CTX and new advanced high step WO

Hi,

I'm planning to do some more Cathe shopping, and wondering about the ctx series and the new advanced DVD. First of all, I'm wondering about the intensity level of CTX cardio; I love Cathe's higher intensity cardios and I have a lot of lower intensity ones, so I'm really looking more for higher intensity ones. How would you compare the intensity of CTX cardio sections? What about the weight training sections, is it more strength or endurance? What would you compare it to (PS - Power hour)?

What about the new advanced DVD; is it more like Boot Camp or Circuit Max? Where does it stand intensity wise? I would love to hear thoughts on it.

I have all but Slow & heavy series (which I'm definitely getting now), and I'm wondering about the two mentioned above, so any thoughts will be much appreciated!

Hi Maria!!
CTX is high intensity, but I find I have to keep my step hieght at 8 inches to really feel it. But on the days when I want a good workout and not push too hard, the 6 inches does just fine:D .
As for the weights, it's definatley endurance. And boy do I feel it!! I'm doing a rotation right now with my CTX and Timesaver. What a combo!
Since the advance high step isn't out yet, I on't know what it's like, but I sure do hope it's like Boot Camp!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that video!!

Hope I helped,
Amyfit

The CTX cardios my be shorter but don't let that fool you. Cathe simply takes the intensity up very quickly and holds it there for the duration. All of the cardios have little intensity blasts in them too, to get that heartrate up. Also, there's nothing better, on a day when you really want to go for it, than doing two of the CTX cardios back to back. This is 40 mins+ of intensity, with little break!

Good combos are:

All Step + Step + Intervals

All Step and Power Circuit

10 10 10 + Power Cicruit

But you can make any combo you want.

The series incluides leaner legs which has done the most of any Cathe workout to create for me lean, strong legs. It's tough and she never lets up, a 35 pound barbell is all you need!
The CTX upper body split is fabulous. Endurance definitely but an excellent workout and thorough. My favourite endurance upper body routine.

How can anyone not have CTX series in their collection? It's too versatile to not own. Get it on DVD.

Hi Amy,
Would you mind sharing your rotation using the CTX series and Timesaver series?
Thanks!

RE: Amyfit- A Question for you...

Hi Angela!!
Sure no problem:D !
It's six days a week. I start mine on Sunday just because of more time. Ok, here ya' go!

SUN- Power Circuit (cardio only) and Workout 5 of Timesaver.

MON- All step cardio and weights and Workout 4 of TS (weights only).

TUES- Kickbox cardio and weights and Workout 3 of TS (weights only).

WED- Power Circuit cardio and weights and Workout 2 of TS (weights only).

THURS- SNI cardio and weights and Workout 1 of TS (chest weights only and pushups).

FRI- 10-10-10 cardio and weights and Workout1 of TS (tri's weights only).

Now the next week flip it and do the cardio and weights sections from TS an just the weights section from CTX. I also usually do abs from the TS because I like the planks on the ball. Flip flop these back and forth for 4-6 weeks. Right now I'm on my 3rd week and I'm loving it!!

Hope you like it!!

RE: Amyfit- A Question for you...

CTX was my first Cathe DVD set and one of my favorites. As Clare mentioned, the upper body workout is a killer. It's a very, very thorough endurance weight workout. Leaner Legs is absolutely the most grueling leg workout on the market and very effective.

This set is fabulous. You have to have it.:7

RE: Amyfit- A Question for you...

Hi Amy,

I'm wondering what these workouts clock in at - are they more than an hour?
