ab workout to slowly get back into things. Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Ann,

Don't feel like you have to do whatever upper body part is paired with the cardio. Just do whatever cardio you like and do the upper body in back, chest, LEGS, shoulders, biceps, triceps order. (Legs is in between chest and shoulders to give the shoulders rest since they assist in many of the chest exercises). The second ctx disc has an upper body split with all the exercises in one workout. There are chapters for each upper body part so it's very easy to get to any part using the menu. The 4 ab workouts are similarly grouped. HTH and have fun! I really love CTX.

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Hey thanks, Jonahnah. I hadn't thought of mixing and matching with the cardios and I love that idea! This is my first "older" workout with Cathe and I thought I'd miss the premixes, but your point is right on, the chaptering is so good on CTX you can do whatever you want.

BTW I agree on the chocolate :)

Hi again Ann,
Your welcome for the suggestion and I'm glad to find another chocolate lover out there! Hope you enjoy CTX.
